Considering all the attention the Suns put into getting another PG, I'm not sure that Chris Duhon would bad pick. The Suns looked at him in May (unless may memory really IS shot) and may have concluded that he would be adequate on the "why take Harris if Duhon is almost as good and 1/3 the price?"

The big advantage of drafting in the second round is that it is appropriate to take "role" players and not have to go for a future star.

I agree with Slin though. If he falls to the second round, Orlando would grab him (unless someone really random falls)

Khryapa is far away from being an NBA player.

Tony Allen can play defense and give some nice passes after penetrations but so much about his play. He is super inconsistent.

I have no problem with Chris Duhon at #31. He may become a fine backup PG.

I really like West, he is a pretty talented combo G.

Varejao would be a steal at #31.

I'm not really inclined to take a "project", but one that might be worth considering is David Harrison. At 7'0" 270 he has the talent to be a lottery pick, yet is considered a total head case and is listed by many boards in the mid 20's.

I suspect he is too much of a gamble, but you have to wonder.

There are a few "bigs" that will be available too. They are all projects, so why not spend less on a project. In fact, you could say that Pavel is as much of a risk pick as any of these. If you pick up one of these in the second, and he pans out, you look like a genius.

Ha. (7-3, 300 plus) He's huge, he's agile, he can shoot, he's got better endurance than Pavel. The knock on him is that no one has seen him play much. They say he has no playing experience. But he has been involved in international play, has played against Yao, and comes from a basketball family like Yao. Plus, he's got one of those interesting oriental names. Yao vs. Ha. Just makes you smile doesn't it.

Chen. (7-2, 255) Longer than any other player measured at the combine with a 9-5 standing reach. The Suns have had him in. Hmmm. Dya think they might have considered the fact they would be drafting in this range?

David Harrison. (7-0, 270) Big body. Decent #s at the major college level. Decent shot blocker, gets up and down the court. Projected to go in the latter first, could slip to the second.

PJ Ramos. (7-3, 260) His stock is dropping fast. Originally projected to go much higher but could drop. Has put up good #s against good International competition. Not as long as other players his height.

Thanks for the list, JC.

IMO, #31 is a good place to be in this draft and I'd definitely go big... unless there is another Marquis Daniels lurking around, overlooked by everyone else.

Funny thing is that most people said the pac10 sucked this year but will be the only conference to have 3 first round picks it looks like.

One of the things about the PAC 10 is that they seem to call the games tighter than they do back east. This means they aren't being prepared for March Madness.

Also can we rule out that we trade into the first round again if Nelson, Josh Smith or Harris are falling maybe?

we have nothing to trade though....we can't give up a future first until we settle with san antonio.

We can trade the Bulls pick, #31m, future second rounders, cash, Jacobsen, Voshkul....

I would definately dangle Jacobsen if JR Smith or someone else who looks promising is on the board between 18-25 or so. ;)

I think the suns looked at Duhon last year?
I think he went to the chicago camp and then went back to school?

On this pick the suns will absolutely take the bpa.

However, it would seem to me that if there is a tie in the different positions they are looking at, they would go big.

If Vujanic is coming over it will have a lot to do with this pick. If he is coming, why draft a point guard if you can get a big or a swing man on this pick.

I will be watching for someone to drop like Lampe did last year.

That's it. I'm just flat out gunning for Ariza now.
