It looks like the three-way trade involving Phoenix, Toronto and Charlotte will look like this:

Phoenix Suns

Trade:
- Leandro Barbosa
- Dwayne Jones

Receive:
- Hedo Turkoglu

Toronto Raptors

Trade:
- Hedo Turkoglu
- Jose Calderon
- Reggie Evans

Receive:
- Boris Diaw
- Tyson Chandler
- Leandro Barbosa

Charlotte Bobcats

Trade:
- Boris Diaw
- Tyson Chandler

Receive:
- Jose Calderon
- Reggie Evans
- Dwayne Jones

I'd say Toronto, because they shed two bad contracts. Now they retool around Bargnani with a fairly clean slate, although probably not until next summer.

Apparently, Reggie Evans will also be heading from Toronto to Charlotte in this deal.

So far, in terms of 2010/11 salaries, I have approximately:

Suns
- send $8M
- receive $10M

Raptors
- send $24M
- receive $29M

Bobcats
- send $22M
- receive $15M

Say this for Bryan Colangelo, he might make the odd mess, but he cleans up very well.

The Raptors general manager is on the verge of removing his two ugliest contracts from the books, though nothing is yet official.

The Arizona Republic first reported late Sunday that Hedo Turkoglu would be heading to Phoenix in exchange for guard Leandro Barbosa and that Charlotte forward Boris Diaw would also be Toronto-bound, but it was a far more advanced transaction than that.

The Raptors will also ship its longest-serving member, Jose Calderon, along with Reggie Evans for centre Tyson Chandler.

The Raptors take back almost $5 million US extra right away in the deals than they send out, but the numbers work under the CBA and they save substantially long-term.

Evans’ contract expires next summer, like Chandler’s, but Turkoglu and Calderon were owed more than $73 million (four years left for Turkoglu, three for Calderon). Diaw makes $9 million both this season and next, while Barbosa is owed $7.1 and $7.6 million.

This deal won't be finalized until at least Tuesday.

League sources say the complex trade won’t be done until Tuesday at the earliest. The NBA must be satisfied it meets salary cap rules and the conference call to deal with that wasn’t held Monday. But sources have confirmed Toronto plans to move Turkoglu to Phoenix, Calderon and Evans to Charlotte and take back the Suns’ Barbosa and Diaw and Chandler from the Bobcats.

Btw, it looks like the Suns are helping Toronto in more ways than one here. First, obviously they are taking on Turkoglu's long contract which would have been difficult for the Raptors to move. But second, by participating in this three-way deal the Suns are enabling the Raptors to make the deal with Charlotte without using their own TPE acquired in the Bosh trade. Turkoglu's big contract going to Phoenix enables the Rapotors to match salaries with Charlotte to within the required 125%.

i'd say that Phoenix makes out pretty well here. the BIGGEST part of this is that Turk waived most of his trade kicker AND agreed to only partially guarantee his final year of the contract.

Dwayne Jones, it was a powerfully explosive romance cut short far too quickly. Like a supernova, our love burned brilliantly, white hot for mere moments and then you were gone, quickly disappearing into the great oblivion that is the east.

I voted for Suns based on Turklo being really a good player worth the money. (Well, he'd be even more valuable next to Amare AND Nash though. :) ) But Raptors made out well too, swapping two bad contracts for one. The Calderon signing was really bad!

I'll give odds to any taker that this won't be the last time you mention Amare in a completely unrelated thread. I suspect it will occur once, maybe even twice more.;)

Hedo "earned" this terrible contract by shooting 41% in 2008. He sucks. I hate this trade.

You know me well, my friend! :p
I'm an apologist. heheh.

In any way, Turk would be great fit. I believed we missed out on him the same year we signed Q, right? We'd have won a title by now if we got Turk instead of Q. And you know who had been on the Suns team for that to happend, don't you?;)

Hedo did not fit with the Raptors at all and was totally misserable. Overall, he's had a good career and this is SHOCKING can play defense. Since Phoenix fans typically talk a good game when it comes to defense, but always places offense number one when it comes to personnel...

Agree that maybe Toronto with a slight edge over Phoenix, but I don't think Charlotte did very well except get more cap room.

I don't see how Toronto got anything except flexibility. LB is a shadow of himself, and Doris just sucks. Hedo has very big shoes to fill. While I'm pulling for him, I don't expect him to be Hedo of two years ago. I think Charlotte actually did OK with the trade.

Dwayne Jones will be a decent bench player in the league over the next couple of years. He just needs a chance some place.

BC probably knows Leandro as much as anyone having drafted him and was with him for four+ seasons. He is just as fast as ever and his wrist injury should be completely healthy next season. I can see why he might think Barbosa can reclaim his 6th man of the year skills.

I'm talking about his play the year before. He's had a pretty low shooting percentage his whole career.

I think on paper the Suns can stand to benefit the most on court from adding Turkoglu, but Toronto benefits the most in terms of future flexibility to add players.

As far as on-court performance, A healthy Barbosa, especially if he is going to play 30+ minutes, could easily average 20 ppg and have a career season for the Raptors. But the Suns didn't have much playing time for Barbs anymore, so likely he wouldn't get that opportunity in Phoenix. Raptors may also get a good season out of Chandler and Diaw, and if all three play well then clearly they have gotten the best out of this deal. But how likely is that?

As for Phoenix, it will be easier for the Suns to find minutes for Turkoglu, because Hill's minutes will continue decreasing and Turkoglu can also play PF at times. At his best, in a Suns system, he can also put up 20 points while getting 5 boards and 5 assists. So the potential is definitely there.
