Not sure if someone has already put a thread up on this, but I will anyhow.

In Sports Illustrated's Sept. 3 issue, Peter King names his 500 best NFL players. This is one of the most disgusting, pathetic, wastes of paper I have ever seen. Here is where he had the Cards:

#27 Adrian Wilson
I was OK with this one until I saw that Reggie Bush was #19, he is a spot ahead of Polamalu
#58 Fitz
Come monday night, King will feel dumb when Fitz eats up Nate Clements who was 11 spots higher
#99 Matt Leinart
58 spots behind Vince Young? 8 spots behind Cutler? 2 spots ahead of Kyle Vanden Bosch? Put down the pipe Peter.
#135 Quan
Does this guy even watch football. How do you take a guy who has the greatest start to a career in the history of WRs and rank him 41 places behind Hines Ward? Wait it gets better, he is 9 spots behind Wes Welker.

---------i dont have it in me to comment on anymore of this crap--------

#216 Karlos Dansby
#225 Edgerrin James
#262 Kurt Warner
#285 Duece
#335 Darnell Dockett
#362 Levi Brown
#379 Antrel Rolle
#414 Bert Berry
#432 Rackers
#486 Chike Okeafor

According to this.....At #135 there is.... On average, 4 people per team that are better than Quan.

That is a freaking Joke.

Peter King thought it was Quinten Harris. Honest mistake.

Me too. My heart skipped a beat there.

As for Peter King, he's a fool. I would bet a month's pay that you couldn't find one HC or GM in the NFL who would take Wes Welker over Q. It's ludicrous.

Don't forget that he has Calvin Johnson in the 60's and he hasn't even played a down yet.

It originally said " Q has been severely disrespected" I guess all of that didn't fit on everyone's screen. My bad.

Yep. The other day I saw "In my Own Words" with Tom Brady. King asked him had he ever thought what it would've been like had he been drafted by Arizona at #203 instead of #199? He said he "would probably be out of football by now."

he didn't really have Welker rated over Q, did he?

Man, Q really does suffer from being on the Cardinals. Dude's just been a warrior from day one, on mostly horrific teams and doesn't bitch, cry, disrupt the team - he just plays. Now, even thought I don't think Q is a top 5 WR, he's DEFINITELY top 10.

I really don't get what Fitz has done to garner the praise he's gotten. He's had one year of over 1400 yards out of three and yet people are ready to crown his ass - just goes to show you what being a high draft pick does for people's reputation.

No kidding. Look at those rankings and you see where he places Q on the list and it is a complete joke.

Not to mention I disagree. I think Q is a top 5 WR. He certainly has proven more in this league than Fitz.

Steve Smith
Marvin Harrison
Reggie Wayne
Chad Johnson
Torry Holt

That's my top five - Q's definitely in the mix anywher from 6-10 though in my book, which is pretty damn impressive. And I know there's the argument that he doesn't play with Manning or Palmer or Bulger, but he's got his possible stud QB now - so we'll see if he can ever really put up those eye-gouging numbers in yards and TDs. Until he does, I still think he's just behind the big boys above.

I see what you are saying. Just depends on what you are looking for. I would agree with Harrison of two years ago. But I truly believe that he is going to slow down tremendously. Hes no spring chicken.

Anyway you slice it he gets screwed on that list!

Boldin makes his own plays after the catch with muscle, where other top recievers make their plays with speed.

CF:

You may not be considering that Peter King included "importance of the position" as one of the criteria for his top 500, and gave extra weight to QBs, OLTs, CBs and pass rushers, as well as "explosive players." So Adrian Wilson's ranking at #27 doesn't look so bad when the only safety rated higher was FS Ed Reed at #12 (leaving AW as the top SS). Similarly, the only wideouts ahead of Larry Fitzgerald were Steve Smith, Torry Holt, Andre Johnson, Marvin Harrison and Chad Johnson. Pretty elite company.

For all of Matt Leinart's apparent potential, all he has on his NFL resume are a handful of good individual games and less than one season as a starter, on a team that finished 5-11. Despite that, King included him among the 12 quarterbacks that made his top 100 players, with the comment "Too good at USC to not become a solid pro." Hard to complain about that.

I'd probably rate Anquan Boldin higher than #135 too. But he's only seven WRs behind Fitzgerald, and good arguments can be made for most of those guys (e.g., Reggie Wayne, Donald Driver, Roy Williams). Wes Welker was rated in part as a returner, leading the Dolphins last season in both punt returns and kickoff returns for the third consecutive season. King named Welker as one of four "impact return men"--the others were Devin Hester, Maurice Jones-Drew, and Pacman Jones--in the top 126.

I think that any list like this can be endlessly picked apart, and King probably overrated some players and underrated others. But accusing him of having some sort of anti-Cardinals bias is ridiculous.

The stats are real even:

Career averages per season:

Fitz: yds. 1,045 YPC 13.6 TDs: 8

Boldin: yds. 1,151 YPC 13.5 TDs: 5

Boldin has the edge in yards, but his edge came in his rookie year when he didn't have Fitz across from him. Fitz has the edge in TDs. So, I'd call it a draw I guess.

I don't think Boldin is disrespected by many. The fact that he made the Pro Bowl last year, in a another nightmare season, showed he is very respected.

I didn't accuse him of any bias angainst us. I said he was smoking crack when he wrote that piece of garbage.

He didn't just rank Williams and Driver ahead of him, they were WAY ahead of him. Kingput those two right together, making it look as though Driver was just barely better than Williams. Boldin was 45 spots behind them!!!!!!! Whats more is that that Hines Ward is 40 spots ahead of him. No Way.

The bottom line is that he ranked who he thought were the 500 best players, plain and simple. The criteria he used in selecting them is irrelevant. There is no way on earth that anyone can tell me Wes Welker is better than Quan without getting laughed at.

If I may, since King used obviously no knowledge in his selections, then I don't have to explain anything either than simply- Peter King is a Complete Idiot.

Boldin should be rated a lot higher he is better then most of the wr's in the league and makes amazing moves when he catches the ball to get extra yards. That is a major diss to boldin imo
