I know nothing about this kid but after reading this article he sounded like a tough kid that fits BA's QB profile that will likely go late in the draft. Kevin Weidl blogger for ESPN Insider thinks he is one of the most underrated QBs in this class. I can't post the article but if you are subscriber it is worth the read.

Here are some paraphrases form the article - Savage is big in stature, lots of arm strength and polished mechanics -may have one of the strongest arms in the class. He is an effortless thrower of the football, the ball comes clean off his hands with high RPMs and finishes with a lot of energy without having to overcompensate with his mechanics, particularly in his lower body. This last bit is interesting in light of Bridgewater's recent challenges as pointed out by Kurt Warner.

"stands strong in the pocket, rarely blinks in the face of pressure and will stare down the gun barrel to deliver an accurate throw while taking a hit"

Mentally and physically tough - "I don’t know if I’ve seen a quarterback take more physical punishment than Savage did this past fall."

Couple of other thoughts - with Buddy Morris coming out of Pitt and BA probably having some ties to Pitt from his days with the Steelers he might have some insight on the kid. He was a double transfer so three colleges under his belt including Arizona where he didn't fit Rodriguez's offense.

He played for three different college programs?

Yes, he went to Rutgers and started as a freshman and was named to All American Freshman team. He had a hand injury early Sophomore year and they replaced him with a Freshman and he couldn't get his spot back so transferred to U of A and had to sit out a year. During that year Rodriguez moved to Arizona and he was told they wanted run & gun style QBs so he moved to Pitt. Red-shirted a year and started in 2013. I assume this is why he is considered the most underrated QB by Weidl. Not a large body of work behind him.

If we waste a $5,000 signing bonus on him as a FA, I will crush Keim on this forum. He has shown zero potential as an NFL prospect QB. None. I heard all about him here in Pittsburgh. No thank you.

No interest. If he was good, RichRod would have adjust his offense for him like he has done for various QB's in his career.

Who? Rodriguez's past QB's that I can remember all come from the same mold. Pat White, Denard Robinson, Scott from Arizona, etc. I know when he took over at Michigan there were highly rated "pocket passers" that transferred.

I don't know much about Savage but they were talking him up on NFL radio yesterday as well.

Los of buzz over his pro day.

Starting to get buzz RT @Gil_Brandt: Arm, size reminds me some of Aikman. RT @LRiddickESPN: @Gil_Brandt I applaud u. Tom Savage is for real

Louis Riddick ‏@LRiddickESPN
In the 4 games I have watched, he has avoided many sacks, and/or stood firm and delivered strikes as he took big hits in pkt over & over.

Louis Riddick ‏@LRiddickESPN
And doing it all within the structure of an NFL-style passing game/offense that he played in/started in just 1 season.

Louis Riddick ‏@LRiddickESPN
No QB in this draft class making the 18-22yd opposite "college" hash corner and comeback throws like Savage can. Mad I am late watching him.
