I just heard Vince Morota say more assistants will be allowed to interview for the coaching job.

“That’s my message to the fans,

although we’ve had instability in the past, I’m only focused forward. I’m not concerned with previous regimes or previous teams. The players on this team, this is their team, their future and that’s where my focus is.”

So no input from Booker, Jones stressed it was ONLY his decision to let go of Igor. But said that he wasn't going to get into the actual reasons. I think the speculation here is probably correct -- players had problems with him.

Seems to me Igor had a major strength and being a head coach took him away from that strength -- one-on-one developmental work. And the guys we did get to actually do that work sucked at it, so that's why we're where we are.

I'm in the "Cautiously Optimistic about Jones" Camp.

He sounds competent and when he gives his reasons for a move he made, I feel confident in what he is saying.

I like the front office team that has been put together, but from listening to the NBA insiders, Sarver is the real problem and we have to hope that Bowers and Jones can finally get Sarver to stop meddling.

That's exactly what Sarver would order him to say.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I am joking.

He did? "So the decision with Igor was mine and mine alone," seems pretty definite. Whether you believe him or not is another story, but he did answer the question.
The question was "when asked how much input Robert Sarver had on his decision to fire Igor Kokoskov". He said the decision was his and his alone. That is not answering the question at all. That is asking the hearer to infer that Sarver had no input. He could have been directly told to fire Igor, and the decision to do it was still his decision. I don't personally care either way - we've been dealing with political double-speak for ages now...

From looking at all available info, Igor's biggest undoing was his poor communication with players. I know any time I listened to his radio interviews, I struggled to understand what he was saying.

I like the two main candidates so far, and I think the Suns are on the right track. Young coach with experience and respect around the league.

I read it differently. James Jones made the decision. I think it's pretty definitive.

The only thing I would say, after being around someone with a foreign accent or manner of speaking, it doesn't take long to adjust.

Kokoskov didn't seem to have communication problems when he was an assistant coach.
