I just wanted to start a list of players who have been verified in visiting AZ or where the Cardinals scouts have been mentioned as being at their pro day...

LB Victor Ochi - Stony Brook
WR Corey Core - Ole Miss
DL Robert Nkemdiche - Ole Miss
QB Jeff Drickel - Louisiana Tech
LB Luke Rhodes - William & Mary
DB Tavon Young - Temple
DB Morgan Burns - Kansas St.
QB Cardele Jones - Ohio St.
QB Dak Prescott - Miss St.
OLB Noah Spence - Eastern Kentucky
LB Devondre Campbell - Minnesota

That is all I can think of right now...

I like the idea of bringing in either a QB or a front seven player the most.

The front seven player helps us out immediately and makes some of the decisions the Cardinals will have to make in the next few years easier (letting Calais Campbell walk).

I want the Cardinals to win now, but if they have a chance to identify and groom Palmer's successor, they need to do that now!

The only two I could see who would be available and considered as a viable 1-2 year project would be Paxton Lynch and Cardale Jones. Both are raw and need lots of coaching. Goff and Wentz won't be available and everyone else is just a wasted draft pick, IMO.

Those are the two I'm most intrigued by. What I fear is that the Cardinals have a shot at neither without trading up (Up in round one for Lynch, Up in round two for Jones).

I think both have the skill set the Cardinals need to look for in Arians offense. Big QBs with arm talent that have some athleticism. Arians' offense doesn't require an athlete, but it would be more effective with one.

Both carry pretty good risk, but I think the Cardinals are at a point where they can assume some risk, even though they do need to consider stocking some positions for future decisions (DL, WR, DB).

Please sticky ?

Love these types of threads during draft time. Good place to know who the Cardinals are looking at.

I don't think that either of them are particularly special prospects that you'd want to give up assets to acquire. When you listen to Keim talk about evaluating QBs, he talks a lot about being in love with a particular prospect. I think he'd take a guy if it fell into his lap (like Logan Thomas did), but they're not going to give up assets to get a replicable prospect like these guys.

My POV on this is it's worth taking the risk to move up and get someone if they're unique — Michael Vick, Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck, RG3. But if you're convincing yourself that you need to make a move to pick up a guy who could be the next Joe Flacco? Wait until next year.

I agree completely. I also wouldn't spend anything near a 2nd for Jones.

Not arguing that we should, only that I would want them with the pick we are at (#29 and #92 respectively).

Both are a bit raw to a greater (Jones) and lesser (Lynch) extent, but offer tools that can be molded. The issue with Thomas is that his accuracy could not be fixed, and I haven't seen anything from Jones or Lynch to believe that either have the accuracy issues that Thomas did.

I agree, but I think the wait until next year mantra is going to be the death of Arians/Keim. I think the Cardinals are going to hit a point in time after Palmer that the team takes a significant downturn without getting a QB. The solution? Keep trying to address it until the team finds a young guy to develop. Every year the team needs to look for the guy they want.

Well, we don't have a second, so we wont have to worry about that unless we trade back, and even then, I don't think Keim is considering him until the 3rd or later.

TBH, I think the draft only yields one true QBoF, and that's Goff (I haven't seen enough of Wentz to formulate an opinion one way or the other), but that does not mean that you don't pick a guy who doesn't have the potential to thrive in the offense down the road when, inevitably, Palmer declines/retires.

I know my mind is slipping....but historically speaking...it seams we rarely draft the players we have in for workouts...almost like they stay away from the guys they really like so they don't tip their hand.

The Cardinals said as much about David Johnson; the team stated they didn't bring him in for a personal work out because they didn't want to tip off how interested they were.

Interesting list, considering William Jackson III is projected to us in 1st sometimes and he's not on the list. Plus the David Johnson info above.

Eh. I dunno. I don't think that it's as hard to bring in a servicable starter as people think—if you're willing to give up something for them. If Palmer retires/his contract runs out, and we offer a 1st and 3rd rounder for Jay Cutler or Matt Stafford or even Matt Ryan, those teams are going to think about it. I think a team like Tampa would jump at the chance to unload Mike Glennon for a 2nd, and his moral equivalents are available every year.

I just really doubt the potential of a mid-round pick to develop into even an adequate starter within a reasonable amount of time. It happens, but you have to deal with growing pains to end up with someone as middling as Kirk Cousins.

Cousins threw for 29 TDs last year. Only 2 Cardinals QBs have ever done better. I would take Cousins in a heartbeat.

I hope you are right with that assumption, that the Cardinals can pick up an established veteran for not too much draft capital...
