You simply made a prediction, and I pointed out that you were wrong. Perhaps I shouldn't have, and for that I apologize. But don't tell me you weren't convinced it would be a blowout, because you were.

jesus - who gives a crap - you sound like 5 year old right now Chap saying Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah - he admitted he was wrong - give it a rest.

I'll admit I was wrong. The Lakers played much better defense tonight, and were a much better team than Detroit when Luke Walton was on the court. Phil let him sit WAAAAY to long.

With that said, games like this are the reason basketball is soooo much fun. Also, it never hurts to have Kobe Bryant on your team. I was nervous as hell, but as soon as he got a good look, I knew it was going in.

To those that say we are always "lucky", you are wrong. Luck is not something that happens time after time. Magic, Jordan, Joe Montana, Gretzky, Pete Sampras, Derek Jeter, are all not "lucky", they are special. And so is Kobe Bryant, period.

This series will be a dog fight throughout, and maybe the first time in a long time that I am not totaly convinced that we will win. That is what is great about being a sportsfan (and also what makes it so difficult at times). GO LAKERS!!

I am still sick to my stomach this morning - Kobe Bryant was as good as ours - now the dynasty will freaking live on - ugh - I feel sick.
I agree. I don't think Kobe's going anywhere. Oh, he'll make some noises about leaving to tease the fans, but in the end he will stay with the Lakers.

Why would he leave a dynasty? Maybe the Lakers are "built around Shaq", but everyone knows that Kobe is the man. If L.A. beats Detroit then that will be Kobe's 4th title by the age of 25. Jordan won six, but he didn't win his first until he was 28. I think winning more rings than Jordan would be good motivation for Kobe.

I also don't think he would want to uproot himself and his family this Summer after putting them all through his rape trial. If he is acquitted, I think he will want to stay home in Newport Beach with all of Southern California at his feet.

Malone will retire, Payton will move on and Shaq, Kobe & Phil will re-load for a run at another title.

That's the way I see it anyway.

GO LAKERS!!!! :)

I also think that Kobe Bryant will stay in Los Angeles with the Lakers, but I believe he will do so because they will tell him he is the main man. They will tell him they want to build the team around him as the centerpiece.

Last night the Little pregame video as they were about to introduce the team was almost entirely Kobe Bryant.

The only thing I think though as far as Kobe leaving is this - the number of rings dont matter as far as besting Jordan - if it did - peoplke would be saying Bill Russel is the greatest player of all time - I still believe that deep down Kobe knows, and he should, that he will never be recognized as Jordan's squal playing with Shaq - no matter how many rings they win together - I mean look at Magic - he's got five rings - one less than Jordan and he's not considered near in the stratosphere that Michael is - and why - because he played with the best big man in the game - there no double teams or triple teams or teams that Magic had to almost singlehandedly carry like Michael did which was makes Michael stands so much more above the rest - Kobe included - that's the only thing that I can see making him leave. Kobe's not at MJ's level yet as far as his overall game - even at this point in their careers - I mean Jordan was already getting his team to the Conference Finals - in the East which was great back-then - winning series where the Bulls didn't even have home court - and taking the Pistons teams to the Limit - Kobe hasn't shown he can do that without the most unstoppbale player in the game - and it's that challeneg that I hold on to dear life that I hope Kobe accepts in leaving the Lakes - but like I said - i have serious doubts that will happen.

Everyone except O'Neal and Jackson, that is.

Not bad for a second round "reach".

I personally never thought he was a reach. In fact, since I thought Brian Cook would be gone, I wanted the Lakers to take him with their 1st pick. After, Cook fell to us in the first round, I was hoping like heck that he wouldn't be picked before we came up again in the second (we had Toronto's second from the Kareem Rush trade). Needless to say, I was estatic with our draft last year.

Luke has played pretty well every time he has gotten a chance. He has always been a good passer, with a high b-ball IQ, but the last month or so of the season his shooting has gotten much better. If it wasn't for some of his defensive liabilities, he probably would have been the starter by the end of the year.

Use the Force, Luke!!!!!

As much as I dislike the Lakers I sure liked their draft last year. Brian Cook and David West were the guys I liked for the Phoenix Suns in the first round last year.

Agreed, the Lakers had a great draft last year. I thought last June, Walton was a perfect fit for the Lakers with his all around play. Cook is a good prospect but I thought Walton could contribute right away because he doesn't play the power position Cook does.

I can't believe that any of you still want Kobe after his performance in the finals. He hits 1 3 pointer to give the lakers a chance in overtime and you all forget the he was the reason that the game is close in the first place. Kobe dribbles the ball around the perimiter for 23.5 seconds and then jacks up off balanced shots with 5 hands in his face for most of the game and then when he makes an improbable 3 pointer against bad defense everyone forgets that his selfishness was the reason that LA hasn't blown the game out. This years finals have proven to me that I have been right about this guy all along. If the suns sign this guy, it will be very difficult for me to root for them anymore. I probably will anyway but it will suck watching them gut the team again a couple of years from now because they have to dump another selfish player because team chemestry has been shot to hell.

The point is, Kobe Bryant is one of a handful of people that would would want taking that shot. As soon as it left his hands, I knew it was going in. Can't say the same for the Duncan or Fisher shots in the second round.

He had some selfish moments, thats for sure. Although, 2 of the big 4 sucked it up AGAIN. I am sure he felt the need to try and pick up the slack.

Like I have said all along, if you are good enough, you have to be selfish. That has been one of Garnetts knocks for the pst few years. He never wanted to take over a game, even though he could.

Kobe is a top 5 talent, maybe top 3. Adding him will make our team that much better. If the players dont like playing with him, thats their problem. Until they start producing like he has his entire career, the Suns should just find other role players.

(Of course, if Amare and Kobe clash, we would just be the new Lakers in a year or two. I really dont see that happening though)

this is the funniest thing I have read all day. An "improbable shot" - like the two he hit against Portland in the last game of the season - or the shot he hit against San Antonio in Game 5 with 11 seconds left to give them the lead - or the shot he hit against the Suns back in 2000 over Jason Kidd - or - well - unfortunately - I could go on and on about all these "improbable shots" that Kobe has made which has led to the Lakers winning three titles - but they all make me sick to my stomach.

This guy is selfish because no one else on the team - except for Shaq - has the balls to do anything - Payton? Malone? Fisher - yes - and if you notice - who got Fisher the ball for the three when the Lakers were down 81-77 - would that be Kobe? Who gave Shaq the dish on one of the greatest alley-oops of all time at a key moment in the game against the Blazers back in 2000 - was that Kobe also? If you leave this team because we signed Kobe I'd say you were the most foolish person alive because you'd be missing us win championships.

And you really think team chemistry will be shot to hell? Do you think team chemistry in LA is shot - and if so - WHY DO THEY CONTINUE WINNING TITLES? Chemistry is garbage - I mean maybe this group together now has great Chemistry - BUT THEY ARE IN THE LOTTERY - i'd take the Lakers chemistry problems and titles over our "great chemistry" haven't gotten out of the second round since 1993 crap that we've been watching.
