unfortunately, the highlights are from afar but he appears to have good mechanics and has something I have been craving since Warner left, ACCURACY and dude can hit the seam route!

How can you look past the fact that he plays for SOUTHERN Utah in the same conference as Portland State. It's destiny I tell you. Ties him in with 3 of the 4 best QBs in modern Cardinal history.

I'm jumping on the Sorensen bandwagon, because Cardinal history tells this longtime fan to do so and I like what I see so far...ALOT :)

Can I be the guy who hates him from the beginning and bumps this thread when he fails?

;)

Go for it Mulli, we must give him all the attention possible so the Cardinal scouting staff will at least look at him. We need haters too :D

Sorenson will probably get an invite the East-West Shrine game and it will be interesting to see what he looks like there.

Good call, Jetstream!

One thing Skelton was never called is accurate

Because he's big and plays at a small school he gets compared to Skelton. But as you can see from the highlights he can actually hit wide open receivers.

Did you notice in the highlights that Sorenson was continually stepping up in the pocket to avoid pressure? We can only wish our QBs had a pocket to step up into.

But most important Skelton didn't play in the same conference as the school that produced Neil Lomax or at a directional school like those that produced Kurt Warner and Jim Hart. :koolaid:

Here's a draft report that I found. Some of the + and - seem a bit contradictory to me, but a good write up:

http://nflmocks.com/2012/07/17/brad-sorensen-2013-nfl-draft-scouting-report/

Hmm, clicked on the authors name for that scouting report.

Not saying it's wrong but I googled it and he started writing for bleacher report at the age of 14.

D'oh -- as one who has not been kind to people for posting Bleacher Report articles like they are legit news sources, I should have read that little box before posting! One kid's opinion, I guess...

Not to pimp Sorenson or anything, but the Big Sky is closer in quality to the Pac-12 than the Patriot League is to the Big Sky.

Funny but on the bottom I missed: NFL comparison...John Skelton :D lol

Guys come on, lets quit grasping at straws & trying to take the cheap & easy way out like we always do! Find a QB that you believe in & move up in the 1st at mostly all costs & draft him! That's 99% of the time the way it's done successfully...quit hoping one will fall in our laps, cheaply because its not likely to ever happen!!!

Big Sky teams had 2 wins over Mountain West teams this season and Sacramento State beat Pac 12 member Colorado. Oh wait I forgot Colorado only has a Junior Varsity team.

This thread is ironic as I really think the Cardinals FO used grainy poorly shot video to judge our QB's the last three years. That being said, this isn't a Skelton situation. Sorenson was recruited out of high school by competent college coaches to play QB and has put up much better numbers against admittedly poor competition. Skelton only managed to have a winning record once in college for heaven's sake.

I have to admit I got curious for 2 reasons, he admitted he'd only seen him play once because he can't get FCS film, that surprised me. And he said he has outstanding "throw power" which is a phrase I'd never heard before.

I've never seen Sorenson play so I have no opinion.

Yeah, I guess I should have questioned it more. I wasn't sure how "footwork" was a plus, "has a super heavy foot" was a minus, and how that reconciles. Similar for accuracy being a plus, but tendency to throw high and throw INTs is a minus (if you have great accuracy, you shouldn't be throwing picks -- completion % notwithstanding).

I can see the foot stuff. Footwork throwing the ball can be good, but slow runner might equal super heavy foot?

That's not necessarily mutually exclusive. One of the biggest issues Skelton has is his footwork is terrible, he almost never steps where he throws.
