T.J.'s mock (mock me all you want)
1. STL: Ndamunkong Suh, DT, Nebraska. Arguably the best defensive player ever in college. This is one of those guys you just can't pass on even if you need a QB. St. Louis will get a QB in the 2nd round probably
2. DET: Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State. They got the franchise QB last season. They need the franchise blocker to keep him healthy and upright. Okung is very well rounded.
3. TB: Eric Berry, S, Tennessee. Agree with you here Mitch. Tampa is all about defense and this is another can't miss guy
4. WASH: Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame. The Jason Campbell love ends here. Clausen can step in mid season if need be and make this team decent. Possibly relevant in the near future. He is arguably the most pro ready QB in the draft
5. KC: Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma St. KC could not get to the QB at all last season and someone like G. McCoy can blow up the interior.
6. SEA: C.J. Spiller, RB, Clemson OMFG this kid is amazing and will scare the crap out of me in the NFC West! By far the most talented and quickest RB in the draft. Chris Johnson anyone? Nobody respected the Hawk's running game last season. Spiller will open it up for Hasselbeck, Burlesson and Whoseyourmomma
7. CLE: Joe Haden, CB, Florida. This team needs help in virtually every position. I can't name one of their corners. They will be drafting a lot of defense this season. Haden is best defensive player available.
8. OAK: Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State. It's so unpredictable what old man Al will do. Not surprised if he picks a WR to compensate for his blunder of Heyward-Bay. He is determined to make something out of nothing (or nothing out of something) out of JaMarcus Russell.
9. BUF: Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma. Losman = fail. Edwards = fail. If Bradford comes back 100% from shoulder surgery, this is the QBoF for Buffalo.
10. DEN: Rolando McClain, LB, Alabama Excellent run stopper. Will partner up with Elvis Dumerville to add fear into a LB corp that already looks good. I can possibly see this pick getting traded with a team who wants another impact player.
11. JAX: Earl Thomas, S, Texas. A bit of a reach here, but with pass happy teams like IND and HOU, they need better pass coverage
12. MIA: Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, South Florida Many have this guy rising to the top. If Porter leaves, he can slide to OLB. Or, spell an aging Jason Taylor
13. SF: Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers SF had troubles protecting whatever QB they had behind center. Best tackle available here.
14. SEA: Everson Griffen, DE, USC. Pete Carrol gets one of his
15. NYG: Brian Price, DT, UCLA NYG has to be disgusted with their defense last season. They could go secondary here, but they pride themself on getting to the QB with a four-man front. This guy rocked the interior in the PAC 10 knocking out RBs and QBs.
16. SF: Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech Another team that prides themself on defense. They did a great job last season but the fat get fatter. He should be a top-10 but because of other needs from the other teams, he drops. I don't expect a guy like Morgan to slip by a Singletary led team.
17. TEN: Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee You could tell they missed Haynesworth last season. They get an opportunity to pick up one up here. Big man who will get double teamed and allow ends and LBs to get to the QB. Pass rush in this division is crucial.
18. PIT: Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma PIT is not happy with their offensive line. They are just fine on defense if they re-sign Hampton and get production from last years pick Ziggy Hood.
19. ATL: Sergio Kindle, OLB, Texas. Pains me to say that ATL will take him here. He is the prototypical 3-4 OLB. Be perfect for the Cards but is not going to slide that far.
20. HOU: Taylor Mays, S, USC This defense is close to being top 10. They need so solidify their secondary. Mays, IMO, will be the best safety in the draft but won't be considered until here.
21. CIN: Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma Palmer and Co. get another offensive weapon. They already have one stud receiver and one stud RB, why not a TE to boot?
22. NE: Sean Weatherspoon, LB, Missouri Defense, especially linebackers, was inefficient last season.
23. GB: Charles Brown, OT, USC Rodgers got sacked way too much for GB's liking. Brown can block on the right or left, possibly challenging Clifton for a spot.
24. PHI: Jared Odrick, DE, Penn St. Versatille lineman who can hit all of the gaps. He can reek havoc for NFC East QBs and help in the 4-6 defense by freeing up linebackers
25. BAL: Arrelious Benn, WR, Illinois, Derrick Mason is getting long in the tooth and it has been proven that Flacco performs better with two good receivers than one. I think Mason retires or gets cut.
26. ARZ: Terrence Cody, NT, Alabama Robinson is out of position, Watson's knee does not seem right and Branch is going to be a permanent DE. This leaves a gaping hole in the position. I know we all want OLB here; however, Cody can help guys like Dockett and Campbell get to the QB. I love NTs that can blow up the A gaps and believe all 3-4 defenses need a dominant one. See Kris Jenkins for the NYJ
27. DAL: Morgan Burnett, S, Georgia Tech Huge reach here, but Dallas needs safety help in the worst way. "Jerruh", who is known for trading down for more picks, might just do that this time
28. SD: Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Georgia Tech. LT is gone and Sproles is too small to be an every down back
29. NYJ: Brandon Graham, DE/OLB, Michigan - "Sexy" Rexy can't help put load up his already vaunted defense. Graham being versatille can make an immediate impact for the team.
30. MIN: Colt McCoy, QB, Texas Favre leaves (finally) and if he doesn't, McCoy can still be groomed for the following season.
31. IND: LaMarr Houston, DT, Texas Indy has little weaknesses, but can be run against easily at times. Houston provides the ability to break through the line and lead runningbacks towards Freeny and Mathis.
32. NO. Chad Jones, S, LSU Sharper will probably retire after a Superbowl victory. Louisiana product that the team and fans will appreciate. Balanced tackler and pass coverer.
