Let's see. Sign-and-trade Joe to Atlanta for Diaw and 2 protected 1st-rounders. Trade Marion + picks to Boston for Pierce. Trade Jake, cash, and 2 2nd-rounders to Magic for Batie or Cato using the JJ trade exemption, as they won't play him much now with their rookie there. Sign Kemp to min. Payton for LLE. Our roster looks like:

C: KT/Kemp
PF: Amare/Batie(or Cato)
SF: JimJ/Diaw/Thompson
SG: Pierce/Bell/Graham
PG: Nash/Payton/Barbosa

That's 13 players already. So, add Ron Slay or any other min. bigman, we're ready for the title! :D

Props for the well-though-out post, but that is definitely a fantasy land roster.

And, Kemp??? Seriously???

Doesn't look like we should have any chemistry problems with this lineup! Great thinking! :D

Fantasy, or more properly described as creative thinking? ;)

I just came across another one posted on Realgm trade board.
http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=396760&start=36

It's a phx-celtics-hawks three way to get Marion to Boston, Walker and Banks to Altanta, Ricky Davis and Al Harrington to Phoenix, with some picks mixed up there. If Boston really wants pair Pierce and Marion, I'd do this deal enhanced/combined with my previous JJ to Hawks for Diaw and picks trade. Again, plus a side trade with Magic for say Cato, and deals for Kemp and Payton. We'd have:

C: KT/Cato/Kemp
PF: Amare/Harrington
SF: JimJ/Diaw/Thompson
SG: Davis/Bell/Graham
PG: Nash/Payton/Barbosa

We don't have as potent 2nd go-to guy in Pierce but get 3rd-tier scorers like Harrington and R. Davis, both of whom are better than Marion and as good as JoeJ to create their own shots in a lot of matchup situations. Say, they both would score over Manu, Hamilton, Prince with ease. They both are good rebounders. I can live with this lineup too. Just wanna demonstrate that options are easily out there with the Amare-Nash core in place.

Don't worry, be happy that we have them!

Did you read that article about Kemp? He is a changed man now, man!

He'd like to pick up where he left out in 1996, to win a championship with his pal Payton, though this time around as veteran sidekicks to Amare and Nash.

Thank you.

I've been a die-hard Suns fan since I moved to Scottsdale 4 years ago (before that I lived in Dallas and was a Mav fan).....yup....I'm a homer....I even root for the cursed Cardinals. :)

I don't want Pierce or R. Davis.

Re-sign JJ or barely make Playoffs. Almost every team is getting stronger... someone give me $400 Million and I will not only re-sign JJ but use the LLE next year :)

I agree I don't want Pierce or R. Davis (especially after he left the Univ. of Iowa after his freshman year).

Other than LeBron James, I'm really not sure of a better fit for team - JJ might not be in the same League of some of the talent but last year a few members felt Nash was the right PG for the Suns... and most agreed, maybe JJ will never win MVP, or All-star invite but JJ fits team well. I'm not sure anybody knew that Nash was MVP caliber but he did fit team well and was easily noticeable... I really think Jason Richardson is overrated a little, Jefferson maybe but he too has a big contract.

As much as I like JJack, I want him to stay as 6th man, if he's starter, the bench is weak AGAIN by NBA standards...

Let me guess you play fantasy sports?

That team would self destruct in 30 games

I was asking myself what kind of sign and trade could the Suns do with JJ if this is the direction Sarver wants to go.

As for me, I want to keep JJ but obviously I have no control of the situation.

However, if other teams do not want to give quality to the Suns for JJ in a sign and trade, might the Suns look towards the Knicks to bail them out again (others might say drown the Suns)?

The New York Knicks seem to be a team with money that is not afraid to take on another large contract. Although the Knicks do not have a lot to offer the Suns, I was thinking that the Suns might get an expiring contract in Tim Thomas (previously proposed by a sports writer but I can't remember who), Nate Robinson and a first round draft pick in return.

Although it's not a lot, it's something, and fits the image of the now thrifty Suns. Perhaps the Suns could even include Voshkul as part of the package. I don't even know if this sign and trade scenario would work, but it sounds like the new Suns. And I would love to have Nate Robinson in a Suns uniform.

Nate cannot be traded (along with other draft choices who signed their rookie deals) until mid December.

OK, my attempts to obtain Nate Robinson have been foiled again, unless the Suns sign or match JJ and wait until mid December. :)

Seriously, I do not like doing business with NY, but it may come to this. I would rather get something for JJ than nothing. Maybe Tim Thomas and a couple of first round picks. Yes, I know it stinks.

However, what I would like to read in tomorrow's paper is that JJ has agreed to sign a 6 year contract with the Suns for say 74 million. I know... probably will never happen.

How do trade exceptions work? I seem to recall that trade exception dollars can be used for multiple transactions though not for signing FAs. Unfortunately I seem to also remember that they expire after one year which reduces their value significantly. Hopefully, I'm wrong about that last bit.

It seems one possibility is that we do a sign and trade with Atlanta and take back only a trade exception plus a couple of first round picks, unprotected and a couple of seconds. This hurts the team in the immediate future but it gives us some wiggle room in acquiring talent.

I believe that because of his BYC status any trade involving JJ must have him going directly to a team far under the salary cap, or it will have to a least involve a team far under the cap. I also think it will probably get more difficult to screw over the New York Knicks now that Larry Brown is there. I still don't understand why they wanted Q, but Thomas alone did pretty well getting that draft pick out of Phoenix.

I'm getting the feeling more and more that JJ really does want to go to Atlanta, or at the very least he wouldn't mind going there. I think he will sign the offer sheet there, and the choices will be between matching, getting a little something in a sign and trade from them, or simply allowing him to walk.

Me and Joe Mama were talking earlier today, and we came up with another package that could be possible to get with Joe.

Now of course both of us would rather just match Joe, however if the team is convinced to not pay him - how about this?

JJ

for

Luke Jackson and Drew Gooden.

Now for the Suns I think that this is the best package we could get for him, and I hate Gooden.

It is tricky for Cleveland since they already committed big money to Hughes. The deal would still be possible however even with Joe's BYC status. I got the following numbers for their other signings so far

Z - 5 years / 50 million (starting about 8.5)
Larry - 5 years / 60 million (starting about 10)
Marshall - 4 years / 22 million (starting about 4.5)

That would leave them about 6 million in cap space assuming the magic number is 50 million. They could use that cap space to absorb half of Joe's deal while sending out another 6 million in salaries. If my math is right, the trade is possible.

So now they will have big big money committed to 3 swingmen in JJ, Hughes and eventually Lebron. However, look at that linueup!

JJ
Hughes
Lebron
Marhsall
Z

Any of the 3 guards could play point. They all have great handles. They all play defense (well kind of for Lebron). Joe can spot up from Hughes and Lebron slashing. It would be hard to throw that much money at guards, but I think it makes Cleveland a very good team.
