Possible Cards trip to London? Tell me more!

They announced jags, raiders and falcons for London next year.

Would be great if we were one of the 'away' teams.

Here are the Raiders Visitors for 2014:

As far as potential opponents the Raiders could face in London, Oakland has home games against Buffalo, Miami, Arizona, San Francisco and the AFC South team that finishes in the same place, in addition to AFC West opponents Denver, San Diego and Kansas City.

So in theory there is a 1 in 8 chance of the Cards going.

But if you look at the history of NFL games in London, you will see there has never been an intradivision game played there. So that leave the Cards at a 1 in 5 chance.

Next, if you look again at the history, 7 of the 8 NFL games were interconference, so that leaves the Cards and San Francisco.

I'm sure the NFL would prefer the 49ers, but I don't know if they really want to take the battle for the Bay away from SF Bay area fans.

I think the Cards have a better than 50% chance of being picked.

It would most likely be the week before a bye. As long as they had a home game scheduled after the possible bye, their body clock should be back on track.

For me, 2 or 3 days after arriving is when my body clock is whacked adjusting to the time traveling across the pond.

I don't understand why the NFL decided it was a good idea toplayany games over there.. I read comments after the games and the UK people just talk crap about the NFL.. Just feels like stubbornness trying to get it to work..

I think it's practically a certainty that the Cards go for the simple reason that of all the Raiders home games, the Cards are likely the worst draw for the Raiders

It's a money thing -- notice that that teams that they send overseas as the home team tend to be teams with crappy stadium situations that don't always draw well.

Obviously it would be great to see them play but I usually come over for a couple of games anyway as my folks are still in AZ so it isn't that big a deal. What I am wary of is how inconsistant our form is, especially on the road, and how that will be affected by the trip.

That being said, most other sports are playing games overseas and sports are a global brand. There's certainly no shortage of people who want to go to the games - they're going to fill an 80,000 seat stadium three times in a short period of time for what is still a growing fan base.

Agree, the games are well covered and well attended and pull in support from across Europe.

Raiders v Cards would be fantastic, particularly as i go to London games anyway with a Raiders mate.

Do you got anything to back this up?

The games (74,000 seats) usually sells out within a couple of hours and 100,000+ attend the NFL experience in Regent Street over the 3 days where they shut it down.

I attended the Vikings game two weeks ago and was amazed about the set-up.

The NBA and the MLB are starting to play overseas and the NCAA are playing games in Ireland - the second game will be played at the start of next season. I don't think we are far from a Premier League game played in Asia to be honest. Saracens also played a game in Dubai - I think it was Dubai.

These days owners from all sports want their teams to have global appeal. Teams aren't teams anymore, they are brands. How often do we see Yankees merchandise on those with no idea that their wearing the logo of a baseball team. Even UCLA are able to sell their merchandise overseas like a sports clothing label.

There is a huge market for the NFL here and elsewhere in Europe and the fans are not ignorant of the way the game is played.

Still not sure all this means that we should be handing precious home games to a neutral venue, or travelling such a distance for an away game, but the market will dictate the future. If the Cards play in London I will be there, no doubt.

From a team perspective, given a choice of playing in the Black Hole or Wembley Stadium, I'd pick the latter every time. Of course, there is that issue of a very long plane ride.

both teams are very much affected by the trip, not just us so I would be fine with it but only because it is an away game. If it was a home game I would hate the idea.

Play the Giants in NYC. Play the Raiders in London (Without coming home) then have our Bye. That is the only plausible way IMO.

I am expecting it to be Buffalo. Their owner would probably be the first team to want to go there.

The had a half-million people show up for a pep rally the day before the Steeler/Viking game. We're going to see more teams playing over there. In fact, I'll bet we see a Super Bowl there in our lifetime. It's become more of a corporate than a fan based event anyway. If London comes up with the cash, the game will head over there.

I played 12 yrs of soccer so while over there I wanted to go to a game in England. I was stationed by Ipswitch so went there to see them play. It was good. Was going to London one weekend with my girlfriend so on base they were selling tickets to a Fulham game. Bought them and went to Craven Cottage and the experience was awesome compared to Ipswitch. Been following them ever since.
