This would only seem a fit if the Cards traded down, but they had a guy at the UCF Pro Day. My UCF guy said they paid their most attention to Mike Hughes, CB. He heard they liked Hughes fluidity when coming out of his back pedal. I know he’s visited the Pack, so he is getting round 1 attention but not at 15 surely.

He is a little short at 5'10" but is really good and a shut down CB. Most have him pegged going late first round but who knows.

Interesting, I figured Wilks would go for tall CBs.

that has been his M.O. tall, physical...

I think in looking at Hughes they are considering second round options... if they were to grab a corner in the first it is way more likely to be Jackson from Iowa.

but most of the top corners in this draft are smaller...Ward is universally #1 and he is also 5'10"...
a due diligence thing is my guess.... just in case a guy slides

Did Wilkes state that he likes big Cb's or are we just presuming by who he coached?

The CB's he coached (Norman, Worley & Bradberry all over 6'0) and what the NFL preference is in outside CB's. Plus there are a lot of CB's in this draft over 6'0.

Except this kid can play! I’ve liked this kid a lot.

He & BW are on different planets as far as NFL talent.

Actually, I do not mind his height. What you give up in height, one usually makes up for with more fluid hip movement to stick with the WR... and why most corner backs where always short but the rules took away their ability to be tenacious and beat the height advantage

Luv me some McFadden out of Florida State

McFadden had a solid career but his last year was a drop off from previous seasons. He had to the the anchor in 2017 and just wasn’t up to it. He’d be okay as a second corner, but I don’t see him at 15.

I love Mike Hughes but also Shaquem Griffin.

I think the Cards end up staying at #15 overall and waiting to see if a QB falls to them. If there isn't a QB that they like, I think they move back in the draft a few spots and snag an extra day 2 pick. I could see they taking Hughes if this happens.

Hughes would give the Cardinals a viable option across from PP. Plus Hughes is an electric returner. Would give the Cardinals two options at return with TJ Logan coming back from his injury.

With the extra day two pick the Cardinals could then use one of their 3rd rounders to take a flyer on Griffin. I think this kid is something special. He was the heart and soul of the UCF team last year.

Oh McFadden is who you get later if you go another position at #15. I see him slated for 3rd round on a lot of mocks because of his 40 time but I wouldn’t be shocked to see him go late second round.

I like the idea, but who is going to want to trade up with us and what are they trading up for? I was going to say that nobody worth trading up for but the I thought maybe Vita Vea or McGlinchey? I could see it if one of those two are on the board.

If so then draft one of them instead of trading back.

That's a whole different conversation, and I agree with you. The premise was trading back to get Hughes, so I questioned who would someone behind be wanting to trade up for? Then I thought well if all those QBs are gone then good players must drop, so that were two players that I thought other teams may covet, and be will to move up for.

I think we are on the same page, I would love for the Cards to draft Vea or McGlinchey because I want us to improve the trench units. We need more help on the Oline than the Dline but getting a stud on either unit would be great.
