Everyone says hire a new GM, but nobody says who. If you don't have a replacement, it's stupid to just make a change for change's sake.
To be fair, in other threads people have been mentioned by name. Charlie Casserly, for one. But I go back to the real problem: the Bidwills do not want someone to make decisions, they want someone who will execute their wishes. Rod graves or some other patsy, it doesn't matter. It just doesn't matter.

that kind of thinking leaves you satisfied with GM's like Graves and Millen. Look at how fast Martin Mayhew has turned Detroit from 0-16 to a likley playoff berth this year and a team with as bright a future as any NFC team out there.
In that same time Graves has taken a SB team(based mainly on DG's players) to a team drafting in the top 5 and in contention for the #1 overall pick. I remember, like a recurring nightmare, after DG was fired, Graves announcing to everyone that he was in charge of all football decisions. Nice job, RG.

I voted for a new GM because all the other options flow from that. But unrealistic/impossible as it may be, a "new ownership" option would win in a landslide.

Graves not being a real GM is simply the embodiment of ownership not wanting one. Frankly, it's not surprising that we have a coach in charge of personnel rather than additionally paying a real GM more than they likely pay Graves. Speculation on my part, but I would love to see what Graves makes in comparison to someone like Polian.

Ugh, now that I think about Cards/Colts comparisons, clearly Warner was our Peyton Manning, as evidenced by our current squads. Only Polian drafted Manning, and he may draft Luck this year. The Cards acquired Warner as an FA and most likely lucked into his great couple years in the desert.

Today Fire the GM and reach out to either Charlie Casserly or Tony Dungee.

Fire the entire coaching staff.

Cut your losses with Kolb(if he is not willing to restructure the BS contract), Bradley, and Joey Porter at the end of the season.

Move Levi to Guard or tell him to hit the pavement.

Hire John Gruden and bring his brother Jay over as Asst HC/OC. Bring in a Tampa 2 defensive scheme and Draft Andrew Luck with the 1st overall pick.

And Get Rid of Matt Holliday, that guy is effing worthless...oh, wait, wrong Cardinals.

THIS ONE IS FOR YOU KOC. TIM WE DID IT.
I went with other. Run the ball, run the ball, run the ball. This Oline was BUILT as a run smashing oline where they LOVE to get the run call in the huddle so they can let loose and crush someone, not backpedal and tippytoe and play pattycake.

I agree with every word.

Except I doubt we can end up with the #1 pick, and I dont think we can lure Gruden in without drafting Luck.

I love the idea but there is one problem with that. The Defense is so bad that the Cards would be down 21-0 in every game before they could let loose and crush anyone and we'd be back to passing on every down.

Graves is like a bad contractor. He builds you a house but the foundation is crumbling so he puts in new doors.

In 4 years as the GM for Houston, he won 18 games. His last stint as a GM was from 2003 - 2006 and he has been in broadcasting for the past 5 years. Is this what will help this team win?

He's been with the Ravens for the past 15 years. Do you really think he would quit there to work with the Cardinals?
First, if we compensated him enough, hell yes. Second, he is young and it would make him a very powerful person in the NFL if he could turn the Cardinals.

I don't know of too many people that turn down a promotion. Especially when Ozzie Newsome isn't going anywhere for a long time. The dysfunction of the Cards FO may be enough to keep people away though.

If he's given legitimate power to make football decisions, yes. He will help this team win.

Most any professional football GM will help this team if given the opportunity to affect change.

sorry 40, but plenty of people have said who and it's stupid to not make change when the team's been an epic disaster for the overwhelming majority of Graves' time here. It's encumbent on the team to do it's due diligence, actually figure out who's available and respected out there and bring someone in that knows what they're doing.

I WISH he put in new doors! graves goes out and grabs old doors from the scrap yard and touts them as a good part of the core of the house.

The system works. We have every confidence that the tarps and cardboard can make excellent doors.

The problem is the carpenters are just not making inlays. "The System Works" and the carpenters should be able to execute simple screw adjustments using a butter knife.
