other than the moves we know about (i.e. signing Padgett, Bell, Burke, etc.), I have this feeling that this is it for the Suns other than the possibility of Hunter coming back which as each day passes and he is not signed by someone else seems like more and more of a reality.

There are guys out there that I thought the Suns would move on and they haven't done any such thing. Incidently, I do believe that eventually the JJ deal with the Hawks will go through.

If my fears are accurate, I will be very disappointed in this off-season. What do you think?

I think the offseason was lame Bob Dole will certainly not be a factor IMO, despite what others seem to believe or say abut his ball handling skills. The 2 picks are nice.

Bell I am big fan of

Thomas, well see, he is old he might suck or break down, we'll just have to see. I think this is AC green all over again.

However, we still have Amare and Nash so we should still be pretty darn good not a top 5 team but definately top 10.

still have Marion...great player as long as he doesn't start trying to replace Q by hawking up threes.

no the big move of the summer is the resigning of amare. we have our team now why do we need to think about something or someone else. bring back hunter, with kt, amare, and marion we have a very good frontline. add bell to nash, barbosa and jjaz and we have a solid back court. could it be better? yes. can we do it without bring in POS or going way over the cap? nope i dont think so. so yea this is our team.

With apologies to Shaq, Amare will be the biggest signing of this off season in the WHOLE NBA!

Minimally, I think the Suns will add a PG and another big man to their roster who have the ability to play now.

I'm still hopeful about Steven Hunter. I could also easily see Casey Jacobsen adding depth at SG.

I have to disagree with the opinion that we might be a top 10 team. I don't think we're any worse than last year. We're still in the top 4 IMO. Despite our losses, we added players that helped our weaknesses. I really like the additions. Also, you have to take into account the natural progression of Amare, which, if the playoffs were any indication, could be huge. I'm really looking forward to this team!

wow now thats some false optimism right there. The thing that bothers me the most is that this was looking to be one of the most exciting upcoming NBA seasons. Pacers, Heat, and Nets have completly reloaded and look great going into the new season. Spurs and Pistons will likely maintain there top dog status and Denver and Dallas w/ full years w/ their new coachs should be alot better for the full season. I even like the Rockets to become big threats as Tmac again destroys the L......And all i wanted was JJ on this current team and i would say we dont take a back seat to any of them. I cant say that now........

We got rid of Q who was purely a bad 3 point chucker and replaced him with KT. Q took the most 3's last year and he wasn't even in the top 30 for 3PFG%. KT has scoring potential and 10 rebounds a game and allows amare and marion to return to their natural positions.

+1 for the suns.

We lost JJ and I guess technically replaced him with Bell. I am not sure how to look at this one not in the future (young JJ) but during the upcoming season, you could call it even or say maybe it's a bit of a minus. Let's just consider it a small minus.

-1 for the suns

Either way I would say the suns are in the same spot if not a little better then they were last year. My problem with this though is that means we are still not contenders against the spurs. Especially since they are improving this year.

I wouldn't say it's false optimism at all. I'm not the only one that shares this opinion. To go along with the post right above this one, I think we definately gained in the Q trade, especially because of Q's lack of production in the playoffs. KT adds a bunch to this team, as does Bell. Along with the natural progression of Amare on defense (and offensive) and with Marion and Bell, this team suddenly has the makeup for a solid defensive rotation.

You also have to consider that our bench is going to be better, and that we still have some room to make more moves (even if we have to wait until the trade deadline, like Detroit did with Rasheed Wallace two years back). We played the Spurs very tough without JJ, and with Marion and Q nonexistent. That was all Nash and Amare and we were pretty damn tough. I still think we're in the top 4.

I think there are four teams in the West who will be competing for a title. The Phoenix Suns, and the entire state of Texas.

In the East, you've got a legitimate top three with Indianna, Detroit and Miami. All three of them could be argued as the best in the East. The way I see it, we're a minimum top 7 team, but I would say top 5. In no particular order: San Antonio, Phoenix, Miami, Detroit, Atlanta.
