His average pass percentage is 66% - that's dang good
Good TD/Int percentage

Chad is one of the most accurate passers in the league, strong work ethic, real good arm strength and won't require a huge trade to get. His big issue has been injuries....put him with John Lott and he can get him physically ready.

Thoughts?
Pennington does not have real good arm strength. I don't think Lott could help.

stop the insanity. The guy has never had real good arm strength even before his shoulder problems.

I like Chad Pennington, but the guy was in Miami for a total of like four plays before he had to go back on IR. It's like saying that the DBacks' pitching problems could be solved by signing Mark Prior.

you may say his arm strength isn't DA's, but I'd rather have a guy passing at 66% than a gun who shoots 50%.

His arm strength is more like Max Hall's.

Listen, I LOVE Pennington, but he is injury prone big time, and I can't imagine how he'd fare behind this OL.

Does Pennington even still have a shoulder???

I wanted him for several years to be in the mix but his body just isn't able to hold up anymore.

Five years ago maybe.

With that said, next year (depending on what our QB situation is) we should consider taking Kellen Moore from BSU in the third round. He'll be just as good as Pennington, but without the injury and with a little better arm strength (although not much). Probably one of the smartest players I've ever seen play QB in college.

Last I had heard was Pennington was considering retirement. HE had made a statement earlier when he was injured that after all the injuries he's had he needs to consider whether he wants his body to take anymore and still be able to live life after football.

His shoulder is shot.

Max Hall can't grip a ball long enough to throw it, Pennington shoulders doesn't stay together long enough for him to throw it.

Pennington is done, which is too bad since I think he is a good quality NFL QB.

I don't care about his arm strength--it's good enough-- but the guy is a walking injury. He has a hospital room permanently rented in ever NFL city, just in case.

The annual Pennington for QB thread...

I don't see the attraction, not sure what Pennington ever did to warrant such esteem.

Guess he played for the Jets so that is good enough?

I wouldn't have wanted him in his prime, let alone now. His shoulder has to be corn flakes inside.

If was just some sort of way to Frankenstein the two together "Twins" style...ah Hell, who i am kidding, we'd end up with the Danny DeVito one. :(

Well, yeah. I don't think it's strong enough to hold up--I don't have a problem with how far or how hard he can chuck the ball.

He is on IR right? Shoulder might not let him chuck. Unless you like Max Hall's arm strenght too.

I don't dislike it, per se. If a QB can make the right reads and be accurate, I think they can be VERY effective in the NFL without having a Jeff George Rocket Arm (R).

If the guy was ever able to stay healthy I'd say he was an option but he gets hurt ALL the time.

He even considered retiring in 2009 due to injury and then he came back and played 1 play and was put on IR. I don't think any amount of time with Lott would make him more durable. I think he has ended 5 seasons in his career on the IR.

It is unfortunate because the 2 seasons he was healthy he was a good QB.

You might be right, but I don't want Cardinals to get another noodle arm QB who can make all the throws.
