Seriously...

The No Fly Zone wasn't going to stay intact as we all knew. With Rashad And Powers gone the rest will stay. Going thru last season after the Bethel extension I figured Jefferson was gone but no.

Between Powers, Rashad and Jefferson I'd rather keep Jefferson if we could only keep one. From here on in I'd say Swearinger is the next odd man out.

This feels like a mistake. Powers was the only Vet CB in this world who could come in and contribute immediately.

Because now even if we do bring in a depth veteran CB, he wont know the system like Powers did.

In a SB push year that was a dumb move. This is one of those occasions where Keim should've paid.

I believe the same to an extent... going to trust Keim and Arians on this one because I have no other option, I wish Powers success because I respect his play and the man :)

I wouldn't call Harlan Miller a project corner. His technique seems very well polished & has good ball skills. It wouldn't shocked me if not only he jumped ahead of Brandon Williams on the depth chart, but Justin Bethel as well.

Relying on a small school, 6th round pick corner to play opposite PP21 would mean that he's guaranteed 15-20 targets against per game and is pure insanity. I don't care about technique; when small school corners face a level of talent they've never seen, oftentimes, they shy away from technique to compensate for getting beat off the line.

While I don't doubt he could jump Williams on the depth chart, neither are ready to be the #2 corner at the moment, and it would be highly unlikely that either can play more than dime packages or special teams in 2016.

Swearinger will be the odd man in. He will have a much bigger role this year then he did last, if he doesn't get beat out be the newbies.

Or be great from the start like Ronald Darby for Buffalo was last year. Who knows?

Richard Sherman
Josh Norman

Not saying Miller is in those guys league but it has been done before (late round CB's making an impact).

Bring in Leon Hall. He's better than Powers ever dreamed of being.

You might be right but they will face the highest level of that talent in the NFL everyday in practice so if they have the physical gifts you can bet Fitz, Peterson and Co. are the types to try to help develop them. I still see a vet coming in later in the summer.

hoping we bring in Leon Hall. Our CB depth last year was super tenuous and we got away with it because we were pretty much injury free. This year, we're going into the year with one less veteran starter and a HB coming back off his second ACL. That's a little worrisome to me.

You guys have like selective memory. Powers is terrible. How will we ever find another corner who can get beat Atleast 5 times a game?

If you don't believe me ask yourself why he was on the market so long and even the. Could only get a 1 year deal from the Ravens.

Thanks for your efforts Powers, I didn't hate him, but this is not a loss for our defense. Rumors of the "no fly zone" we're highly overrated.

Powers was solid and we had no pass rush... in my opinion he made up a strong secondary and was a versatile vet which helped us with teams developing various schemes because Peterson covered the number one :)

Powers is an above average nickel CB---he played very well there for us. He wanted starter's money and he had durability issues.

Steve Keim said before the draft that he would "draw a line in the sand" after making offers to his own FAs and if they didn't accept the team's offer, he would withdraw the offer---that it wouldn't stick.

When Powers elected to hit the FA market---I heard MJ say on several occasions that Powers was seeking a deal at $6-7M a year---Keim moved on and put an emphasis on the position in the draft.

I don't agree he was terrible, but he was well below average in 2015 and it was time to move on from him.

Powers and Rashad Johnson were the two players in the secondary that we heard the coaches praise for their mastery of the defense. The proverbial "coach on the field" title was given to them. Now, both are gone.

Who in the secondary is going to replace their mental abilities? Peterson? Honey Badger?

Both of them will.

Peterson & Tyrann are just now hitting their prime while Rashad & Jerraud just left theirs.
