Ragone, Kitna, Wright...I don't know. I would still take McCown as the #2 over those guys. Not saying it will happen but sometimes things aren't as bad as they seem until you see the alternative.

Actually, someone I'd give a shot to is Ryan Van Dyke. He was really good in NFLE(2,000+ yards and 16 td's in 2004) and is in the Arena League right now. He's 6'5" and only 25 years old.

What do we want any of these guys for? We need to draft a QBoF to take over when Warner is done. If not, we will be having this same conversation next year.

It's statements like this that make me think you really just want to extend Warner's career with the Cardinals. If they go into the next couple of years with only Navarre and a guy like Van Dyke we'll be begging Warner to stay.

I like Craig Nall, although I've only seen him in preseason and garbage time, he looked decent.

I agree with you, especially seeing Palmer go down yesterday on just the second snap of a playoff game. We have been so void of real playoff potential that we are not thinking about just how critical a serviceable back up is. Resign josh and draft a QBOF.

Look, I like giving guys who've paid their dues a shot, especially when they've shown potential, haven't had any injuries (that I know of in this particular case), would be inexpensive to experiment with and would work their ass off to prove themselves.

I don't know if Van Dyke can make it but I'd still like to see him get a shot. The Card's are in a position to give him a shot. There are other teams but I don't figure anyone around here wants to discuss the prospective roster for the Saints.

I'm going to save everyone a lot of guesswork and let you know that if I want to make a point about extending Warner's career I'll make it. If nothing else, I should have established by now that I'm not in the habit of beating around the bush or lacing my posts with ulterior motives. So, when it comes to this years draft, there aren't any qb's that I would take at the cost it would take to get them. I don't think there's a future Elway or Aikman in the lot so I wouldn't take one in the first round. Since there isn't a first rounder out there, I would go a different route and explore what guy's like Davey and Van Dyke had to offer. I've seen them play and I've seen them succeed in professional football and they have a fire that college qb's just can't understand yet. Plus, they're cheap. If they don't pan out, it's no hit to the cap.

I agree. Why can't we resign both Josh and Warner? I think we need both of them.

It seems to be a given that McCown will be gone but I'm not exactly sure of the reason. I've seen people mention that Green is already saying that Navarre will be the #2 next year so apparently he "knows" JM is gone already. Does anyone know if that's because Green wants him gone or because Josh has decided to move on or that he wants a fresh start? I just haven't seen any quotes regarding the situation.

I don't know much about this guy, but I'd like to see what he can do. Had him in Madden last year, I know not an indicator of anything, and he won 3 SB's with the Cards. He was never given an opportunity to showcase his skills playing behind Favre. Wouldn't cost much and at worst would be the 3rd string QB.

dp, you shouldn't have even made the correlation. Anything done in Madden is automatically thrown out the window.

I believe that Josh feels he'll be a starter somewhere else. The rumor was out there at one point that other teams are very interested in him.

It is a shame about JM actually...

If you watched the Panther game yesterday, you saw what happens to ANYONE who can't get a block OR a running game accomplished. The highly-overrated Eli Manning would have been killed as the QB here this year (or last)...JM will go somewhere and he WILL BE successful. Unfortunately for us, we seem to have put our next 2 years into the hands of KW and I have a HUGE concern that relying on him to be available on a consistent basis is a huge mistake...with Navarre taking the role of JM next year, it seems as if things are going to be much more reliant on on "running game"... God help us!

As a registered Josh Hater, I believe it is imperative to keep both Kurt and Josh (if he doesnt break the bank with some other team, which is likely).

That is all.

I also agree that given what's available and at what cost the best possible course of action for the Cardinals is to sign both Warner and McCown.

McCown might get offers elsewhere, but I don't believe they will be bank breaker deals. The Cardinals have the ability to sign both he and Warner.

Warner continues as the first option as starter, until hurt, then McCown, who was adequate the #2 this past year. McCown will continue to get better!

The Cardinal's could do this and in the meantime still take a QB pick somewhere in the draft; though not likely a 1st day pick.

I hope the Cardinals make the attempt to sign McCown, if he goes elsewhere then it will be his decision. Of course McCown wants to start, but if given an equitable offer to remain a Cardinal and continue to mature with Warner I believe that he would stay.

Run Josh, run as far as you can. Josh will go somewhere else and be a very good QB. he did not have much to work with here and Denny has messed with his head for to long. After 9 games and a 4-5 record Josh was pulled for shaun King. He was told he was Dennys guy and was crapped on. Josh never got a fair chance here. When Warner and the cards lost the game it always seems it is somebody elses fault, But when Josh starts and we lose, People tend to put the blame on Josh. This time next year we will all be saying what a mistake it was to pick Warner over Josh. Not because Warner cant play, but he wont stay healthy. We will be lucky if Warner starts 10 to 12 games next year. I hope we can draft a QBOF this year because Warner will go down, and i dont want to waste any snaps on John Navarre.

Well the only way we truly have no shot is if someone is willing to hand him the keys to the car and just say take it out and drive it.

Then we have no chance, no way we are going to spend that kind of $ on a backup, room or not.

The question is, will anyone do that? I have doubts they will but we shall see, a more likely scenario is that he gets sizeable $ to be a possible starter and compete for the job, in which case we could still meet or beat the deal and we should but I think we'll take the chance to pass on him with some cover and that's a mistake.

I just saw that Palmer has a torn ACL and MCL. Two high profile qb's with serious knee injuries this year (Culpepper). I think the league has gotten to the point where you have to have two quality guys (duh) and that neither can have a giganto sized contract. Warner and McCown is looking better and better. Too bad it's not looking likely.

I know that. Just making small talk. I brought up Madden because that is the only place I had heard of him. Seeing as he was Favre's backup, he could be a damn fine QB and still would never have seen the field. Just putting it out there. Not using Madden as any indicator of actual ability. Sorry, should have made myself clearer.

I think most people on the board would like to have both of them back. I just don't think it's in McCown's best interest to stay when he'll be able to compete, and likely win a starting roll somewhere else.

I'll bet the cards make an offer, but for backup-type money.

Now if it was nintendo's techmo bowl, which isn't made anymore, then you could bank on it.

:D

I once took the Cardinals to the Superbowl on Madden, it's insanely hard to do and you have to really want to, to accomplish it.

It was Madden 01 or something, you could only do dump off passes and 3 yards a carry was a miracle but if you played the Rams they'd basically score every drive in about 4 plays maximum.

Obviously I was bored and determined.

In that case, what's Darrell Green doing these days?
We could use some depth at corner and he can probably still outrun half the guys in the league.
Watch for him at this year's probowl!

QB Jon Kitna ; its funny how the cincy fans are like he can keep us around .500 til Carson returns from surgery.

We would love a QB that could get us around .500 sell the house, .500 that is a pinnacle for Cardinal Fans
