I've got one right at the entrance to my neighborhood. They have a "get-it-yourself" special, where I can pick up 2 large pizzas for $7.00. I've actually had it on my table (ok lap in front of the TV) fifteen minutes after I've called it in.

Go Cards!!!

Church, Grandmom's house, ATM, bar ... in that order.

Direct TV will eliminate the last two this year!

Jersey Girl - If you have too much time on your hands waiting for the 4pm (or even the 1pm) kickoff, a few suggested options for filling the time (and, therefore, your belly):

1. Drive over to Grabbeys in Westville, pick up a bushel of crabs, bring 'em home and steam 'em.

2. Truck on up to Trenton (pron: Trent'in) and pick up a couple of tomato pies from De Lorenzos (South Broad St. only/the Hamilton Ave. De Lorenzo's isn't as good)

3. Motor even further north into Princeton and pick up a bucket of wings from Chuck's Grill on Spring St. off Witherspoon (but call first - places like that have a habit of disappearing on you). Note- Original owners were the parents of the nefarious Menendez brothers.

Pre-Game

Sunday Morning: 9am-12pm
I DO EVERY SINGLE LAST D@MN THING I NEED TO DO FOR THE WEEK!

12:01pm - 12:15pm:

Tie up lose ends.

It begins.
1. Told to all friends and family months ahead of time that calling me on Sunday after 12pm during football season is punnishable by DEATH!!!!

2. Tell my girlfriend that anything she needs me to do, or any kind of communication that is needed from me IS USELESS! She knows the deal and if she hasn't opened her mouth to say something before 12pm then it is her own D@MN fault and she has to wait till Monday to get whatever it is she needs from.

3. Turn off Cell Phone.

4. Turn off all computer messenger devices.

5. Lock front door and put Do Not Disturb sign up.

12:15pm - 12:45pm: Gather supplies.

1. Shower

2. Get in comfortable Cardinals clothes

3. Get all food preparation, beer preparation, and misc. stimulant preparation together.

4. Adjust TV, Volume, Last Channel, Air conditioning.

12:45 - Kickoff:

1. Start stimulant intake. Nibble on food.

2. Catch the cat. Lie down on couch with cat lying on stomach.

3. Watch Football from 1-7 with maybe a nap in there somewhere.

AND IF ANYONE ANNOYS ME I BECOME THE WORLD'S NUMBER 1 @SSHOLE. I spend $0 money on myself (except for NFL TICKET), I work my @ss off, and cater to everyone's needs all week, and all offseason. ALL I ASK is for 6 hours on Sundays to watch football. And I feel I should be allowed to do so.

Peace

This Sunday, my attempt at getting back in shape will be put to the test as I dodge bullets in Detroit while walking to the stadium in all red (although from what I hear Ford Field is in a nice suburb of Detroit).

Next Sunday, who knows? ASFN pregame tailgate?

Football rituals

1. Wake up hung over, to the phone ringing off the hook. Answer and hear "WAKE UP YOU FAT LAZY *****." Hang up phone. Find Cards shirt, Cards hat, short and flip flops. Look in fridge and pray I left one beer from the night before. If so drink it.

2a(away game). Tell the wife to drive me to whatever bar we are watching the game. Get drunk and eat food.

2b(home game.) Tell the wife to drive me to my brother's house. Determine who is driving to the game. "I can't, my wife just dropped me off here." Start drinking heavily.

Change in Freakin' Plans

Well...The sun finally came out in the northeast for the first time since before Memorial Day.

Which means - "Doctor/Missus" would like to go to the beach (80 degrees. Dry. Surf will be 8 - 12 feet. Gnarly!).

Since the game will be aired at 1pm EDT, this means (a) recording the game on TIVO, (b) making sure no one leaks info about the score and (c) watching the game in "virtual time" when we get back 4 or 5 hours later.

While the beach is great, it just ain't the same as bagels-papers-Internet-Pregame-Game.

And it means posting the analysis a half-day to a day late.

