That was a nice introduction for all us Az fans to what we’d come to know and loathe about the Cards.
STL fans took out an ad, about 5x8, in the paper that said something along the lines of, "Dear Phoenix, now you know why we were glad to see them go."

Tom Tupa. Was he a QB or punter? :D

Remember the game he was deemed the Six-Pack because he threw 6 picks in a game? I believe it was a 17-5 loss to the Eagles on my bar nitzvah weekend. Good times.

Me Too, but I got two metal ones now. So I'm good to go.
not sure if replacement will help mine as the bone is desolving/deteriorating.... doc wants to swap out my right knee but i'm too fat right now, lol...and a bit too young. doc says I should wait it out 5 or 10 more years if I can which I am good with

Not in SDS. Saw Marino in person versus the Jets.

When it comes to standing in a pocket, finding a receiver, and getting the ball there ? BEST EVER. Not even close.

I will always remember he hit a receiver going down the sideline, over the corner, under the safety, for 40 yards or so, and it happened so fast. It was unfair.

Drew Brees is close, but he doesn't have the canon for an arm, and dare I say Marino's release was faster.

This was the game I became a Cardinal fan. Montanna didn't play that day though (which others on here have already commented on.)

After years of searching, I managed to get a copy of the game on DVD from a niners fan. The commercials are an absolute time-vault.

Go Cards!!!

My first Cards game was the 37-0 debacle v. the Broncos in ‘89. Man did that Cards team suck.

My first game was from the benefit of a Valley National Bank Cardinals ticket drawing. We (dad and I) got some good 20+ish yard NW end seats. The Cards knocked out Majik man Don Majkowski. Rosenbach and Johnny Johnson had a great game. We left with a certain win in the 4th ahead 21-10, and on the radio on the way home we lost to the Packers 21-24.

Here's the box score.

SDS sucked. Still gladly watched the Cards beat the Eagles in the last game there, one of the guys I was with a Eagles fan lol.

I remember that Tupa 6 pick game. That 5-0 lead we carried into half time was as safe as a guy getting dropped out of a plane at 5000 feet without a parachute. The Lomax hip injury really sent us into years of lousy play. Cliff Stout replaced him for a couple losses, then Lomax returns in a rematch against the Giants who obliterate us. I always wonder if they brought him back to early.

No better place to put this so here goes. I've been here in PHX for the last four days and there is just no excitement about the team what so ever. It's like the old SDS days. It's a little depressing...

lets not go that far

this is a front running town -- but people now days actively and publicly claim to be Cardinal fans

back in those days -- even in Phoenix it was rare to see Cards gear, etc. Not anymore

What is there to be excited about right now? We’re pretty much out of the playoffs, the oldest team in the league with a coach a lot of people have lost faith in.

That said, the UoP will still have at least double the fans SDS would have had at this point of the season.

We’re just stuck in NFL purgatory and we all know it. It’s the worst place to be, especially for fans and a team that has actually had success in the last decade.

Was talking about the local fan fare and the local sports radio. It is obvious we have more fans now then back in the old days.

I get it, but at this point in the season, what kind of fan fare do you expect on the radio? It’s s totally lost season. Its not even like we can hold on to that shred of intrigue is Gabbert a possible QBOTF at this point.

There’s literally just nothing new or interesting to talk about this season. No burning question to stimulate discussion, etc... it’s literalky a repeat of last season when all the same questions were asked or talked about: Amos sucks/should be fired... will Palmer come back? Will BA come back, etc etc.

Hard to generate excitement for a rerun... with a possible rerun on the way for next year as well.

exactly...reminds me of when my oldest son was 2 or 3 and had to watch the Lion King 4 or 5 times a day every day for two years or so...you know every scene word for word, the characters never change, the emotional impact of simba's loss is gone.... it's all about, "just hurry up and end so I can put this damned kid to bed"
.
we are rapidly approaching the time when, after years of frustration, Lion King suddenly "Magically" caught fire and was totally destroyed....

I saw Young and Kelly in the USFL at Sun Devil Stadium. Saw Young with SF when Aeneas ended his career. Saw Elway in late 80s. Saw Aikman a lot obviously.
