PJ wants to get wined and dined more than any chick I ever dated.

Brian Grant's deal was silly, but it's not like PJ has been playing for the MLE.

Right, he's made good money too, but he won't be getting monstrous checks at the same time as playing for the Suns. It shouldn't matter, but it often seems that players are focused on how much they are making "this season," conveniently forgetting the tens of millions they should already have saved up somewhere.

Why are people ignoring the possibility that he actually may just want to retire and spend time with his family?

Then why not come out and say this instead of acting like a queen getting flown to Phoenix on Phoenix's dime stringing them along?

He has been saying that. And where does it say that he went "on Phoenix's dime"? "Acting like a queen"? Wow. Project much?

They said on the news last night that Phoenix flew him into town. If he retires, that's called playing the team to get a free vacation or whatever his motive is

Dude, no one with millions of dollars wants an August vacation in Phoenix.

It said they flew him in? I didn't hear that. But I seriously doubt that he'd pretend to be interested in the Suns so that he could get a free flight to Phoenix in August.

I'm not saying he's trying for a free vacation, I was being facetious. What I am saying is if he turns around and retires, he was just playing the team for selfish reasons

So, he's not selfish right now, but if he ends up deciding to retire, then he was?

yeah, i don't get that one either. what's the selfish reason for coming to talk with the suns and then retiring? maybe he just needs to clarify some things with the organization. maybe he wants to speak to kerr face-to-face. retirement is a big decision (see how many athletes attempt comebacks), maybe he just really wants to make certain it's the right choice for him. i don't blame. i want him to sign soon (with us), but i don't blame him for exploring everything pretty acutely.

I really hope for the Suns sake this is true. I think PJ would be a big addition......PUN intended.

That does raise another question though. Will Kerr and D'Antoni back track yet again if this happens?

Will they then come out and say they are no longer going to pound small ball down the throats of every team in the NBA on the way to a title?

Things that make you go mmmmmmm.;)

Even if they pickup PJ Brown, they cannot play "big ball."

They have two bigs right now: Amare, Marks.

Adding PJ would make it three bigs. There is no way you can play "big ball" or even think about the notion of "big ball" with only three big men - one of them who hardly sees the court and his afraid of contact (Marks).

Do you realize most teams have 5 centers down their roster? Suns have two. Perhaps three with PJ. And they have zero power forwards.

What is going to happen is that PJ will sign and soon realize he isn't getting any playing time in that shallow 6-man rotation.

It's a shame.

I don't think the point of SteelDog's post was that we are suddenly changing our style of ball. It was more to see how the front office will sell us on this move. When Kurt was traded, it was because he "slowed us down", and "now we are able to play smaller and faster."

Adding PJ Brown is essentially adding a cheaper Kurt Thomas. So it will be interesting to see what they say if he signs, and whether or not they'll point to obvious. The obvious being our lack of size.

Nobody was saying they were. The point is that they have the bodies on the team to do so when teams like the Spurs force their match-ups against us. So far we have not been able to force the Spurs into submission with our small ball. We never have been able to.

I think it's safe to say that adding another big puts us in a better position then saying "hey lets just keep trying to do what hasn't worked so far with our small ball tactics".

Just curious. I haven't watched PJ's game that closely. How does he fit in KT's role. Is he a wash, a step backward, or an improvement.

Can you name some of ...wait any of these teams with 5 Centers who can even compete with the Suns? Your constant negativity towards the Suns since they dont want to play BIG ball is just silly. Go on and predict our first round exit as you have already and real fans of the team can sit back and enjoy us kicking the crap out of the rest of the NBA. That includes all these teams you think have 5 centers on their roster!

We sure manage to find weird stuff to argue about. My opinion is worth no more than any others, but here goes:

1. The Suns will add another big and PJ is clearly their first choice.

2. PJ has clear cut financial demands and won't sign unless they are met. Some of this is ego, but he is not going to get beaten down beyond a certain point.

3. Coming to Phoenix suggests that PJ and the Suns are close enough a deal is at least possible (probably now that it is clear that no one will meet his original demands).

3. The Suns are not willing to pay a lot, but will pay more than the vet minimum being offered by every other playoff team.

4. If signed, PJ will become a rotation player, but with fewer minutes than KT, more in the 10 to 12 range.

5. The Suns will not use the big lineup any more than they did last year, but with PJ it will be an option. The ideal would be to have Boris backup Amare while PJ backs up Shawn.

The difference is that Kurt Thomas is making $8 mill and PJ would be around the $2 mill range.

Other than that, not much of a difference.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with LT consideration the difference between 16 million versus 4 million. I believe the Suns are still over the LT.

Where in in my previous statement does it say teams with 5 centers CAN defeat Phoenix? Nowhere.

I simply stated that generally in the NBA, most teams have 5 centers. Phoenix has 3.

Stop trying to manipulate my words and trying to form some stupid argument for argument's sake...

Well, assuming PJ joins, they'd essentially have the same roster as last year with exception to PJ instead of Kurt.

Having said that, a healthy Kurt and Amare did not stop the Spurs.

What makes u think a PJ and Amare would?

My point is that Suns need another big man on top of PJ. That is where I am going with this...

Hill > Jones too. :)

Yes, correct.

But Hill > Jones can be debatable and questionable.

Hill is older. Has a history of injury problems. Is much slower.

Jones is younger. Can shoot the 3-pter bettter percentage-wise, and can run in the system. Not to mention a decent defender.

So I am not sure I put Hill over Jones. Nor am I sure about PJ over Kurt. I think Suns definately downgraded this season.

Only plus is they have 2 rookies to look forward to and hopefully making them excell in the years to come. Two really good defenders, btw.
