I think its damn near an impossibility. Due to the money payed him already just for his roster bonus. They just arent going to cut him. He will just be the highest payed back up in the league.

I still say there is a possibility KK gets cut. Be it his cap hit or play for insurance keeping the guy, the Cardinals have a different logic :)

I am still under the opinion that Kolb has outperffromed Skelton, my cheesebeef with Kolb is that he doesn't ever get to perform much. He's like that cologne on Anchorman, he works hard 100% of the time, but he only "works" 60% of the time. He's always missing time while the team has to continue on, numerous injuries and blows to the head, hasn't even really been here a whole year yet, it might take him 3 seasons to play a full 16 games for us. These health issues we have on offense are the biggest thing holding us back. If I knew Kolb wasn't going to be injured, I'd give him the start over Big John today. But the way it's gone that aint likey to happen so I'm still shopping for skeleton costumes.

Kolb will play the 1st half of the Raiders game & his career with the Cardinals hinges on how well he does. I would say that he needs to produce a minimum of 10 pts to stay in the running. He'll need 2 drives that produce points, with one having to be a td. Anything short of that & I also believe that he will be cut & we'll bring in McCoy or Jackson as a backup to Skelton. The Cardinals will not & should not pay him that kind of money to be a 2nd stringer.

They already did pay him though. He got that $7 million bonus and although his salary counts against the cap for $1 mil this year, the Cardinals just shelled out $7 million to him in March. Mine as well keep him on for the 2012 campaign. I wouldn't be surprised to see him cut though we have all seen this organization pull off dumber moves, especially the last 2+ seasons.

Skelton starter. Kolb restructures contract to stay with the team which is best for him and the Cardinals. If Cards cut him it will be to emberrassing infront of the media and his cap hit isnt much as it is.

Skelton 23 TDs 18 ints in 14 games. If he gets hurt coaches will be precautionary with him just because they might want to give Kolb a start or two.

Skelton. 3,000 yards 18 INTS 12 TDS
This does not make sense.

What is this based on?

He had around 2000 yards, 11 TD, 14 ints last year in just eight games.

He wouldn't be able to even double his last year production in twice as many games???

Except as much as Warner got abused when holding onto the ball too long, he had a quick release on the ball the rest of the time. From what I have seen out of Skelton that doesn't appear to be the case. He is going to get abused twice as much possibly this season.

Man I hope not though...this line truly scares me.

True, but at the same time Skelton is like 24 and warner was 36 or something. Skelton is bigger and stronger too.

Either way, qbs get pounded all year and hold up all the time, its not much of a reach to think he can stay healthy.

If the decision had to be made today - Skelton.

But I also suspect that both the selection-process and development of both quarterbacks is a dynamic - i.e. it's fluid, because (1) as a QB gets more reps, the coaches throw more things at him that he has to master. (2) our opponents will zero in on the likely starter and make adjustments that he will have to deal with.

Each QB may have different learning curves when it comes to mastering new techniques and readjusting to other teams's adjustments. (One guy might struggle locating the safety. The other might consistently screw up screens or float balls toward the sideline). All of these factors are continually in play.

This may be why someone like Max Hall flashes promise early-on but then fades into oblivion (because he can't handle new things and/or other teams figure out his areas of weakness).

The hope is that at least one of the 2 QB's steps up, seizes the moment and improves on a consistent and comprehensive basis, but one never knows

Bottom line - it figures to be Skelton today, but things could be different 3 weeks from now.

Thoughts?

Prediction: Kolb "wins" the job to start the season, but is either hurt or replaced by Skelton somewhere around game 5.

2012 stats prediction
Kolb 90/160 1150 yds 8 TD/8 INT
Skelton 165/275 2500 yds 20 TD/17 INT

I think we are in trouble and will be looking to draft a qb with our first round pick next year which will probably be a top 5 pick.:([/quote

Way to much talent on this team to be picking in the top 5 . In my opinion

we wont be picking high enough to land Barkley or Wilson and if we trade

two first rounders and a second round pick to get one of them I will lose

what little hair I have left. We need those first rounders for a left tackle

and pass rusher.
