I went down and watched practice this afternoon so I'll share some of my observations. I didn't take notes or anything so please forgive any lameness on my part.

The players wore shorts with shoulder pads and helmets, so there wasn't any real hitting.

Arrington was the #1 kick returner during kickoff practice while Diamond Ferri seemed to be the #2, at least for today.

Like most everyone else there, I mostly I watched Leinart and he was very impressive. As media reports have stated, Matt is clearly #2 on this team. During 11-on-11 drills he took probably 80% of the snaps, with Warner taking about 15% and Navarre 5%. The team is working hard on getting Matt ready for New England. I'd be surprised if he doesn't play between a quarter and a half.

I'm just a layman, like most of us, but Matt Leinart is the real deal! The guy can make all the throws. He can zing the 10-yard out, make the touch passes and the long bomb. And his throws are accurate!

As far as I'm concerned, the people who say that Matt doesn't have the arm strength to play in the NFL are either talking out of their butt, or they're just haters. Depending on how quickly Leinart picks up the NFL game, I predict that he is going to be pushing Warner for the starting job sooner rather than later.

That's about it. It was a pretty short practice and the second team got the majority of the work. If I think of anything else of significance, I'll post it.

I always think about guys like Drew Brees and Tom Brady who were also considered to have "subpar" arms, but gained zip as they grew stronger and more mechanically sound in the NFL.

I ALMOST feel bad for Navarre.....almost. Matt comes in and in less than a day he is taking john's snaps. :biglaugh: Again though he is getting a nice salary and will have one of the best seats in the house at the end of the bench.

You know I feel a little bad for Warner until I think about it then I don't.

He's paid piles of money and Leinart is our Warner cattle prod, not to put too fine a point on it.

He's got to be saying to himself that he's got to stay on the field and he's got to produce, he does not want Matt on that field for any length of time, he may never get his job back.

This is going to work in our favor big time, Warner focused and driven will take us to the playoffs IMO, I'll be happy if he fights off Leinart for two or more years, fine by me because to do that he's got to win.

thank you very much...what is nice about the group that reports back to the rest of is that the comments appear non-emotional, objective, devoid of words like super, great, unbelievable etc......that is a good thing...gives the reader a lot more confidence in what they are reading ...a very nice report indeed!!

It's the next day and I'm still giddy about our QBOF. (Don't worry, I'm not going to go all "Tango" on you :D ) I can't believe 9 other teams passed on Matt. There's a reason that he was predicted to go #1 last year. Sometimes I think coaches/GM's/owners just out-think themselves.

He's got all the intangibles. You can see how the other players respond to him. As Russ and some others have stated, the kid is just a natural leader. He just has "it". In just the short time he's been with the team it is obvious how much the other players already like and respect him. He also throws as tight a spiral as you've ever seen!

It won't be long until this is "Matt's team". I love Kurt, but I think his days are numbered. Unless he has a Pro Bowl-type year, Matt will be our starting QB to start next season, at the latest.

G.B., Oakland, Buffalo, Tennessee and Detroit are going to be kicking themselves for passing on Matt. I bet Norm Chow has had some sleepless nights since the draft. Maybe the injury concerns are what caused Matt to drop to us because only injuries can derail his career IMO. I'm so glad he decided to go back and take Ballroom Dancing! Matt Leinart is going to make Alex Smith look like Tony Sacca. :)

I know I'm going a bit overboard after watching just one practice, but I'm that excited. I can't wait to see him in action on Saturday. (Of course he will probably go 1-12 with three pics and make me look like a fool now).

We have gotten more press and national TV coverage in the past two weeks than in the past two years. I see the Cards on ESPN and other sport shows almost daily.

Who knows for sure the claim among USC fans is Matt only slipped because after the Titans picked Young, we were the next team that wanted a QB. To me that doesn't wash, you want Matt Leinart you trade up, like denver tried to do(with Buffalo) before settling for 11 so they could get Cutler. There was some reason Matt fell and I gotta believe it was the prior arm surgeries or something because you just don't see a guy that good with that kind of success in college.

It's tough because on the one hand I would love Warner to play so well and stay so healthy that Matt doesn't have to play, but on the other hand, I can't wait to see matt Leinart play.

Really looking forward to the Pats game, I don't care if he might not be ready, best way to get ready is facing live action.
