Was having this conversation on another site and the question is how many players in the NFL (at their current age and contract situations) would you trade your next three 1st round picks for? For the Cards obviously...

Any non-QB's at a position of need worth that much?

I'd consider doing it for a young Adrian Peterson or Julius Peppers but that might be because we've always been so weak at those spots. I watch other teams play and I find myself daydreaming about what it would be like to cheer for a team that could get to the QB with just a 3 man rush. Or hand the ball off to a guy that could put 4 yards in the bank every time he touches the ball.

Rodgers, Luck. That's it.

If Von Miller hadn't had suspension and injury problems, he would've been the only non-QB to merit consideration.

Luck would be the only other close one only thing is he really isn't proven yet esp in the playoffs

Rodgers is the only player even close.....I like Palmer, but if you put Rodgers on this team as it sits....this offense scores 600 points...hell, maybe 700

If I had to choose based on the OP's restrictions, Luck would be alone at the top of the list. Rodgers is already 30 and while we've seen some QB's play well at older ages, I'd be reluctant to give away 3 picks for a guy who's likely to start declining in 3 or 4 years.

On offense: Luck.
On defense: JJ Watt.

3 or 4 super bowl appearances would be worth it.

For those saying luck why wouldn't you choose Wilson? He has a ring and is probably the most efficient qb in the league

3 1rst Rounders for a younger AP???

Not in a million years, look at the teams that threw the house at securing their franchise RB.. How'd that work out?
If it was a defensive player, he better average 2 pick sixes or multiple sacks every game.
Only an Elite QB is worth that price, and even that... RARELY.

Younger Manning, Rodgers.. possibly Luck.

Rodger's age kinda snuck up on me but there's no wear & tear from his first 3 years in the league. Brady and Manning are still elite into their late-30's.

As good as Wilson is (and I defend him a lot) I just wouldn't give all that up for a 5' 10' quarterback. Rodgers/Luck are elite physical talents.

On offense: Luck.
On defense: JJ Watt.

Watt-Williams-Cambell

Not sure how that wouldn't guarantee us the #1 defense for the foreseeable future. Watt is THAT dominant.

Sure, our first round picks will be low ones for the next few years. So sure. Luck or Russell. NO other position but QB though. The possibility of injury is just too great to gamble on any other position except QB.

I could live with trading Levi Brown, DRC and Beanie for AP (or some combination of Leinart, LJ Shelton, Thomas Jones, Bryant Johnson or Leonard Davis). We've done pretty well with our 1st rounders for awhile now but there was a stretch of them that I'd gladly trade for an edge pass rusher or a workhorse running back.

You trade (or use) one first rounder on a starting quarterback.
Two for a playoff winning quarterback.
Three for a HOF quarterback on the correct side of 30.

Ok, so your talking about a scenario where you go back in time, and make it so Rod Graves parents never meet.

Who is this Rod Graves guy everyone mentions? I only remember the good stuff, it helps me sleep at night.

It would have to be a young player at a key position that already are playing at a super elite level.

Rodgers and Luck would be the only ones.

DE Watt and LT Trent Williams would be the only others that I would consider, but I doubt a non-QB would be worth it.

Andrew Luck
Aaron Rodgers (though he has yet to win a big game and is a prick)

Only non QB to be considered, JJ Watt. Reason being is age (25) and ability to rush the passer from the 3-4 DE position which is a very unique trait. Watt and Campbell as 3-4 DEs for the next 5 years is pretty enticing.
