Can't think of a recent time when we shot so bad and still won.

Love Dragic, Gortat, and Scola. Still can't stand Beasley. He might be the only player with lower basketball IQ than McGee.

Don't be hatin, Beasley with 16 points, 7 boards, helped us take the lead in the 2nd w/ back to back hoops, and hit a huge shot in the fourth to keep the Pistons at bay

Yea, as bad as Beasley is he was still an important factor of the game..

Positives:
Dragic is a true NBA PG, and runs point like he could be an elite guard in the future.
Gortat isn't just a Nash product.
Scola is a solid PF and Gortat+Scola make up a great front line
Brown is getting his shot down

Negatives:
Markieff Morris had a horrible game
4th quarter they need to improve their scoring
Beasley needs to be way more consistent. Too much craziness and he isn't focused on the defensive end at all.

I just wish the Suns had another FC that is physical. Zeller is not what I had in mind.

Ask Beasley's biggest fan, Phrazbit, how he played today :D

Beasley played like what he is... steaming garbage.

But HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY! A win is a win. I watched this one at the 16th Street Bar and Grill, anyone who lives in the valley should check it out, phenomenal wings, great drink specials. Trivia on Friday and Tuesday.

Go Suns!!!

It looks like two european D-D tonaight:
Gortat 16 pts 16 reb 3 blk
Dragon 15 pts 10 as.
GREAT JOB,FIRST WIN IN THE SEASON :D
Supplemented by Scola's 13 pts/9 boards . . .

And even Beasley's 16 pts/7 boards.

That's 45 points and 32 rebounds for the starting frontcourt. It has been a long time since the Suns were that strong.

And a good balance when Dragic's 15/10 at the Point doesn't have to be the guy carrying the team stat wise.

He's cheap and a Frye clone, which is what the Suns want. I am not unhappy that we have Jermaine O'Neal to put in some minutes at backup Center or as insurance should there be an injury. And for his veteran influence as a Captain.

Man those offensive rebounds in the 1st were ridiculous.

I like the Suns D for the most part. They arent great. But it seems like they are trying. Definitely high energy.

Really need to get better on offense. Seems like guys are still getting used to each other. At the end of the 4th quarter there, i nearly threw my remote at the TV when nobody wanted to shoot and the shot clock expired.

Pass (Im like)"shoot". Pass. "shoot". Pass. "SHOOT". Pass "SHOOT!" pass. "SHOOT THE ____BALL!"

Buzzzzz

"DAAAANG IT!"

lol

wins a win. This team is fun to watch regardless of our chances at any success this year.

I am really seeing Dragic start to emerge as a legit NBA PG. I don't know how many games this team will win, but they are new and fun to watch.

Gotta love Dragic's all out hustle in both games thus far.

Indeed. The team may lack high end talent and prospects right now, but they are far from unwatchable as some have claimed.

As far as Beasley is concerned I've actually been more encouraged the last 2 games than I was with his final preseason game where he got 29 and 10. That preseason game was mostly jumpers. As long as he stays aggressive driving to the basket I think he can be a consistent scorer.

I'm more excited about this Team than the last 2 years!! The Season will be enjoyable, regardless what their final record is and Draft Picks delore (sp) in the Offseason. Possibly tradebait, kept, or packaged for higher Pick.

OT: and sunsfan88, I only watch Cardinals games and I hardly read up on Football but IMO the replacement refs weren't as bad while watching the Cardinals.

Really impressed. Sadly enough, the Suns are ONE "star" away from being a pretty scary team IMO. (A healthy Gordon would have been huge.) I still think that this is a team that can potentially surprise someone in the playoffs if they start to gel.

The drop off from Nash to Dragic hasn't been nearly as drastic as I thought it'd be. And it's only been 2 games. He / they can only improve. He already looks like a totally different player than his previous stint with the Suns.

Good effort and a solid win, but so far the competition hasn't been very impressive and the Suns were at home. Both games the Suns trailed by double digits and had to mount a comeback.

It's ironic how this team has so many new players but are facing similar problems as past Suns teams: rebounding (which wasn't a problem against Detroit), second unit (still a major problem, including backup PG, although Brown provided some bench scoring last night), and a guy who can create his own shot (Beasley has only briefly showed up so far).

Still not sure why they haven't changed up the 2nd unit yet. That 2nd unit just chucks up shots and don't play together at all. I would try moving Wes to starting SG and play Duds at SF with the second unit. I just don't like Brown and Morris taking all the shots. But Dragic, Beasley, Scola, Gortat can hang with most starters in this league.

Beasley is still trying to figure out how to play right in this system, I look at it just like JRich had to figure it out. But his stat line is still better than Hill's.

Watching the Suns these first two games has been infinitely more enjoyable for me. Despite our fond memories of SSOL, the offense the past few years was not fun to watch. It had devolved into a complete dependency on Nash to create shots which led to a lot of over-dribbling and stagnant half-court sets. I haven't looked at the numbers, but it seems we are getting out on the break much more often so far this season. Trading Nash and replacing him with Dragic was the right move and dare I say, an upgrade.

I hated Scola as a Rocket, but this guy can play. He's like a younger, more athletic version of Kurt Thomas. The difference between him and Frye at PF is laughable. I was skeptical at first, but I have to hand it to the front office for snagging him off amnesty waivers. Granted, he will win us a few more games which will hurt our draft position, but we already know there will be no deliberate tanking by the front office. Scola will be a huge asset this coming summer if we choose to move him.

I don't know what to make of Beasley yet, but I'm willing to give him some time to settle in. He does have a particular laziness to his game and demeanor, but Joe Johnson had a bit of that too. You can't deny his skill though. It's a shame a player like Dudley wasn't granted the same abilities as him. It'll be interesting to see how the coaching staff handles and develops him.

The defense has been really active thus far. It's a small sample size but blocks and steals are both up from last year. Two games in and we have yet to be lit up by the opposing team's point guard.

Overall, I'm happy with the direction of the team. I'm so glad we finally turned the page on the Nash era. We had a good run, but it was over.

If you gave Hill the shot totals that Beasley is chewing up he would crush Beasley's stats.

IMO, Beasley should be moved to the bench, Dudley put at his natural spot of SF in the starting lineup. The bench would have someone to give the ball to and the starters would no longer have a ball stopper constantly disrupting the offensive flow.

But that is not going to happen. Our best hope is consistency from Beasley at the '3', including driving to the hoop.

dudely just doesnt have the athleticism to play the 3. if he can get his 3pt jumpshot going like in previous seasons he'll be gtg. then our offense will open up a bit more.
