I personally dont have an issue with how much pro athletes make because I look at how much the Bidwill family has made. Fitzgeralds wealth is quite a bit smaller compared with how much the Bidwill family is worth.
The older retired players who played in the 1960's and beyond also got nothing to very little added to their benefits, afaik. A real shame.

Not jealous. Not even a little bit.

The players have a small window to make as much as they can. The generate the revenue. Michael Bidwill watches in the stands just like you and I.

What is funny is how complicit and blind so many of you are in this scheme. :doi:
Playing in the NFL is another in a long line of voluntary transactions.
No one is being screwed. They deserve what they are getting. All of them.

Michael Bidwill built nothing :)

He fits into the category of silver spoon in mouth billionaire.

Sidenote: One thing we havent heard much about is what happened to ownership after Bill's death. Bill Jr. and Nicole Bidwill arent listed any where on the team's website and I havent found anything published.

Would there be a now State Farm Stadium without Michael Bidwill?

They aren't getting nearly what the NBA or MLB is getting percentage wise and the tend to make less and have shorter careers.

If you cant see what I'm talking about and getting caught up on the word "screwed", then I don't know what to tell you.

Look at the lifespan of an NFL offensive linemen, most of these guys die in their late 50s. They deserve a higher share of the profit than MLB.

They only deserve what they negotiate for and vote to pass and not a dime more. They have the power to stop playing and leverage the owners for more money they chose not to. Again not caught up on anything or the word screwed if anyone screwed them? they did it to themselves…

It’s not like they didn’t have a Say or any recourse… You want more money go on strike... Force the owners hand.

You have to take into consideration that they have twice as many members (2400 vs 1200) as the MLBPA and over four times as many as the NBAPA (500 IIRC). that seriously matters when you are discussing a percentage of the pie and how many are taking their slice.

The players understood the sport they were getting into and the lifespan and health risks involved and still...... They decided to make this their career (voluntary). Decided to sign their contracts (voluntary). Decided to form a union (voluntary). Decided on their union bylaws (voluntary). Voted on their union representation (voluntary). Then they have collectively bargained (voluntary). The representation opened the vote up to the full voting body (voluntary & in accordance with their bylaws). Extended the time for player voting to make sure all voices who wanted to be heard, would be heard (voluntary). Voted accordingly (voluntary).

Now........ Tell me again how the NFLPA had anything done to them? Screwed or otherwise.

100% Agree. It's truly odd to think anything other than this.

I’ve heard many of the players were concerned about the near-term financial future of the league. If they didn’t approve it and with the players facing lockouts and a cancelled season there might not be a check for a long time.
Just so you know David Kaplan of the Athletic reached the same conclusion in an article today
