I love Radiohead... Wondering what direction they'll embark on in this new release...Shall be very interesting....

Radiohead Album Likely Due Next Spring

Caroline Bermudez reports:
There are people who look forward to the first day of summer, those who dream of their wedding day, and those who happily prepare for the birth of their first child. Then, there are those who anxiously wait with bated breath for a new album from the Oxford quintet. For this special (and neurotic, with yours truly included) breed of people, the time for rejoicing is nearing. According to the fan site GreenPlastic.com, Radiohead will complete recording their new album by December, with plans for a release date in February or March 2006.

Currently, Radiohead are working on 15 songs with two described as "already done and amazing." Recording for the follow-up to 2003's Hail to the Thief commenced back in January in which frontman Thom Yorke played new songs for the rest of the band, who then contributed their own parts to them. While in keeping with Radiohead's oft-collaborative spirit, the seventh album's recording process, however, is said to be "unorganized" and markedly divergent from past practices.

After two years of sequestering themselves in sunny England, touring will be in order. Radiohead tentatively plan to play dates sometime around the album's release date. They haven't been completely dormant, though. In late March, Yorke and guitarist Jonny Greenwood performed with the London Sinfonietta as part of the South Bank's Ether Festival. At these two shows, the duo debuted "Arpeggi" and performed the B-side "Where Bluebirds Fly". Yorke performed a five-song solo acoustic set at the Trade Justice Rally in April, which included the never before heard "House of Cards" and "Last Flowers (Til the Hospital)". There is no word if "Arpeggi" and "House of Cards" are among the aforementioned two finished songs. Start salivating now, folks!

I know this is slightly off topic but I found this quote the other day, which I thought Brandon_Webb might enjoy :D

"If you want to be entertained, go and see HANSON." - Thom Yorke

RADIOHEAD BREAK SILENCE OVER NEW ALBUM

RADIOHEAD have broken the silence over their new album.

Singer Thom Yorke has told NME.COM sessions for their new album remind him of working on ‘Kid A’.

The band recently regrouped to start rehearsing and recording new songs for the follow-up to 2003’s ‘Hail To The Thief’.

The album, not due until next year, will be the band’s seventh. Yorke told NME.COM that early sessions had seen the band changing the way they work, reminding him of the change between 1997 LP ‘OK Computer’ and ‘Kid A’.

He said: “It’s going well. It’s a bit like ‘Kid A’ – we’re going through a period of change. But that’s good. We’ll get there”

Songs touted for the record include ‘House Of Cards’, ‘Glass Flowers’, ‘Reckoner’ and ‘Arpeggi’.

Radiohead's album scoops accolade

Radiohead's album OK Computer has been named the best of the past 20 years by US music magazine Spin.

The British band beat Nirvana's Nevermind and Public Enemy's It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back in the publication's 20th birthday issue.

The band's 1997 release was chosen because it "uncannily predicted our global culture of communal distress".

Other British acts to make it into the magazine's special issue were The Smiths and singer PJ Harvey.

BEST ALBUMS 1985-2005
1 Radiohead - OK Computer
2 Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back
3 Nirvana - Nevermind
4 Pavement - Slanted And Enchanted
5 The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead
6 Pixies - Surfer Rosa
7 De La Soul - 3 Feet High And Rising
8 Prince - Sign O' The Times
9 PJ Harvey - Rid Of Me
10 NWA - Straight Outta Compton

More than a quarter of the top 100 albums were from hip hop artists, while Spin is primarily a magazine for rock music.

Editor-in-chief Sia Michel said releases from 1985 were chosen for their "basic brilliance, innovation and overall relevance".

She added that record sales did not affect the choices. The Pixies, who landed at number six with Surfer Rosa, did not sell millions before their initial split in 1993.

The Spin list contrasts to the Rolling Stone top 500 list, which included The Beatles, The Beach Boys and The Rolling Stones in its upper echelons.

The more recent albums which made the reckoning included Kanye West's College Dropout (2004), and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Fever To Tell from 2003.

Radiohead reveal 'terrifying' new album
Thom Yorke says it's scarier than OK Computer

Thom Yorke has compared writing for Radiohead's new album to that on 'OK Computer' - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying.

The group are recording with new producer Mark 'Spike' Stent (who has worked with Keane, Madonna and Oasis in the past) and in a world exclusive interview, Yorke said that despite rumours that the follow-up to 'Hail To The Thief' will have a political feel, in fact the opposite is true.

He said: "It's about that anonymous fear thing, sitting in traffic, thinking, 'I'm sure I'm supposed to be doing something else'.
Interestingly enough it's similar to 'OK Computer' in a way. It's much more terrifying. But 'OK Computer' was terrifying too -some of the lyrics were."

Up to 16 tracks are being considered for the band's next album, with current favourites including 'Nude', '15 Step', 'Arpeggi' and 'House Of Cards'.

Next month fans will have the first chance to hear the songs on a European tour, which will visit Blackpool Empress Ballroom (May 12-13), Wolverhampton Civic Hall (15-16) and London Hammersmith Apollo (18-19) in the UK.

Writing recently on his diary at Radiohead.com, Yorke had previously said that the band are "finally getting somewhere", and are optimistic about getting the songs right for the tour.

"Listening back to things we are doing and looking through the lyrics today and stuff it feels like we are finally getting somewhere", he explained. "There are lots of songs. Too many to get together straight away. So we will be furiously rehearsing and writing as we go.

"I think we've always worked best when we aren't bothered about making mistakes. Theres a lot of baggage about the old way of doing things that is hard to get over... all the 'album' crap. Just this level of pressure that is ridiculous. We're just going to do what feels right at the time. Quite into the idea of singles at the moment (that don't get on the radio). No grand design... wherever we are at. Some of the random stuff we have at the moment could be the most exciting."

For the full world exclusive Radiohead interview check this week's NME on sale natiowide from April 5.

I still just have this distinct feeling that this album will revolutionalize the music industry.... they're still one of the most innovative bands around and Thom Yorke is quite the musical genius......
