You make a great point here. Why bother spending a gazillion dollars to watch a movie that will look just as good on my incredible home theater system? The more expensive it becomes to go to movies, because theaters are chasing the money, the more theaters lose money. A different kind of self-fulfilling prophecy. The need for more money makes the industry less money. Huh.

Streaming is really hurting the box office. There's so many options, for so much cheaper.

That said, the quality levels of those flicks are pretty hit or miss. But I guess that all just a function of taste. Apparently Sandler's movies on netflix are just SMASHES, yet would barely make a blip at the box office these days.

I know @Chaplin can tell you really old movies were redone, and sequaled well before some of our times. He would probably know off the top of his head. Just going back to the fifties, Wolfman, Frankenstein, and Dracula all had sequals. If you count Nosfaratu as the first "Dracula" movie, it goes way back. Wasn't Nosfaratu a silent?

not just that, but so many movies people probably don't even realize are remakes back in the day that are considered classics, like Father Of The Bride, A Star Is Born has been remade like eleventy billion times, Three Men and A Baby, The Thing, Heaven Can Wait, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Little Shop Of Horrors, The Fly, etc. etc.

For the record, my brother went to see Yesterday and said it was a fantastic movie and it's doing OK in the box office.

that's just it... a fantastic movie, that's merely doing OK and that's with it over performing from box office expectations.

No they can only fit like 12 - 16 recliners in each row and then they do this thing with barriers so you can't see any of the rows above you or below you, just the screen...regardless of where you sit.

It's basically next to the DBacks spring training home and on the opposite side of the 101 from Casino Arizona

Three Men and A Baby

:yeahthat:

I still remember seeing Three Men and a Cradle (Trois hommes et un couffin) at the underground theater at Los Arcos Mall when it came out. Used to go see a ton of foreign films there.

Then a couple years later everyone was all about this new "original film" coming out called Three Men and A Baby. Ended up being the top grossing film of the year.
