The Rams are a different offense this year---they just need time to settle into their new schemes and QB---but with a bell cow RB in Gurley, a game changer in Tavon Austin and a top TE in Cook, once their young o-line settles in, their offense could be very good.

The Cardinals failed to rattle Nick Foles---that was a big reason why they won.

On the other hand, the Rams threw the kitchen sink at Palmer and while Palmer was one tough cookie, he and the offense couldn't finish drives or the big drive at the end of the game.

I can't argue with you there.

We just played a thoroughly mediocre team at home and lost. All that says to me is we laid a huge freaking egg and wasted an opportunity to go to 4-0 overall, 4-0 in the conference and 2-0 in the division. Nothing about that makes me feel good in any way shape or form.

this was a pretty pathetic loss to a pretty mediocre team. that's all. gotta get it back and going next week.
You can't have it both ways, cheese. In another thread you said the Rams fan was right; and here they were a "thoroughly mediocre team". Which is it?

I think the Rams have a ton of talent and are starting to put it together. I'm still not sold on Foles; but they are getting better. Their OC, Frank Cignetti, Jr, and IUP alum, has a good football mind, which he inherited from his father. They are a team to watch, going forward, if not this season, then the following and on, I think they are more of a threat to the Cardinals than the Seahawks! (Not to down play Seattle too much.)

he called his shot and he was right about what was going to happen. Doesn't mean they aren't still a thoroughly mediocre team.

they sure as hell didn't look like they were putting anything together the last couple weeks when they scored 16 total points.

we laid an egg. nothing more to say.

I wouldn't have messed with the chemistry of the o-line---I still disagree with taking Earl Watford out for Massie.
This.

Watford with more playing time could be the better option. Massie got beat last week also

Iupati was getting pushed back on pass plays real bad at times. Should of kept Larsen in there. Can't believe I'm saying this, but he was playing well and was picking up the blitz and stunts

On this we thoroughly agree! :billthecat:

I'm just so thrown because I haven't seen an Arians team that I expected to win (which I did today) really just stink up the joint. There's been games they've lost during his tenure, but most of those were toss-ups or games I didn't really believe we had a chance in.

today, they were just flat all the way around.

Don't like the noncalls by the refs on the 2 out of bounds plays. Both were blatant and everyone saw it but the refs.

This not why we lost

Just need to protect the players better and it sent a message that late hits are okay.

And the thing is - the Rams continued to do it, because they weren't getting called!!! :pullhair:

If the Cards can play a game this badly and almost win that's something.

There were 6 or 7 individual plays that if any one of them doesn't happen we win this game.

Considering a FG wins this game if...

DJ doesn't fumble the kickoff,
Fitz doesn't fumble,
DJ catches the the TD pass,
The non called fumble ( what a BS call that was),
The fumble we didn't recover (how did we not???),
Greshams drop ( may have turn 3 into 7),
and there is more.

Even with all the defensive breakdowns we still could and maybe even should have won this game.

Hats off to the Rams. They played a great game and were very opportunistic.

Let's lick our wounds and rebound next week on the road. We are 3-1 and still lead the division. It's not the end of the world, but it's time to come back down to earth and accept the fact that we were not going to go through the whole season without a loss.

There have been games we made mistakes and learned from them but the didn't cost us the game. And then there are games where you make mistakes and it cost us a loss.

This was one of those.
This sums it up best. Everybody has solutions after a loss but I'll trust the coaches who see the players all week and have been nothing but successful in their time here.

I said the only way the Rams would win was by getting 3-4 flukey plays, and they did. Having the zebras have an awful game didn't help matters either.

I get the refs sucked it up today, but I will never blame them for this loss. The Cards had what 5 red zone tries, 3 of those within 5 yards and they only get one TD? Cheese is right, the laid a massive dinosaur egg in this one and the offense laid it.

This game has huge implications because if you are vying to be a legit elite team then you simply don't lose these type of games.

Good luck going to Green Bay in January because that just became way more likely than the road to the SB going through AZ.

It's hard to get too down on a team when every break went to the other team and we still nearly won the game but this one will hurt bad later on come time for playoff seeds.

Ouch it hurts.

We had 447 yards of offense today against the Rams defense...I think the gameplan was good.

Palmer threw the ball 46 times vs the best defensive front in football. There is only so much the offensive line can do. It wasn't an issue of cohesiveness.

Execution was poor in the red zone by several players. That isn't a coaching problem.

Our defense couldn't stop the Rams in the red zone.

This was on the players and the defense. It happens.

Four turnovers enough said. To many points missed in the red zone. Now will see if next week is any better.

Such a weird loss...

So many unsettling things occurred to make you wonder about this team's ability to go all the way.

But I also had the feeling that we were really the better team today. Strange...

Sigh.. okay, let's not forget that the 2008 Warner-led cardinals were "the worst playoff team in history" according to some, and, also, we're still only five games into the 2015 season.

Definitely not going for the panic button at this point.

It was a bad loss, for sure. But let's see how things play out next week before we start looking for the emergency exits. :)

I hate to say it but I think we were out coached by Fisher and his team.

No way, we were outplayed, not out coached. Catman was shallow on kickoffs, we had 3 turnovers, we dropped passes, we didn't recover a fumble amongst a pile of Cardinals and we gave up big plays after the half through sloppy tackling and poor positioning. That is all on the players.

* Clearly the offense looked intimidated by the Rams' defense and so did BA whose third down and short calls were consistently questionable, as were some second half decisions to just kick the FGs. I think BA is going to rethink his choices in this game.

I love BA but I don't think it was intimidation I think it was arrogance. I especially didn't like the 3rd and 1 where he went deep and it was picked off in the endzone. All week we heard about how much he dislikes the Rams coaching staff. Well, I think Fisher knows him and was expecting that deep ball. He should have picked up the 1st down whenever had the chance instead of trying to prove how aggressive he was. Bad decision.

That was my take too Redheart. Both the team and BA seemed to be not in the slightest worried about the Rams until is was too late. We were lackadaisical in effort and playcalling was the type where you think you can call anything, you feel that confident about beating him.
