QB-"Competition to Watch: the battle for #2 between Leinart and St. Pierre."-Not so much.
RB/FB-Agree
TE- Patrick, Becht, Pope
WR- I think Morey is on the bubble. We have added some serious potential playmakers on STs.
OL- I see competition between Vallejo, House Johnson, and Canfiled for two spots.
NT- Agree
DE- After DD, Campbell and I-Web I do not have a read on who makes the cut.
ILB/OLB -pretty much agree
S- I think the competition is between Francisco, Lewis and Ware.
CB- Perhaps we only keep 4 and add open another spot at S,LB,DE or?
ST- Garvin has the potential to earn a spot, if so he will be listed at WR and puts more pressure on Morey.

Lauraw,
I am still withholding final judgement on Karlos. Yes, it seems like the Cardinals were mislead into thinking he would negotiate, paid the 9+ mil franchise tag, and then had him fire his agent and talk about making a splash. I have said before it looks as if Karlos is giving the Cardinals the "business". On the other hand, if he is just posturing to negotiate the best deal, I have a hard time faulting him for that. The bottom line will be decided by whether or not he re-signs and the salary cap hit is lessened. It does have to hurt negotiations with AW and potentially Q to have that much tied up with Dansby. There is still time to resolve the issue.
In the meantime, I do not blame him for the cuts of James (the man needs to be free, he is playing for stats, not money, no regrets from me), LaBoy (cutting him cost us cap money, something else is going on here, injury?) or Hood (too many mil to pay for a CB expected to be 2nd string)
I think the odds are good that your "unladylike" comments will be deserved, but I'm not sure it's certain...yet.

I'm especially excited about the way Mitch, you talk about Rashad Johnson and Trevor Canfield, taking into account your body of work. I believe Johnson will play a lot this year and that Canfield will get on the field as well.

Having Johnson at FS will enable the Cardinals the flexibility to move both Wilson and Rolle up into a hybrid (with Wilson as rover and all-out blitzer), and in passing situations.

I really like Canfield a lot. I think you might be right, especially when the coaches keep saying that when the practices start they could care less where someone was drafted...they are commited to playing the best players.

I'm not a teenager either but I agree Karlos Dansby You Suck! Fu$$ing douchebag!!!! Call it like you see it, I always say. I know its not very lady-like but he's hurting the team!

Should we feel the same way about Kurt Warner who used a visit to San Francisco to leverage the Cardinals into a $15 million dollar signing bonus for a 2 year contract that puts an $11.5 million dollar hickey on our salary cap with no apparent regard for what that would do to the team? Even though he will only play two more years at best and with the odds in favor of him being on the team for only one more?

Shouldn't Warner, knowing his age was a real factor, have settled for far less money in the best interests of the team.

Of course not. Warner did what any player does. He made the moves to get paid the maximum amount for his work. So is Dansby. And as such the attacks on Karlos Dansby, who from everything I have seen is a terrific player and person, on this board are absolutely disgusting.

This is a joke, right?

Warner hasn't been holding up the works. He signed well before the draft and had every intention of re-signing with the Cardinals.

Not only did he sign what is a more than fair contract for being the returning NFC Starting QB in the Pro Bowl and QB of the NFC Champions...he offered to pay two million of his contract to Boldin. Now if that's not thinking of the team, what is?

Dansby could care less about the team at this point. Just when the Cardinals finally had the structure of a long-term deal in place, he fired his agent, so he could go make a "splash" in free agency next year. Defend him all you want, but really, if you are being serious, you don't have much of a leg to stand on.

Mitch can you do one of your in-depth writeups on Rashad Johnson and Cody Brown only? These two draft picks I know next to nothing about except the little you've expounded on them so far.Where they've been, where they'll be that sort of 500+ word write-up on each to let us know what we have in these two. We pretty well know that we could have a Superstar in Beanie if he stays healthy[which i think he will], and I know and its proven that your posts are among the most popular on this sight. Many of us would appreciate it Mitch!!!
I want to know the strengths and weaknesses, but not only the measurables...

No joke. I'm just doing the same thing with Warner's deal that you are with Dansby's.

You have no concrete evidence that Dansby has no intention of playing for the Cards past 2009, turned down a fair long term deal from the Cardinals, and fired his agent doing both so he could make a splash in free agency and that his doing that is holding up negotiations with Wilson and Boldin and caused the Cards to cut Hood and LaBoy.

That's all supposition on your part based on circumstantial evidence. I just as easily used circumstantial evidence to accuse Warner of using the 49ers to leverage more money out of the Cards.

Some are speculating that the framework for a deal was in place and Dansby was frustrated that the deal was't completed last week, but again that's all speculation.

Citing sources, the Republic reported that Dansby was close to agreeing to a deal that would include $22 million in guaranteed money with $12 million to $14 million paid out in 2009.

“Not close, not even close,” Dansby told the Republic when asked about the status of contract talks prior to firing Wood. “That’s why I felt there was a need for a change in order to get me a solid deal done that I’m comfortable with, that my family is comfortable with.”

Duck, you are forgetting that Mitch has a "source" deep in Cardinal HQ, and, unlike me or you, he can do a Vulcan mind meld through his TV, and read Dansby's mind.