Note - I'm sure neither the Cardinals nor the League have made this their burning priority, but it seems as though we easterners always get the 1 pm (ET) Cardinal games in Sept./Oct. (when the Fall weather is most condusive to getting outdoors in the east) and the 4 pm (ET) games in November/Dec. (when it's frosty out and people tend to eat early dinners - From the standpoint of one: I'd rather see a bunch of 4 pm (ET) games early in the season and 1 pm games later in the season instead of vice versa.

I start warning my wife around thursday as to the time the Cards are on DirecTv so that she can make plans. If she were to stay she'd only want to talk to me or ask me why I'm so upset, etc. If Ed B is around and we're going to watch the game together everyone in the family knows not to interupt or even call on the phone unless it's a dire emergency. If Ed B is out of town then I make sure the portable phone is charged up because I watch the game and do the play by play for him over the phone if I can track him down. Otherwise it's numerous text messages by cell phone. We always cook-out at half-time and then as the case may be worry how they're going to blow the game, or alternatively convince ourselves they'll make a comeback!

I start getting ready on sat. Away games usually watch the morning college football games (unless one of my idiot roomates has the remote like today so I'm stuck watching silverado which is a very good movie but comeon its football season) head out to the supermarket to get the grub and beer usually a few T-bones or Ribeyes are on the menu get home from supermarket fire up the grill to make sure I still remember how to cook something toss on some burgers pop open a few beers and enjoy the start of fall on my back patio.

Sunday usually wake up a little rough(the couple of beers I poped open on sat. turned into a dozen) I find my way to the shower then make a quick trip to the local circle K get the paper and buy some cigarette's. Fire up the coals so they will be ready for halftime get the mushrooms and onions cut up ready to be sauteed, pop open a beer turn on the computer check ASFN see if any breaking news occured while I listen to fox pregame. Gametime everything stops while I sit in front of the TV.

Home games very simular to away games on sat. unless I'm making the trek down to the game in that case me a few friends pile into a car leave sat. morning check into a motel or call up some friends if we are trying to save some money, find a local bar to watch the afternoon college games. Head towards the game early making 4-5 stops at different bars usually ending up at Bandersnatch for a few Oil cans from there off to the game.

If I don't go down for the game I usually head to the local bar around halftime of the first game order a beer and find out which bigscreen the Cards game will be shown on, once its established which bigscreen the Cards get I throw a few bucks on each of the pool tables so nobodys gets the bright idea that a game of pool is a good thing during the game, order another beer and maybe a light snack, repeat the ordering beer thing many times during the game get home fire up the grill eat something while watching the evening game. God I love football season.

Game rituals-

At home or away the night before I always wear my lucky red pajamas and say a prayer. If it's away I wear my Cards jersey and listen to the pre- game shows on kdus. Then turn on the TV. and say another prayer. At half time always have bagels, lox and creamcheese, tomatoes and onions, + beer.

I start my Sunday by going to Church, usually 8am mass. We never have time for breakfast, because it takes everything we have to get 3 small children out the door. When we get back, I fire up the griddle & make pancakes galore, all the while I'm watching ESPN pregame. The baby is napping by noon & my wife takes the other two out for a walk. I have already purchased VCR tapes to last the whole season. I have Direct TV on two sets. On one set, I tape the Cardinal game & on the other set I flip around & watch bits & pieces of every game. At 4pm, I start watching the late games, sneak dinner in & then proceed to watch the Sunday night game. If the Sunday night game stinks, then I'll watch the Cardinal game that I taped. Otherwise I don't get to the Cardinal game until early Monday morning, while I'm working in my home office. Thank God my wife understands my addiction & doesn't complain too much. Then there's Monday Night Football!!!! Then I'm usually depressed until Sunday again rolls around. GO CARDINALS!!!!! Tomorrow's prediction:

Cards 17
Lions 6

Very funny thread. Everyone sounds like my family on Saturdays for the OU (Oklahoma University) games. As for Sundays, well, this will be our first year going to more than one Cardinals game. Being a Seahawks fan first and Cardinals second, AZ is a alot closer to San Diego than Seattle. However, our tradition will consist of being ready to tailgate right when they open the gates. Have all the flags flying from the truck and magnets on the side. BBQ's flaming with thick steaks, Cardinals potatoes, and plenty of beer. Enjoying the fans and game. Ends with the 5 1/2 drive back home. Cant wait for next weekend.
