Diallo really disappointed me. I expected much better, but he looked almost unplayable on the offensive end - lots of turnovers, and really seemed lost.
Agreed. He never looked comfortable on either end of the floor. The rebounds were gifts. Odd timing on block attempts, awkward defensive positioning and footwork, and totally useless on O. And I'm one who really liked getting him.
Yes, Frank Kaminsky can score, but once again he was terrible on D tonight. He better be guarding guys like Cheick every night or he's a massive liability. Dude can score, but if he's off he's a massive negative. Suns have a lot of these kinda guys: Frank, Jerome, Ellie, Dario... (although there were moments tonight where it looked like Ellie has made some strides). Some of these guys were in the line up when Minnesota made their initial come back. You've got to be very careful with players like this because they can absolutely kill your team when they have an off shooting night.
Carter looked solid. He's always gonna be a nuisance on D, which is why I like him more than the other back up one dimensional offensive Gs we have. When he's hitting, you have to leave him in.
Johnson is a whole lot more than a 3pt shooter. There were moments on both ends of the floor where he peaked my interest. Can't wait to see more of his game.
Jerome has that Paul Pierce edge to him. You just can't believe he scores like he does wearing lead shoes. He looked good on O, and made some good decisions to help his team mates. Awful footwork on D. He should NEVER be on the court with Devin. NEVER.
Anyone notice how bored we are talking about DA's double double (18 and 13) in 21 minutes? The guy is a monster out there. He looks light years better than this time last year.
I love love love the Rubio signing. The team looks so much more in sync with him around. I also loved seeing him on the sidelines completely engaged with Dev, DA, and Oubre. He's acclimated well. Seems like we finally have an adult on the floor who can lead by example.
Love what I saw from the HC. Obviously it's early, but he seemed to have a good handle on the game. One suggestion though, please don't put Carter, Johnson, and Jerome on the court at the same time. Man that was awful.
