Venting.

So the Cardinals and the NFL are upset with the City of Glendale. The team is upset that the city is allowing hotels to gouge their guests.

Fast forward to purchasing a parking pass for the Pro Bowl. Orange and Green Lots (though Orange is already sold out): $60. Purple is $40. But it doesn't stop there. You can't get it by regular mail or by printing at home. They need a shipping charge of at least $17 to get the pass to you.

I attended the Super Bowl in Tampa. My parking pass was $50 plus a $5 shipping charge, and I thought that was gouging. But this isn't even the Super Bowl. It's the Pro Bowl which isn't even as prestigious as a regular season NFL game.

I think I may walk to the game.

I was also going to post a thread on this. Its now going to cost me an additional $77 just to park. What a major rip off. I have no choice, wish that I never had ordered tickets for a meaningless dumb event.

I can't see the pro bowl being any busier than a normal Cardinal game. I say this with the caveat that I have never been to a pro bowl. We normally just park at the hotel we are staying or park at the Westgate complex and walk. Now, I realize the Superbowl will be a whole different animal but I just don't see how the pro bowl will be such a draw to command these rates. Maybe someone has more insight into the surrounding area usage.

When we went to the Super Bowl we just parked in an office parking lot not far from the Target shopping center about a mile and a half away for $15, IIRC.

We'll just look for something similar for the Pro Bowl. I am not paying their prices.

I understand supply and demand. But to throw a fit over Glendale not making private hotels lower their rates only to soak us that much for a parking pass seems hypocritical.

That was the point. Like BIM said, just park somewhere close by and walk. You don't have to pay for the parking pass. You can probably park somewhere closer for $20 and not have to deal with the traffic out of the stadium parking lot as well.

Did someone contact you about parking?

I bought two tickets to the Pro Bowl ages ago and haven't been approached at all.

Exact opposite of my encounter with wanting a couple of extra tickets to the game. Yes, they sent an email to season ticket holders who had purchased pro bowl tickets with a link for early access to parking passes. Check your PM folder.

Thanks.

Also got an email about playoff tickets.

Need to check that old account more often. LOL

I was really pissed about spending $70-100 on parking, so I contacted the company. They said they will be opening some cheaper options after the 15th of the month. Right now you only are able to buy exclusive parking and that is the reason it is so expensive. Still not sure how to get around the $30 minimum shipping charge, she didn't mention any options to pick up in AZ.

What a cash grab.

Brown lot - reasonably priced at $10 for parking - plus $19-35 for "shipping."

No option to just pick up your pass somewhere locally either.

The company that handles it is out of state, hence the rip-off shipping. It didn't look like there was a limit on the number of passes one could purchase so I'm guessing a lot of people bought as many as they could afford to scalp.

I forgot about them and waited a few days after the email came. Everything was sold out except a yellow lot back behind Westgate. They should have let you buy the parking pass when you purchased the tickets and the limit it to say 1 pass per 4 tix or so.

Actually, they are in Peoria, AZ - according to the email response I just got.

This has been handled poorly from the start. People paid through their nose for parking because these options were not available from the start.

Now they are going to allow "Will Call" if you can pick up the pass at their Peoria location or you can just go in person, pay, and walk out with your pass.

Email reply:

Yes, there will be a Will Call option shortly, but you will have to pick up your order from our on site office in Peoria, starting on Monday. Additionally, you can also come purchase on site from our office, and leave with your permit at that time, also available on Monday.

Woohoo !! $10 for parking. :D

I am just going to park at westgate and pregame at Saddle Ranch. No point in tailgating the pro bowl at that price point. It's $20 cash to park at Westgate. I can handle that.

Funny you mention this. On Monday I looked at tickets (even though as a Season ticket holder I had a chance to buy em and said no). I thought...well maybe it might be fun. I saw the prices and said 'hell no' and even more...it's not that fun of a game to watch. Now knowing the parking issue I'm REAL glad I didn't get them.

When I went to purchase tickets it says you must choose a delivery option - either 2-day FedEx delivery for $19 or overnight FedEx delivery for $35 - with no option to print off a pdf. They just added a Will Call option for $0.00, but you must drive to Peoria to pick up your pass.

We had an email from the 3rd party company they contracted the parking too.

I had a problem with my initial email and contacted them to complain When they resolved it most of the parking was sold out. Ended up in Blue for $57 after shipping.

Crazy.

Figured it out. It seems like they set up the other lots (like COG) with that epermit option so you can print your pass from home, but the Brown Lot does not have that option. I didn't go lot by lot to see if others were overlooked as well.

Shot them an email. Would love to just print the pass at home and not make an extra trip to Peoria. :D

You know they have this new fancy gadget you can buy and put in your home to watch the game. It's called television. Actually pretty neat. And you can watch any game from anywhere in the world for free if you hook your TV up to your PC with a simple HDMI cable. It is sort of like being instantly transported to any stadium in the world.

I sort of like being able to watch all the games in the comfort of my lounge chair eating and drinking anything I want for practically nothing. Shoot, I even get to park for free right next to the door into my house. My friends and relatives can also come over and watch the games for free. Quite an invention this thing called television, TV for short.

There is one catch however, you have to buy a TV for anywhere from $200 to $2000 depending how big of one you want. But after that, its all free. Let me know if you would like to know more about it. I can send you some pics.
