Post Game Thoughts

I had to watch the game under less than ideal circumstances, but I percerviered. We were having some family and friends over yesterday afternoon. God bless TiVo; bless them every one.

Here's a couple of thoughts about the game:

~Now we really ought to be looking at Cutler hard, IMO. We'll drop out of the top-10 for sure, right?

~Dansby and Wilson were playing out of their heads. Wilson really showed he belonged in the pro-bowl, IMO.

~Boldin looks so much stronger than the guys trying to cover/tackle him.

~On Fitz's wide open TD it's almost as if the Eagles looked at Fitz's catch on the flea flicker and said, "welp, we can't cover you, so we'll just go cover someone else instead."

~It's always fun to see the cards win, but in the back of my mind (very far back), I had a little voice saying "jeeze, the Cards can't even lose right. There goes our top-10 pick."

with the win, the Cardinals draft somewhere between 8 and 12, depending on strength of schedule.

On the Fitz td, the post corner route was available many times to either Fitz or Boldin. Give Josh credit for seeing it and changing the play at the line to take advantage. The Cardinals run those slants on blitz plays so often that with Dawkins as the single deep safety, he totally committed to the slant, leaving Fitz wide open to the corner.

You might mention the play of our TE. Best TE play I have seen from a Card in a long time and adds a new dimension to the the team. That rookie can catch in a crowd and hold on the the ball. I think we have the absolute overall receiving corps in the NFL. If one guy gets hurt we have two others ready to go. I am no Josh fan by any means but I think he played his best game since joining the Cards. One big dumb play but other wise on the mark. This is has been his trademark howerver and I do not know what to expect next week. Wilson should be in the Pro Bowl - no doubt in my mind. He is a player.

I agree. I am a big Bergen fan. I bet its not a coinsidence that he is developing quick and out Offensive Cood coached Gonzalas.

Yeah, Bergen has really come along this year. When you consider the guy played at Lehigh, he's done phenomenal actually. A good offseason of hard work and he might be the answer at TE for us next year.

Great catch by Fitz and nice throw by McCown. BUT, I don't know if this was pointed out on TV though, Boldin was WIDE, WIDE open down the opposite sideline. He would have scored easily.

On that same drive, on third down, Ayanbadejo was WIDE, WIDE open in the flat and would've scored easily if Josh would've seen him. But, Josh tried to run.

I thought the whole defense played good.
If we just had a running game there is no defense out there that could stop us with are wide outs. I also thought Clancy had a great defense plan againist the Eagles. It was a great Christmas Eve.

If we lose next week, we'll probably pick right at 10. If we win, we're picking around 12.

As for Cutler, I don't have a problem with the pick but in saying that there is a pretty good possibility that he won't be there when we pick. There are a few teams ahead of us that are probably looking for a QB and if Young and Quinn don't declare, we don't have a shot at him IMO. I still am standing on my prediction that we won't pick a QB in the 1st 2 rounds though

Then trade up. If he's the guy, trade up. Period. No more excuses.

Also, I think Young comes out, and Quinn may just. I think Young comes out because he knows he's at his peak, and will go top 10. Quinn might, if he thinks he'll be the top 1 or 2 QB taken, or possibly in light of rookie contracts being in question after this offseason.

Amen Brother. I have been screaming about this for what seems to be the last 10 weeks. Let your big play guys make big plays!

Amen, Brother Jeff, amen! Add another OG to the mix, let the line gel, get our Fatty in the middle of the DL, keep shoring up our depth (which will help the special teams), and we'll be tough to beat. Unlike other past offseasons, we can go into this one KNOWING we can plug all the holes we need to plug. Sure, we need to get a QBOF and a good FS as well, but what you and I just described above would certainly get 'er done, and done quickly. I like the way you think

Lost among all of Dansby and Wilson's highlight plays was Bulman, spining off of the block of the center, and crushing the PHI RB on a 3rd or 4th and short play.

I agree that we aren't that far off, it's beginning to take shape rather well, in fact all those years of drafting high and retaining the players should produce a whopper of a SB contender pretty darn soon.

We've drafted so high and the key lately is we keep the players.

Sooner or later it's going to kick in all at once and off we go.

I also think that the coaches are learning about the players as we go, Fitz needs the ball just chucked up to him even more. Boldin is Boldin and Pendy is learning how to use Dansby, and Wilson.

Wait til Rolle is out there and Berry, Dockett is healthy a fatty is next to him for lane cloggage and Dansby and Wilson can terrorize from multiple angles.

Like everyone said, a FS a Fatty DL, depth, Oline or specifically LG. and more time in the offseason to scheme, it wouldn't suprise me at all if we turned dominant all of a sudden like.
