NFL insider Mike Garafolo told us Trey Hendrickson would command likely a Day 2 pick and big money extension around $30M/AAV
I don't see any way Monti meets this price. He won't want to risk giving up another Tip Reiman level player for a top 5 pass rusher.

Well. Why is he on record of making an inquiry then?

This is public knowledge
He was obviously making a joke. But also, making an inquiry in no way means a GM is making a move or is interested in it. It' s just doing due diligence. As in "Oh, they're not going to take a 4th rounder for him? Okay, then no thanks." Or maybe the price is right? But I highly doubt it. Who here thinks Monti actually has the stones to make this move? All evidence to the contrary.

We simply do not know IMO.

The two last years it would not have made a lot of sense to make a move like this. It does now, but remains to be seen if something happens.

The ESPN breaking news of Garrett to Cardinals before the trade deadline didn’t come without some sort of negotiating by Monti so I would argue hen has the stones.

But without him executing that doesn’t mean much

I'm going to pretend you don't actually think trading a day-two pick for the defensive player of the year finalist pass rusher wouldn't have made sense for us last year when our major bar to the playoffs was the pass rush. Like, it would have been the absolute no brainer obvious thing to do.

And wait. Wait, wait, wait. You're pointing to a breaking story of something that didn't happen proving Monti has the stones to do anything? Right after saying we simply do not know? It means the exact opposite. He didn't actually do it LOL

What are you even talking about here?

Twisting my logic doesn’t make your more right.

Of course it would have helped if Monti would have pulled it off during the season. My point was that the roster wasn’t ready by this time last year and I do not believe Monti even looked in that direction at that moment.

It’s been widely reported that the team developed faster than Gannon and Monti thought it would and that is why Monti tried to trade for both Crosby and Garrett as it has been comfirmed he tried before the trade deadline.

On the stones. I clearly write that I believe that proves he has the stones when he tried BUT also that I’m not giving him credit before he actually executes on it. You can agree if the effort proves that but I’m making it very clear what my opinion is, but I cannot give credit yet. It there in black and white!

On Trey Hendriksen... Love the player.
But I aint comfortable giving up pick 47 in a year where defensive front is the strongest we have seen in years.
But, I would give up 2 thirds...maybe even a 3rd and a 5th this year and a third next year... dude is on the wrong side of 30 for a premium pick IMO...even if just barely

Yes, Monti inquired about him. That doesn't mean he will meet the asking price. He very well could have just been seeing what it would take to get him, hence the "inquiry" instead of an "offer."
