Everyone's picking against the Cardinals this week. Everyone. I know that Matt Leinart is a rookie and that Frank Gore is the NFL's leading rusher, but does everyone forget that San Fran's defense can't stop anyone?

This seems like a game when the Cards have like 43 minutes of possession and people remember that the 49ers were supposed to be in the running for the first overall draft pick this season.

With Antonio Bryant out, we may have a little advantage, as far as a dep threat, against their offense.

Unless we can pressure Smith in a big way we will lose. If we get down early look for us to fold like a cheap tent. Don't have a good feeling about this game to be honest.

Hope I am wrong.

I don't know. I think that you focus on stopping Gore (which the Cards have been pretty solid doing of late, between Jackson and Alexander and Bell), and let Smith make his own mistakes with his sub-par receivers. The scariest matchup is probably Vernon Davis versus Karlos Dansby, but hopefully Pendergast learned his lesson.

You can attack the right tackle in this offense and be successful.

How about if Oliver Ross starts for Davis? Do you still think we have the advantage? I think we have a good shot. Watson and Dockett need to fill the running game and the CBs have to play better than horrible. Then we have a chance. SF will not be a pushover, they're still fighting for a playoff spot.

Oddly enough, I found that when Ross subed at left tackle he played a bit better than at right.

I don't see the 9ers as a team that is vastly better than the Cardinals? Have people been watching a different team?

Their defense isn't good, Alex Smith is average at best, their best reciever is out and they have a good running back. Geez, we might as well not even turn up! :doi:

And we've won in San Francisco in the Denny Green era. This is a beatable team. I'm surprised that the spread is a high at it is.

Upset? We've already beaten them, weve scored more and given up less points than this team...

We are just 3 plays away from being a 7-7 team... SF is not better than this team... Can they beat us? Certainly, but upset? Not...

BTW, Gore torched us last time and we still won...

Agreed. If we focus on Gore then Smith doesn't have the weapons on the outside to beat us. Their only recieving threat right now is a rookie TE. They don't have anyone who can exploit our weak secondary. We put up a lot of points on them in week 1 and our OL is playing much better than it was at that time.

Why would it be an upset if the Niners lose?

Is it because the Cards are rated higher in Madden?

The Niners have a better record and are playing at home with a playoff spot on the line. The Cards are playing on the road with nothing on the line.

So it will be an upset when the Cards win.

What a profoundly stupid post this is. It would be an upset because the 49ers are favored by 4 points and are the home team with the better record.

What's the difference between a Cardinal win and a 49ers loss? They seem the same to me.

:doi: Merry Xmas, KOC.

We are the better team. Not by record, but by several other factors. SF is not a bad team, however...their defense isn't very good though.

I think we SHOULD win this game, but it is no way a given win.

Last week's Cardinals show up, and we get killed. Previous week's Cardinals show up and we win by 17.
