Ok, put up your list. Players you believe will be better than advertised and players who will be worse.

Here's mine

Stinkers

Bayless. If he is this good, why was UofA so bad.
Gallinari. Euros seem always to be overrated when drafted this early.
Brook Lopez. Classic, offensive-oriented, college, main-guy, who will not have that role in the pros.
Jordan. "years away" usually means "not likely to pan out"

Sleepers
Bill Walker. Has star potential, its about the injuries.
Robin Lopez. Dirt worker and defender. That translates to a role he will play in the pros. He will likely adapt better than his brother does, and expectations will not be the same.
Hibbert. He does have skills. After watching him play, his slowness seems exaggerated. He will be a better Big Jake.

Joe Alexander is my sleeper pick.

:mulli:

Way to go out on a limb, picking a guy that has climbed up every board the past two weeks and is likely to be picked in the top 8.

You sure you dont want to add Rose to your list too. ;)

My vote for biggest bust goes to Kevin Love.

Sleeper goes to Brandon Rush who will be ranked at #4 when they reanalyze the draft 3 years from now.

How about I think Alexander will have a better career than Rose.

Is that sleeperific enough for you?

Sleeper
Ryan Anderson from Cal-

At 6'10" maybe the best shooter in the draft. Shoots from NBA range eaily. He also is very tough and averaged 9.9 boards in a tough PAC-10.

I hope the suns grab him if he falls into the second round (which seems likely from the mocks I have seen).

sleeper: with the way he's dropping, i'll pick anthony randolph. i can see him having a similar impact (not game, but impact) as j o'neal sometime down the road with seasoning. jason thompson - seems like a karl malone-ish story, big kid, limited athleticism with good work ethic and great numbers from a small school. mind you, i'm not saying he'll have a karl malone-ish career, but something along the lines of david west is not outta the question.

overrated: joe alexander - just don't see where he'll fit. brook lopez - the more i think of him, the more i think of how pedestrian athletes usually fail.

You cant really predict, except for a few rookies who are given "keys" to run the team.

Most of the rookies this coming season outside of Mayo, Beasley and Rose... are going to be role players. The 3 I mentioned are all going to bad teams that basically resemble their system based on them. The rest of the players are plug and play players as opposed to "franchise" players.

remember when some here compared Josh Howard to Tucker?

Josh Howard was given the starting role after his first 2 seasons and was fortunate enough to have a coach like Avery who used him a lot on offensive end.

My point is, Tucker... he could of been a "real" good player, if D'Antoni gave him the opportunities... allowed him to play on court make mistakes and learn... but he didnt.. and he is almost out of the league..

A rookie will only contribute based on the amount of opportunities he is given. No matter how good he is.

Look at Brandon Wright... last season he didnt get any significant playing time nor Don Nelson used him, and he didnt develop much but on a bad team given opportunities to make mistakes and improve, he would of been an okay player at best... in his rookie season.

Brandon Rush for example, projected to be a Eddie Jones as his "best" turn out. Thats a HUGE mantle, Jones was a semi-star if not borderline all-star, could shoot, atheltic enough, played magnificent D and very coachable.

I still think Tucker can be a decent role player if he finds a role in the suns team or ship him to a team where he can get 20 minutes a night.

You know, I pretty much stopped posting when you and I first left the AOL board because our opinions were so close I figured who needed the redundancy but these two opinions really surprise me.

First off, UA wasn't "so bad" at least not when healthy and, IMO, the real problem in Tuscon is that they had a squad full of talented offensive weapons and a coach that considered offense a four letter word. I loved Bayless at the college level and still believe he will succeed in the NBA but I do worry about his size as a 2 and lack of court vision as a 1.

As for Robin Lopez, I wouldn't take him in the 8th round let alone the first. No heart, no work ethic and despite the Stanford name I'd worry about his court sense. I know many of the experts are pushing this guy but other than a couple of late season performances I can't figure out why.

Nic Batum could go either way, but we won't know for about 5 years.

Goran Dragic has my curiosity.

Oh, one more: Joey Dorsey will get drafted in the 2nd round, make someone's 12-man roster, and become an instant fan favorite. His future nickname? Engelbert Hyperdunk.

6-9, 270, and he runs the floor like Chris Bosh.

Dorsey dominated the boards in the final four, but he will pan out to be a lesser Ben Wallace imo. But yeah he will have a fan following for sure
