Campbell Not Directing James Bond 22
Source: AFP
February 1, 2007

Casino Royale helmer Martin Campbell told press at the Chinese premiere for the film on Monday that he would not likely be directing the next Bond film despite the global success of the 21st installment.

Campbell also directed the first Pierce Brosnan 007 film, GoldenEye.

Screenwriters Robert Wade and Neal Purvis said earlier this week that they expect shooting to start at the beginning of next year.

James Bond 22 is currently scheduled for a November 7, 2008 release with Daniel Craig returning as the super spy.

Goran Visnjic vs. James Bond

http://www.slashfilm.com/2007/03/08/goran-visnjic-vs-james-bond/

ER star Goran Visnjic may battle Daniel Craig in the next James Bond movie.

A Croatian newspaper is reporting that Croatia native Visnjic will leave ER later this year to play the villain role in Bond 22 (working title).

Bond 22 will be a continuation of Casino Royale, and may follow Bond “out for revenge”. If true, Bond 22 would be the first true 007 sequel. Eva Green has stated in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that Vesper’s French-Algerian boyfriend mentioned in Casino Royale may be the villain in Bond 22. It is expected that Visnjic will play this role. It is also possible she may return in a flashback/video scene.

Bond 22 will hit theaters on November 7th 2008.

Wasn't Goran Visnjic rumored at one time to actually be the next James Bond? Funny how things come around.

Yep, I think you are right about that. I don't know if he ever got to test for the role though.

According to Roger Friedman of Fox News:

Mathieu Amalric, the probable Oscar nominee from Miramax’s “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly,” is James Bond’s next villain.

Also from Friedman:

Leona Lewis, the singer who won Britain's X Factor show last year, may sing the film's theme song.

Sony Pictures has developed a viral feature for Quantum of Solace - the embeddable "Bond Blog" widget. The widget's video player automatically updates with a weekly blog for the next 5-6 months leading up to release on November 7, bringing Bond content straight to your personal profile page, friend's page, or blogsite. It also has other Bond content like videos, photos, links - acting as a mini portable Bond site.

You can grab it at http://www.007.com/

Plot Summary: "Quantum of Solace" continues the high octane adventures of James Bond (Daniel Craig) in "Casino Royale."

Betrayed by Vesper, the woman he loved, 007 fights the urge to make his latest mission personal. Pursuing his determination to uncover the truth, Bond and M (Judi Dench) interrogate Mr White (Jesper Christensen) who reveals the organization which blackmailed Vesper is far more complex and dangerous than anyone had imagined.

Forensic intelligence links an Mi6 traitor to a bank account in Haiti where a case of mistaken identity introduces Bond to the beautiful but feisty Camille (Olga Kurylenko), a woman who has her own vendetta. Camille leads Bond straight to Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a ruthless business man and major force within the mysterious organization.

On a mission that leads him to Austria, Italy and South America, Bond discovers that Greene, conspiring to take total control of one of the world's most important natural resources, is forging a deal with the exiled General Medrano (Joaquin Cosio). Using his associates in the organization, and manipulating his powerful contacts within the CIA and the British government, Greene promises to overthrow the existing regime in a Latin American country, giving the General control of the country in exchange for a seemingly barren piece of land.

In a minefield of treachery, murder and deceit, Bond allies with old friends in a battle to uncover the truth. As he gets closer to finding the man responsible for the betrayal of Vesper, 007 must keep one step ahead of the CIA, the terrorists and even M, to unravel Greene's sinister plan and stop his organization.

The recent Bond girls are highly average. During the last Bond, my mother in law blurted out "she is ugly" and "she is bald." Hilarious.
