I am not advocating any trades right now, but there are few teams that seem like they might be good futre trade partners because of what they need and what we have.

Philadelphia:
Need: Pg (MCW is a combo guard), and SF. Might be interested in the Morris brothers (from Philadelphia), any of the the 3 pg's, TJ, PJ etc. Also they would love picks.
Have: Suns would be interested in Embiid or Noel.

Lakers:
Need: Multiple young assets, picks, building blocks for the future.
Have: Randle. About the only piece the Suns would be interested in.

Milwaukee:
Need: Pg, desperately. SG (unless you think Mayo is a full-time starting two). Might be interested in Gerald Green, any of the 4 pg's, Archie. Picks of course.
Have: Jabari Parker and Greek Freak both small forwards, Henson. Maybe they could slike Parker over to PF, but that would not be ideal. I could see them trading one of these two to balance their roster.

I'm sorry JC, but this list doesn't seem realistic at all. All those teams are completely rebuilding and one of them might send off their BEST piece to rebuild with (high, well regarded Lotto picks) for Gerald Green, future mid round draft picks or the Morris Brothers? We would get laughed off the phone trying to get Embid, Noel, Randle or Jabari for anything we have to offer outside Dragic/Bledsoe.

Yeah, not unless one of them hire Kevin Towers as their new GM.

These aren't trade proposals.

They are lists of the players on these teams we might be interested in, and what they might be interested in. That's all. Its a list to keep an eye on. Most of these are young players whose trade value will likely rise or fall. And besides all that "one of the three (our four) pg's" as in Goran, Eric, or IT is pretty high value--not sure why you conveniently left that part off of the list you quoted.

Jeez.

I love how this works. One person misquotes/misunderstands your post, and then everyone else just makes snarky remarks based on that.

I think the Suns should keep an eye on potential playoff teams that falter or for some reason just can't take the next step. I don't have any particular team in mind but there are usually some teams who fall short of expectations.

IT is NOT pretty high value when it comes to any of the players you mentioned. see below for my response to the Bledsoes/Dragics being moved of the world.

I didn't misunderstand your post at all. You listed a bunch of guys who in no way shape or form are going to get dealt for anything we have.

edit... actually, I did. I didn't see you say "any of the 4 PGs". My bad.

That said, I'd still be stunned if ANY of those guys would be moved for either of our starting PGs (and they DEFINITELY wouldn't be moved for Thomas or Ennis), because the guys you listed ARE the building blocks of those respective teams. Trading for one of our PGs makes zero sense if you're a complete rebuild and you're giving up THE biggest piece of the rebuild.

It is rather uptight isn't it? The only relief we seem to get is when Mulli sticks his not-so-funny arse in here occasionally trolling everyone else's teams :)

It's also somewhat nitpicky.
I mention a "pure" PF on a different thread and it degenerates into posters deconstructing Stoudemire's game like he never scored in the paint, got a rebound or blocked a shot....Silly indeed.

At least there will be real basketball soon to talk about.

I'm not sure how Milwaukee will be able to play both Parker and the freak. Both are sf's. I think there is a chance they could move one of those for a pf or pg at some point. I suppose they could find a way to start both too.

Philly needs quality bodies and the Lakers need multiple assets. They are at the stage where the Suns were when we traded away Larry nance for multiple assets to rebuild. Randle is really all they have to trade.

Anyway. just players to keep an eye on.

I think its LAUGHABLE to think that we can get cheap quality/potential from a rebuilding team.

Those are all TERRIBLE teams, who are looking to stockpile the assets you have us looking at trading for.

Our market will be teams that didnt live up to their high expectations or teams that are in the initial stages of becomes the next Philly/Milwaukee/Lakers.

Atlanta. If they fail to compete for the playoffs it will be rebuild time. Horford has 2x years left and Milsapp will become a FA after this season. If Atlanta goes into rebuild mode then both of those two will be on the market. If the Lakers look to be mid lotto bound, then that pick will be one of those sought after assets. BONUS. Atlanta can swap picks with Brooklyn in 2015 so they would have 3 top ten picks in 2015. Depending on the progress of Warren/Marcus and Goodwin/Zoran i can see Green/Tucker becoming available....and a team like OKC could use the depth at both of those positions.

Suns trade:
Green/Tucker/Ennis/Lakers 1st (5-8)
Suns get:
Horford
Thunder trade:
Perkins/Lamb/2016 First
Thunder get:
Green/Tucker
Hawks trade:
Horford
Hawks get:
Perkins/Lamb/Ennis/2016 First/Lakers 1st (5-8)

value might not be there, i know. But these are the types of trades i think the suns will be looking at down the road if their youth movement pans out early.

