I have my doubts that Palmer retires this year. I think it depends on how much dirt he has to eat this year. If he's protected and given time to throw, if he is able to avoid injury, I think the man returns. I believe BASK thinks that way, too. If they don't, it's only because they're aware that adequate talent will be out there next year.
Yep, I said "adequate talent" because Harry is generally right. I'm not saying David Johnson is our savior -- who knows if he'll be healthy all year? -- but given enough weapons, any team can win with an adequate QB. You need a superstar to overcome a team's deficiencies. Limit those deficiencies and a solid, capable QB at this level can lead a team. We'll have options.
The problem with the QBOF is, when they don't pan out (and most don't pan out), your team sucks for years. Everything is geared toward making the team's newest multi-millionaire a superstar. Game plans are altered, personnel is shifted, and it's all worth it if the new guy has the magic. More often, the player displays just enough of a touch that he stays the #1 QB season after season...and you count it as a victory if your team even glimpses the playoffs.
