I have a snake that lives in a hole in the ground next to where I park my car. He is the dumbest snake in the state of Arizona since he apparently has no idea he is supposed to be inside that hole when it is 115 degrees outside and not out slithering around on my driveway.

His name is Howard and he is a Coachwhip. When I go out I yell 'Yo! Howard! I'm comin' out. Please go somewhere else for 10 minutes." No. I do not need to be asked if I am worried that he'll get into my car. That thought has already crossed my mind. More than once. Every time I hear a noise that seems to be coming from somewhere under the driver's seat it crosses my mind.

I live in South It has been so dry here , that the snakes are desperate for water and cooling down on something like a car port's pavement.

Same here. It's been so dry that Javelina's are starting to brave the suburbs. Seen 4-5 in home driveways the last month which I have never seen before.

Scorps for me haven't been a problem this year although local news says they are invading homes at record levels. You can't spray for them, only kill their food paths and hope they go to your neighbors house instead of yours. (that sounds bad but well, ya gotta do what ya gotta do)

Send this email to Kolb, Bartel, and Skelator. They'll take care of those Javs.

Others who could help out: Former Texas High School players, Money Mike Adams, Rex Hadnot, Rob Housler, Daryl Washington and Stephen Williams.

Cards have former HS stars from 21 different states.

be careful jw7, those boys can have a mean temper and nothing to treat lightly and you probably know this, if one does chase you...run in zig zags, they have horrible peripheral vision. The snakes here in Texas are unreal right now. Cottonmouths and copperheads are bad too and not just the rattlers. Usually around here the copperheads stay closer to central south Texas and they have been moving down farther south. Hot and dry and all the animals are getting brave in order to survive, and don't get me started on skunks as well LOL. Funny, I have not seen many scorpions, but they usually move when a front blows through and the weather changes and it has just been hot here, real hot. To top off my year I got bit by a Brown Recluse spider in May and lucky my body fought it off pretty well. These are the signs of hell about to freeze over again since all the heat is escaping up to earth and the Cardinals getting to a second Super Bowl!!! ;)

I've only seen them from my car. But, yeah, I would not come within 20 yards of them if I was walking. They really seem calm and docile which I am sure is deceptive. Hope no little kids try to approach.

You can get a license to hunt them in AZ, I believe.

I'm sure there is a joke in there, but I'm just not getting it DJ. :clueless:

There was a story a while back about Kolb and Hog hunting.

Kolb is an avid hunter; he hunts wild hogs with a couple of dogs and a 12-inch Bowie knife. He asserts that controlling the hog population is an

It was even mentioned in a thread here on ASFN. Hunting Javelinas and Feral Hogs is something that is done a lot in Texas. And of course Bartel and Skelator are also Texas boys.

Gotcha, thanks. Tell Kolb and the other Texans to come to Ahwatukee and put some Javy on a BBQ.

They have increased the hunting season on wild hogs here in Texas because they have really gotten out of control population wise. They are pretty smart and have adapted well to surving in an environment where humans have claimed so much of the rural area which used to be uncleared. The scary thing is when they come out at night, they can total a vehicle if you hit them and some get really large. They get in the middle of the road and they usually don't move. Hope Kolb can bag a bunch of Hogs in the next game. Used to hunt when I was younger but I won't hunt wild hog, cleaning those things puts up a stink which is unbearable

Very hard to kill too. Can get up to 600lbs. The damage they can do while feeding to golf courses and pastures and yards etc. is amazing.

Question: Has anyone noticed Russ Grimm keeping a safe distance from Kolb on the sidelines? :)

Larry's snake is a gopher snake

their markings are a little similar to a rattlesnake. They also will twist up their tail like they are a rattler and make a hiss that sounds like a rattlesnake's rattle.

All bluff and no bite.

Also have somehow learned to flatten their head to look even more like a Rattler.

Yes we do have rattlesnakes and scorpions along with monsoons and some dust storms here in the Valley of the Sun. We also have 360 days of sunshine, no tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, snowstorms, icy roads or freezing weather. Additionally, I haven't shoveled snow since I left Minneapolis in 2002.
There is a good reason why people retire here and/or are snowbirds.

Off Topic but a funny Javelina story, I was hunting one year down near petagonia (maybe the right spelling), south of Tucson. Just got out of the truck early in the morning and there are two of them about 75 yards away. I picked out the biggest one raise my 30/06 shot him right through the neck. He just looked at my started snorting and charged me. I ain't no fool so I jump up on the truck pulled out my .45 and shot him again as he slid up and rammed the truck.

We're some hard core fans aren't we? We have a big game with the Redskins Sunday and all we're talking about are Snakes, Javelinas and Pat Down lines.

This is what happens when everybody's positive.

:D

Of course I guess it is sort of appropriate to be talking about Skorpions on ASFN.