I think Horford would be a realistic target if the Hawks go into rebuild mode. Millsap is an expiring deal and I don't believe the Hawks even have his bird rights since he signed a 2 year deal with them so he wouldn't have much trade value at all, he'd be a bad rental really. I don't think we'd need to involve a third team either, according to the trade machine on ESPN we could swap Len and Ennis straight up for Horford. Of course we'd have to include something like the Laker's pick plus another 1st rounder but we have some cap space available so we wouldn't need to send out as much as Horford makes, 12 this season and I believe 13 next. That would be an added bonus for the Hawks since they wouldn't need to take back any significant contracts. Len would be a project but could replace Horford at center getting plenty of minutes to sink or swim. Possibly include Toronto if they'd give up a first round pick for Ennis to go to ATL in his place. Who knows if the Hawks would take that but I'd think they'd at least listen to a deal where they would get at least 2 first round picks (1 in the lottery), plus a young C prospect, a good PG prospect (or another pick) and cap space to start their rebuild.

What part of "I am not proposing a trade" did you not understand?

All I said was that these are players of interest and we should watch their development and see if they might become available at some point.

There are some tense people in here, and it's been especially bad as of late.

For what it's worth, I like the idea of this thread- should be an interesting discussion throughout the year.

I was beginning to wonder if this thread was a bad idea. I really am not interested in a convo that degenerates into trade proposals and criticisms but maybe that's just where all message board discussions go.

Young quality players do become available. Kevin Love has been traded twice. Other players moved as well. I am thinking of players like Tyson Chandler, DWill, Joe Johnson (from the Celtics), CP3, Pau, Marc Gasol, Garnett, Harden, etc. Certainly Horford would be a candidate.

We are looking for teams that: need to rebuild and have to trade a top talent for multiple building blocks, have multiple quality young players at one position (think KJ playing behind Price or Bled behind cp3), have lots if young talent but not the right mix, or have financial problems and have to move a star level player for lesser salaries (Harden).

Yes, but the problem remains that the Suns won't be able to put together a winning offer package. Other teams in similar situations have better picks or more appealing young talent. Beyond Dragic and Bledsoe, there isn't a single player on the Suns' roster that the rest of the league covets.

Really? IT, the Morris bros, TJ, pj, rights to Bogdan, the Laker pick?

Yes, really. (Maybe you are joking?)

If other teams wanted Thomas, there would have more of a bidding war for him. Instead, the Suns picked him up on the cheap, and he and his agent agreed even though he would be the third PG on the depth chart.

No one is going to give up anything of value for Marcus Morris or Tucker, give me a break. Markieff might have trade value if he continues to improve.

The Laker pick is protected, can't remember the details, but the Suns will not get it if it is very high. (Edit: top-5 protected in 2015, top-3 in 2016 and 2017, unprotected if it survives to 2018. So, most likely, a low lottery pick this coming summer.)

The "rights to Bogdan" recalls the "rights to Vujanic" running joke that lasted on this board for years.

The Suns might be able to sell high on Warren if he shows major flashes and they time it right.

You're on fire, Eric!

By the way, the protection is top 5 on the Laker pick.

IT got a a 6 million dollar deal in FA and his old team didn't bother to even offer a contract. That doesn't scream to me "coveted". The Morris bros don't strike me as "coveted" at all either. Markieff looks like he could be a nice piece for a team, but after one good season, jury's still out on him. Marcus looks like a guy to me. TJ? Has never played a game in the NBA. Hardly makes him "coveted". PJ? You're kidding right? RIGHTS TO BOGDAN?!

Maybe the Lakers pick is coveted, but with as bad they're going to be, even that one has qualifiers as it will likely be protected since they'll be in the top 5.

Bledsoe and Dragic ARE coveted players, but that's about it for this squad as far as major pieces for a big trade are concerned at this point.

The Suns can't trade Thomas for a while. It would be very bad PR to trade a guy that came here as a free agent for low money.

NONE of those guys fit the criteria of the guys you listed above though. Why? Because you listed all the best looking rookies out there who are a) still HIGHLY coveted and b) are locked in on contracts for four years and c) are ALL on complete rebuilds.

You mention the KJ trade, but KJ was playing on a team that was a piece away that could afford to make the move because they had Price. The Bucks, Sixers, Lakers aren't anywhere near that. Not to mention, Nance was THE player in that trade, an all-star, we were trading to get the young talent... not a bunch of bench/or unproven guys. And with Bledsoe, AGAIN, you had him as a backup on a VERY GOOD team looking to make a move for financial reasons and to make themselves better. The Bucks, Sixers and Lakers aren't in any way shape or form in the position that the Clips were when they made that deal.

as to Tyson Chandler, DWill, Joe Johnson (from the Celtics), CP3, Pau, Marc Gasol, Garnett, Harden, the ONLY one of that group that is in any way shape or form at the same stage of development as Embid, Parker or Randle was JJ (and Maybe Marc Gasol... although, if you think about it, he was nothing like those guys either as he was a 2nd round pick, not one of the most hyped players in the draft). The other guys were established stars who were traded because they were sick of their teams or were staring monster contracts in the face and their team wasn't going to pay them or lose them for nothing. Again, Embid, Parker and Randle are not anywhere close to the vicinity of that scenario, thus bringing them up as players to watch who we might be able to get just seems incredibly unrealistic to me.
