Customizable waiver time period
Ability to import old Sports.ws rosters for keeper leagues or for convenience
CSV upload to allow for easy import of a set of rosters or a draft order

18 end of the year awards plus 3 customizable awards
Ability to create custom polls and archive results
VIP support from Sports.ws
Access to any new features added to the site throughout the year
Much more!

Looks like we have to go without customized scoring this year.

Points: +1
Rebounds: +1
Assists: +1
Steals: +1
Blocks: +1
Turnovers: -1
Technical Fouls: -1

That's is their scoring system.

It looks like you can't start polls anymore to undo trades or change players positions without paying..

Also it's not possible to have more than 12 teams in a league this year without paying...

I was planning to do a keeper league anyway. I don't see how you can't import old rosters anyway.
I will just save the rosters at the end of next season, have a fantasy draft thread on the message board for the rookies and just draft the old rosters again.

elindholm will run the "standard" league at hoops.ws again this year and post information about that soon.

Not interessted in waiting 12 hours between every other pick unless we start the draft very early. Actually I wouldn't mind doing the draft sooner than later because the offseason is so slow right now.

I saw the commissioner's fee, of course. I'm willing to pay it, because someone has to host the party. Being the commissioner is sort of fun, and if no one does it, there's no league. We can't go with the standard scoring and all the other limitations, so someone will have to fork over that $40. I'm not happy about it, but I'll do it without complaining to anyone else.

But I agree that the price is too high. If anyone can find another league that uses a similar scoring system, we should definitely look into it. The problem is that I researched this last year, and every other league I could find was either stupid rotissire (sp?) stuff, at least as expensive, or both.

I don't really have any interest in a roto league. I think that approach is artificial and really not very interesting on a game-by-game basis.

Anyone know if the CBS (?) league that Chaplin ran 2 years ago is still free or even available?

Yeah I agree. The yahoo leagues we had in the last years are boring as hell. There is pretty much nothing go on at all.

Draft your team (well make a list and pray you end up with something good) set your rosters and that's it.

Some years ago I participated in an interesting league with totally different approach.

You had 50M$ budget to "buy" 4 guards, 4 forwards and 2 centers. ( teams within the same league can have duplicate rosters).
Every night you got fantasy points for every player that played and at the end of the week you had a limited amount of possible roster changes to sell players and buy new ones.
The catch was that the whole thing worked like a stock market and players could gain and lose value.

I think it was cnnsi the first year but there was another league a later year with the same format.

I've wondered about how these leagues work. Could someone give an outline of the usual process and what makes one approach more interesting than another?

I don't think that one person should have to foot the entire bill. If we get enough people, the cost would be fairly minimal if split evenly.

That's true. If we get everything up and running, I'll make my address available to anyone whose conscience requires them to send me a check for $2.50, which is 1/16th of $40.

But I certainly won't insist on it. I'm hardly rolling in dough, but $40 over the course of an entire NBA season isn't going to destroy my retirement plans.

Look what I found on bbb.net from a Warriors fan.

Are the leagues you're referring to the ones that were held by the Arizona fan message boards? If so, that seemed like a pretty well run league -- in the league I'm commissioning this season, I actually have links to elindholm's info because he did a better job of explaining the format than the site does itselft (as of this posting).

elindholm is a hoops.ws celebrity. :p

Regarding paying, I would but transferring from europe to america etc that's all so complicated for 2$ I am probably going to pay just as much transfer fee.

Heh, I wonder who that person is. Maybe someone from last year's league who has "defected."

Slinslin, don't worry about the $2.50. Really. I'm serious. Someday we'll meet and you can buy me a bottled water. It's worth $2.50 to me to have you play. $3.00 would be pushing it, though... :p

I've sent you an e-mail. Let me know if you didn't get it.
