Nothing against Wile, but he had his shot and has been around last year and this offseason, if he doesn't impress (emphasis on IMPRESS), I am more apt to grab the experienced vet if I think we have a two year window with Palmer than I am taking Wile's inconsistency risk.

In big games, you want a tough-minded experienced veteran who knows exactly what to do in each situation and has done it before.
Considering other teams cut, even talking about kickers, they get younger and we do the opposite
But from a statiscal standpoint
wile is getting better, Lee regressing

Show us where Lee is regressing. Stats on NFL.com don't support a decline.

He went from net average of 44 in 2011 to 40 in 2016
Even if this stat involve the rest of the special team

Lee's 49.1 yards per punt average was 4th best in the NFL. His cover team was not good.

Juza, if you want a punter who can do it all, it's Andy Lee.

+1

It ain't as easy as it looks. Andy Lee is a hell of a punter, we all watched it for years, and yes, he may have a few yards shaved off his distance, but I think people miss that it is consistency, and hang time that are factors.

Rams game, last year, at home. The punt was bad because it was a line-drive. Distance wasn't the problem it was hang time.

Wile has improved, no doubt, but in the preseason he had some line drive punts and bad times.

I would compare the Cardinals kicking game to their offensive line a few years ago. You are looking for consistent, solid, NFL quality production at this point, because what the Cardinals have had the last few years has been way under par.

An upgrade is an upgrade, and not every upgrade is going to be an All-Pro every time, and just because the upgrade is NOT an all-pro doesn't mean you keep the status quo.

The fact that this isn't already a done deal just proving what we already know - for some totally inexplicable reason, the Cards just don't value the punter position. Completely mind-boggling, especially after we saw the result of utterly incompetent punting the last couple of years.

I agree about our view on punting but dude pump the breaks on the Cardinals not acting... Lee has just been cut and like any player he is going to weigh his options you would think :)

Why not just waive both punters now and sign him? Don't understand why they would need to wait for Logan to go to IR

Who knows if it's done?

If there are no punters on the initial 53, you can bet that an agreement has been reached.

Simple. You drop 2 punters and replace them with Logan and one other. In a day or so, you send Logan to IR and replace him with Lee.

This way you don't expose the unnamed player to waivers.

That could be risky too in case Lee doesn't sign here. But on the other hand teams probably aren't beating down the door to sign our punters
