Not sure where to post this so feel free to move it to another section mods.

I have noticed that the dallas cowboys fans are more or less hated by native cards fans because the cowboys fans come across as cocky and also because of the number of them in your area. Is it like a Cubs/Sox thing....where one fanbase out numbers another and therefore the feelings of dislike run feverishly throughout? Does it run personal?

In other words.....would a cards win agaisnt the cowboys be extra special because it would not be just a great win against a great team, but also a personal thing too?

Arizona didnt have an NFL team until 1988, so most the people who grew up here rooted either for the Steelers or Cowboys (both dominant in the 1970s to boot). When the Cardinals came, they never changed alligiance.

The Cards remained in the NFL East with NYG, DAL, PHI and WAS until just a few years ago, which didnt help. Games at SDS were basically a ninth home game for the Cowboys.

To answer your question, I would love to see the Cards kill the Cowboys (dont think it will happen) to shut up my brother's in-laws who are Cowboys fans.

Any time the cowboys lose I am happy, even if it is not by the cardinals.

For me, its not only the huge bandwagon, its growing up in south phoenix and clashing with gangbangers in cowboy/raider gear every day. The 90's was stoner/skater vs gangster all over my schools and it turned me vs the cowboy and raider fans.

in a word, yes.

As I posted in an earlier thread, there seems to be a big difference between Cowboy fans from the DFW area/ Texas and those that seem to show locally. The Cowboy fans locally take obnoxious to a new level.

So-- football wise, few things make me happier than to see the Cards beat the Cowboys.

LOL I see

I remember watching Kent Graham andf the Cards beat the cowboys on sunday night football a while back and watching the goal post get ripped down.....very exciting. I always wondered if there was an extra something that went into those games.

I also rememebr watching the infamous Rob Moore endzone game....that alone gets me charged up for the the cards and I dont even live in AZ

I think my hatred for Dallas will always be there, but I will say that it is much more mild than it used to be. We don't have to deal with Dallas fans on a regular basis like we used to. Plus, when we do have to deal with them, it is in the Air Conditioning!! It seems that many of Dallas fans that live in AZ jumped ship a few years back and now wear Cardinal red.

Here is my problem with the Cowboy fans.

First of all, growing up in AZ the only games on CBS (Cowboys Broadcasting Station) was the Cowboys. That being said almost everyone in Phx was a Cowboys fan. So I had to vote for the other teams just for the fun of it. They also happen to win most of the time and I was more of the underdog supporter.

The point that turned my slight dislike to a true dislike happened between the 1988 and 1992 seasons. After the 88 season Jerry Jones bought the Cowboys and unceremoniously fired Tom Landry. With many of the Cowboy fans her in Phx that did not sit well and they told everyone that but the Cowboys were still a winning franchise so they took a wait and see attitude. Then the 89 season came and Jimmy Johnson led the Cowboys to that great 1-15 season. I would have to say that 90 to 95% of all the previous Cowboy fans in Phx said that they would never be a Cowboys fan again. They all hated J Johnson and J Jones. It wasn’t like they just weren’t as abundant; they were adamant that THEY WOULD NEVER BE COWBOY FANS AGAIN. Well fast forward to 1992 and the Cowboys won the Super Bowl and low and behold; everyone in Phx was a Cowboys fans. Not only that but they had been a Cowboys fan for at least 20 years. Somehow they just blotted out the firing of Tom Landry, the hate for Jerry Jones, that useless college coach Jimmy Johnson. None of it, it was just like they went from straight from 1985 to 1992. None of them could remember saying how much they said they hated the Cowboys. So at that time my dislike for Cowboy fans grew greatly. They proved to me that they were just front running fans that only wanted to follow a winner not a team.

Then just to strengthen my feelings was a 1997 game against the Cards. The game was at SDS, They Cowboy fans out numbered the Cards fans by about 2 to 1. It was a sellout game and it went to overtime. The Cards pulled it out and beat them. The fans stormed the field and when that happened strangely the Cards fan out numbered the Cowboy fans 4 to one. Almost everyone in the stadium was all of a sudden a Cardinal fan. It was great to see so many people supporting the home team but sickening to know that it was fair weather band wagon front running Cowboy fans.

That is the reason for my dislike of Cowboy fans………. So my two favorite teams are always the Cards #1 and what ever team is playing Dallas #2.

Yes it's personal. The majority of Cowboys fans in AZ do not know anything about their team, yet continually run thier mouth about how great they are. Most can't even name a linebacker on the team! The real Cowboys fans in Texas won't even claim them as one of their own kind!
What a joke!!

I've posted before about growing up in Dallas as a diehard Cowboys fan and curiously a Cardinals hater since one of my best friends was a Cardinals fan, it was the '70s, and St. Louis would always make Dallas wear their unlucky blue uniforms.

When the Cardinals moved to town, I changed. It's fine to say you support the team from the place where you used to live, but I don't live there any more. I live here. The Cardinals are my home team, and I support the community I live in. It helped that after the Cardinals first season, Jerry Jones bought the team and partied it up with Jimmy Johnson the night before telling Tom Landry he was being fired, but I would have pulled for my home team regardless.

I'm not a violent person, but for years, every time I left Sun Devil Stadium listening to the taunts of locals who were pulling for the Cardinals to lose, I couldn't help wishing serious pain on them. The Cowboys simply represent the largest group of these idiot locals.

Oh, and my girlfriend's ex-husband is a Cowboys fan. Geez, where is the "Cowboys Suck" emoticon?

Very personal. There is absolutely nothing better that I have ever felt as Cardinal fan than beating the Cowboys in the playoffs. Every time we beat the Cowboys is the best day of my life. The Cowboy fans that come into our stadium are the lowest of low. Scum. Bandwagon losers.

Ive always wondered where these steelers fans are that people sometimes refer to to in AZ.. I dont see them.. In fact I cant think Ive met one steelers fan while living here (besides at the game when they all flew in).. Its always been a mix of cowboys, 49ers, packers and raiders fans that seem to have the most fans that might meet in AZ..

The Dallas game WILL BE the biggest victory AZ has had since beating Pitt last year.

We HATE Dallas for the years we were in the NFC East and they stomped us game after game, year after year. Their fans out numbered us at ASU and were always trying to pick fights.

I can not remember one game Vs. Dallas where one of their fans didn't yell and scream even when they were up by 21 points...they were freaking (male parts)!!!

I'd prefer if that was the MOnday Night Game...but so long as we win that one...I'll go freaking nuts!!! I'm gonna be a loud mouth at that game.
I HATE DALLAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
