Would like to see TE/DT or LB in the first/second in either order considering the depth at those positions (best TE class in recent memory). Then best player available with an emphasis on defense.

Rashad Johnson will not be our starting FS this season; I guess the franchise is not destroyed like Tony Bruno indicated last night on Fox Sports radio

I dont think Cards really NEED a TE. THey have solid run/pass blocking TE's which is fine with more emphasis on the run game next year. Definetley LB 1st around i think everyone can agree. I would like to see Cards take a linemen in the 2-3 round, anything we can do to give Beanie a whole and Lienart some time is huge..

We will NOT draft a TE high in the draft especially if the draft is deep in TE's. We have too many other critical needs... hello, LB anyone? Both inside and pass rushing outside

The Cards have the worst TE situation in the NFL, by far. We don't have one legitimate starter, and I'm not sure that any of the TEs currently on our roster would be able to get a job anywhere else in the NFL. We currently only have Spach on the roster. We'll bring Patrick back, but he's never started 10 games in an NFL season, much less 16.

I don't think that we'll draft one in the first round unless Gronkowski puts on a show at his pro day and vaults up into the first round, but I think we'll take one in the draft and probably bring in a UDFA or two.

I see the draft going BPA heavily weighted to ILB/NT in the first two (maybe three) rounds, and then straight BPA. The Cards should walk away with a TE, 2 or 3 LBs, and at least one NT prospect by the time the draft is over. I wouldn't be surprised to see them improve depth at OT/OG and OC, as well.

Dorin Dickerson in round 3 or 4. TE/FB runs a 4.4 40, and can push the seam in a 2-TE set. A real matchup nightmare.

Nate Byham in round 6 or 7. A total masher in the run game, who can handle a speed rush outside. (He shut down Jason Pierre-Paul this year) Not super athletic , but can catch and would be a real value late if we are serious about going 2-TE sets.

Add Ben Patrick with Dorin Dickerson & Nate Byham, and we are much better off at TE. Even better, because of Dickerson's ability to also play fullback, they could all be in the field at once.

I still think Gronk is the missing piece at TE. He is a beast in blocking situations as well as a nightmare to cover. He is the full package, and I think he just might still be available in round 3, where we have 2 picks.

I like everything about Gronk except his back issues, which for a player who is 6'6", is a pretty big issue.

I personally think that someone who has a use for Dickerson will take him before the Cards will. I like Byham, though. I'd still like to make sure we have more options than we do now. What do you think of Jim Dray, TE, Stanford? 6'5", 246. The Huddle Report loves him, but WalterFootball.com has him as a UDFA.

I'd be happy with Byham, Dray, or Peek. But I'd be nervous about signing on with late-round guys; a lot of people here like Bear Priscoe when San Francisco drafted him, but not only did he not make their team, but no one in the NFL wanted him off waivers, either.

Patrick was tendered, Spach was not.

I think our agenda can shift a little but not our strategy - which should remain stacking our board according to "best available players who can help us" (which factors in a small degree of "need" into the overall rating equation) and then picking off the top guy on our list each time we draft.

Although the need for a dominant safety has been significantly lessened, it doesn't mean we couldn't use another young potential star - or possibly a CB/S tweener like Cook or Berry.

So, yeah, the needs shift a little (and to a small extent how the players on our board will stack up) but the strategy has worked for us before and should remain the same.

Regarding Dickerson - He only weighs 220. He's more of a "big" Novacek-type wide receiver who (with 4.40 speed) could be expected to create mismatches. So yeah - I could see us drafting him as a big wideout.

Needs-wise, we need at least one (more likely 2) pass-rush freaks, a big, rumbling ILB, one or two backup QB's (at least one a veteran), 2 TE's (one all purpose if available/the other a blocker), another athletic and aggressive cover corner and quality depth and young potential at all positions across the O-line.

According to my math, that's a total of 10 - 13 new high-caliber players. We have 5 draft picks in rounds 1 - 4 (6 if we got lucky and were awarded a 3rd round supplemental - which I'll believe when I see), this would leave. Assuming we hit home runs with all 6 picks, we'd still need to land another 4 - 7 players via trades or free agency.

That's a pretty tall order, but I guess that's why they pay Rod G the big bucks.

Here's a thought: See if Chicago will accept our extra 4th round pick, and perhaps something else in 2011 for Olsen.

CC, we traded our 4th in the Rhodes trade. All we have is the Ravens 4th.

By the way my sister just sent away for a box of Coffee Crisp bars through Amazon. 48 bars. Any time we know someone is going to Canada we send $ for Coffee Crisp, Aero bars and McIntosh toffee. Best candy by far.

I said our extra fourth. The one we have left.

We were all raised on Coffee Crisp up here, and have the dental bills to prove it.

IMO we will add at least 1 maybe 2 Lb's from free agency. The draft will lean heavly towards the defensive side of the board best player available at certain positions. Three out of the first four picks will be on the D side. The second 4 will be a QB, WR, OL, and NT.

Again, don't let the size fool you into thinking that Dickerson is a finesse player. Here is his profile:

High school career

Dickerson attended West Allegheny High School in Imperial, Pennsylvania, where he played a variety of positions, including wide receiver, running back, quarterback, defensive back and kick returner. As a senior, he rushed for 1,429 yards on 182 carries (7.9 avg.) and scored 30 touchdowns, while also having 22 receptions for 423 yards (19.2 avg.) with six touchdowns. On defense, he intercepted four passes. Dickerson was named AP Pennsylvania Class AAA Player of the Year following his senior season.
Considered a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, Dickerson was listed as the No. 5 prospect from Pennsylvania in the class of 2006.[2] He chose Pittsburgh over Iowa, Michigan, and Penn State.
[edit]College career

In his initial year at Pittsburgh, Dickerson played in eight games as a true freshman, primarily seeing time at wide receiver and on the kick return unit. As sophomore he was switched over to defense, and played in all 12 games as a reserve strongside linebacker and had 15 total tackles.
His junior year was his first season at tight end, and Dickerson played in 13 games, starting two. He had 13 catches for 174 yards (13.4 avg.) and two touchdowns. In his senior year, Dickerson had 45 receptions for 508 yards (11.3 avg.) and 10 touchdowns. He received All-American honors by the Associated Press, CBS Sports, the Football Writers Association of America, the Sporting News, and the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
