I expect I'll be disappointed by this movie but I can't help myself, I'm really looking forward to seeing this one. I prefer watching movies on my home theater but I'm awfully tempted to break a family rule and check this out at the local multiplex.

I was hoping for at least an 80 plus since it has a fairly narrow target audience. Now, my best hope is that a bunch of people looking for the Woody Allen 90's film retrospective wound up in the wrong theater.

Thoroughly enjoyed this! Really really fun flick! Action was good, story was good and pretty good comedy mostly by Topher Grace and the actor from Justified.

Great to hear. I'd imagine you're talking about Walter Goggins when you reference Justified. He may be a Crowder now but he'll always be Shane (detective from The Shield) to me.

I plan to see this on Monday. My wife refuses to go so I will just have to see it while she is at work.

Meh - saw it last night and want my 2 hours back. Parts were okay, but definitely should have waited for the video.

I'll probably wait for the DVD but I am interested in it. The first one was great, I hated the sequel with Danny Glover. The first AVP was ok, nothing great I didn't like the whole under the ice premise. The AVP requiem was horrible IMHO, can't believe they got permission to make that movie.

But I really like the premise of this one. It's like the old Star Trek episode where they pit famous good guys vs famous bad guys on some planet and you have Abe Lincoln and Attila the Hun!

What made the original so good for me wasn't really Arnold, it was the whole idea of these elite soldiers being hunted. And that's why the new one appeals to me it's somewhat similar but different enough to be new.

I enjoyed it a lot!!! Very reminisent of the first movie with some additional add-ons. I didn't like the Adrian Brodey joice but he pulled it off relatively well.

Totally agree with you and Portland about the original feel to it. Forgot to mention Laurence Fishburne. Loved his character!

Saw this yesterday night with a friend. Lot of action scenes and didn't think it was good.

I have to echo the statements of several other posters.

The original Predator is one of my all time favorite movies. All of the follow-ons have greatly disappointed. This one brings back the feel of the orginal. Really it follows the orignal format so closely you could almost predict what was coming next.

While it doesn't match the greatness of the original, it has to rank as the second best Predator related movie. It's worth seeing but I probably won't be running out to buy the DVD.

i was actually surprised by how much I liked the first 2/3s of the movie but thought the last act was awful.

Agreed, maybe half of the movie for me actually. The moment they tried to make Brody into a bad ass action star the last 1/3 of the movie with his best impression of Christian Bales Batman voice, along with the ******** twist I stopped being interested. In fact I think things turned for the worse once the Fishbourne character was introduced.

Totally agree. The last 1/3 of the movie got stupid.

although I did get a kick out of the Convict shanking the Predator.

That was a good scene

The sword battle could have been a lot more action packed as well. I thought they really missed an opportunity on that one. The couple of charging run by's just didn't work.

not only did it not work for me, but it COMPLETELY pussified the Predators to me. I mean, that Predator got killed pretty damn easy there, compared to the original Predator who killed everything in it's path except for Arnold who had to battle for thirty minutes before he finally killed him.

For someone that likes Transformers 2, you have no room to talk...

:p

Ha ha.....good point. This movie was better then Transformers 2. Better yet there were no robots with genitalia parts clanging together either.

At no point in time did I think Brodey's character was a bad ass. He was smart and took advantage of the things he learned about Predators.

The sword fight was a traditional one and I enjoyed it. Every attack the Yakuza dude made was different then the previous. The fact that he killed the Predator only validates why predators find us worthy of hunting.

And last, I don't think you can spin the predator story in to many different ways. They hunt you, you either run and die, or fight and possibly live which isn't likely. This story was in the same vein as the first yet still enjoyable for those of us who love the predator story.

All that goes out the window when he tries to talk like a bad ass by impersonating Christian Bale, carries a big gun, and giant knife, doesn't give a crap about anyone until the last 20 minutes, and does the shirt off muscle scene. All signs of a writer trying to make a bad ass and an actor trying to "act" like a bad ass.

This story was in the same vein as the first yet still enjoyable for those of us who love the predator story.

That is just it it wasn't the same predator story. The first one was a survival story(just like the first half of this sequel) then it turned into a save the girl and ******** twist story the last half.
