I believe camp ended last night, which means Boldin has free reign when not in practice. Expect a mess. maybe not sit-ups in the driveway, but i think this could get ugly.

Or....same stuff different day.

Hasn't this gotten a bit old already.

"I'm not happy, I want a trade" Boldin for the next 4 months.

.....yeah, we heard it the first time

Ugh! I guess we found our "We shoulda drafted Adrian Peterson topic for 2008".

My take on the situation:

From the Cards Perspective:

Why doesn't the United States negotiate with terrorists? Because if the government gives in once, others are sure to follow. Why can't the Cards give into Q's trade demands? Same reason. Surely guys like Dockett, who is also trapped in a contract he doesn't like (and maybe Dansby) are standing by as curious onlookers. If the Cards show they can be bullied, more players will demand trades asap. This isn't just about Q, this is about all Cardinal player negotiations going into the future.

From Q's Perspective:

He broke the Cardinal Rule: Never negotiate from a position of weakness. The Cardinals have his All-Pro Skills, at a discount, for the next 3 years. What could he possibly bring to the table in order for them to want to open negotiations?

Since Q has nothing to offer, he has to make it in the Cardinals' best interest to trade/negotiate by any means necessary. Unfortunately, that means making the Cardinals not want him anymore. It's the only card he has to play.

The Outcome:

Q knows that he can't do anything to influence the Cards. If they won't trade him, he could still be stuck in this contract for some time. Eventually, when the trade demands wear out, he will have to re-evaluate his position. Since he knows being a cancer won't work, he'll have to try something else. The only other choices I can see are these:

1. Continue to be a cancer and intentionally lower your performance to hurt the team.

2. Become a team player and try to negotiate in good faith.

Option 1 would see him become the world's highest-paid tackling dummy for the tenure of his time here. Option 2 might just be crazy enough to work...

Q has just called a press conference scheduled today at 5 oclock eastern time at team headquarters. Drew Rosenhaus is going to be there too. NFL NETWORK is carrying it.

Just playing guys lol

At least if he is on speakerphone, it is unlikely he will break his hand trying to answer it... I'm just sayin' ;)

.....and he's not standing in front of his sliding glass door rough housing with some friends at night

Im just sayin!

best thing

...if there is one, is that the fans are not crying in their beer. i personally believe the team knows there will not be a drastic fall off with doucet and we all know that boldin did not have a gun to his head when he signed his last deal. i'm not sayin' wide outs are a dime a dozen, but they are more plentiful from a quality standpoint than a number of the other positions

The Cards still have avenues to take such as fines and arbitration process if Boldin willingly and purposly doesnt practice or take part in team activities during the season.

I highly doubt it goes anywhere, Q is a charector guy

I'm gald you didn't spell this correctly because that's exactly what he is proving not to be. I can't believe you guys think highly of someone who is so full of crap. I guess since he is not personally attacking you over a business issue, then it's ok.

Cards lied to him. (No one is going to just make a blanket blank check gaurantee)
He doesn't communicate with the coach. (Throws his coach under the bus for no reason, and the coach has no idea what he is talking about)
Never asked to be traded. (It was reported that he and his agent asked for a trade in the spring)
Said he wasn't going to bring this up again after he initially voiced his displeasure at the start of camp. (Need I say more)

The point is, he is talking himself in a circle, all these half truths and outright lies are catching up with him. Every time he opens his mouth he is looking worse in my opinion.

Curently, he is stating that he will not walk out of camp because he has too many people counting on him. I will not hold my breath that he goes back on his word with that item as well. This team gave him $10M right after he had knee surgery and mised almost an entire season. They were willing to extend him again even after missing four games with injury to his hip and toe. I have a feeling there is more to this than we know. I think Q is playing in pain and knows he will not hold up for 3+ years to get a mega contract. He played the game, took the money and now he is crying foul.

Sounds to me like you are just spewing hate and not any real facts. He fully admits he asked to be taded two days ago. He never said that he wouldnt ask to be traded. All he said was that he was going to play football and he will not renegotiate with The Cards on a new deal.

If what he said about Whiz iz true then he has every right to say what he said and be pissed at Whiz. You dont know the truth nor do any of us. So you really should just get over it and take it for what it is.

Worrying is like a rocking chair......it gives you something to do but it really doesn't get you anywhere.

Q is not going to throw away hundreds of thousands of dollars by walking out. If he was in the last year of his contract i could see him sitting out until game 7or 8, but that's not the case.
It would behove Q to kiss and make up with the Cards brass because he is going to want to talk contract or trade again after this season. To act like a total jerk from now until then would destroy any good faith the FO might have left.

He can't walk out for more than 5 days after camp because he could be suspended for the year. It's called the "John Riggins Rule" I heard about this 2days ago. Also, he would still owe the Cards 3 years of service. He isn't going to disappear before this season is over.

Shane,

Yes he admitted to wanting a trade but said that he has never asked for a trade prior to that. Then reports came out that he and Drew asked to be traded in the spring and several teams offered 1st round draft picks but the Cards refused.

The deal with the coach, LOL, please, he said he doesn't communicate with the coach. Anyone in camp and reporters included can verify that he does indeed communicate with the coach. So yes it's probably a poor choice of wording on Q's part when he said it, even though he repeated it when asked about it by reporters.

So it's ok for him to twist the words of the front office to make them out to be "liars", but he should be held to the same standards?

We can agree to disagree. You think he is in the right, I think he is in the wrong. I believe this kind of crap is destroying the best sport in the world so be it right or wrong it needs to be changed.

I would love to see huge fines put on players or teams who attack each other in the media, it's bad for the image of the NFL. I don't care if they have differences, I pay over 5k a year to watch this game and even more if you add in the food/team shop items, the last thing I want to hear is that my hard earned money is going to pay salaries of malcontents who are making millions of dollars. I am really regreting keeping my season tickets this year.

Actually I dont think he is either right or wrong. I believe both parties are to blame equally. I just dont share the same venom for him you do just because he is frustrated that the team didnt keep their word. Thats all.

I'm close to agreeing with you Shane. I'm not sure either party is to "blame" and I won't bash either side. It is what it is. If Boldin plays to the best of his ability, in accordance with his contract and the 10 million he was paid up front, then I won't have a real beef with him. Likewise, I do not know the details of the Cardinals alledged "lie". If he was offered top ten WR money before the Fitz deal, and his agent did not respond to the offer, it's hard for me to say the Cards lied, even though Boldin might feel that way. I'm willing to let it be, let's play ball.
