Brogdon would have been ideal. Maybe here is an unsung pg like this out there somewhere in the draft like Brogdon was. You know. Big guy, defensive expert, upper classman, ready to go now. Like a Davon Reed, but a pg.

Or, there is the possibility that we run an Offense similar to the Triangle under Jackson where Davon Reed (or someone like) could be the Ron Harper type "PG".

Just watching Alonzo Trier highlights and imagining him paired with Booker. Two 6'5 guys who can handle the ball and are lights out shooters.

There will be players like this available in this draft even with second round picks.

Trier currently is being mocked in the second round but PHX needs a shooter / scorer like Trier to help out Booker. I think Trier & Allen are the two best pure shooters in this year's draft and not a fan of Allen and his dirty tactics. Trier is explosive and can score from all three levels on the floor. I think PHX trades some of this year's picks as they can have as many as six if all the protections aren't met. So hopefully they keep either a late 1st rounder or an early second rounder to secure him.

I will be happy when DraftExpress does their 2018 mock draft and scouting reports. NBA Draft.net is nice but I like the detailed analysis from DraftExpress.

I think Collin Sexton has already been mentioned but Lamar Peters is near the same ranking for point guards in the NBADraft.net mock.

DraftExpress no longer updates, right? They replaced Chad Ford at ESPN, didn't they?

My understanding is that once they took the ESPN job, they decided to leave the old DraftExpress site up but not make updates. All of their stuff is now behind the Insider subscription at espn.com

good find JCS... I've tripped over it a couple of times but this time I kept the link.

One thing I found in the article about Simmons was list of the most prolific forwards as finishers from P&R ball handling. Alec Peters led the list among all drafted forwards over the last decade. (I must confess, I'm not entirely clear what the statistical category means, but it must be something good!) I'm impatient to see Alec on the floor.

Yes. He had some injury issues, but when he was healthy he posed real problems for opposing teams. The kid has a fantastic shot and is a good rebounder. He reminds me of Kevin Love somewhat.

It's interesting they only have one player in tier 1 (Luka Doncic) and 1 player in tier 2 (Micael Porter).

There are five tiers from what I can tell.

IMO, it's a little early for this.

There are some who believe that Doncic will be a pg in the NBA.

The same people that thought Dragan Bender was the next coming maybe.

Doncic is not a PG, he is a good playmaker but definitely not a PG as for starter he will never be able to effectivel guard NBA caliber PGs.

Doncic is a great talent but not an awkward fit and Ayton, Bagley and Young are great talents too. Porter probably as well. Bamba is raw.

Anyone think it is significant that Trae Young spent time last summer hanging out with Devin Booker and Alan Williams?

While I am not advocating for Doncic over others, he most definitely is a point guard. He is Dejan Bodiroga who can shoot. You are correct that he couldn't guard point guards, but his offensive game is that of a point guard. Either way, he is a play maker. Whether you list him as a PG, SG, or SF is irrelevant.
