With all of Washington's holes why would they want to draft a QB and give up on Jason Campbell right away? He's been in the league 2 years and looked good in his 7 starts. It's a bit premature to call him a bust and move on.
That leaves A Peterson on the board with a big decision for the Card brass to make. I think if you take Wis's comments on wanting to run and having plenty of carries to split, with Grimm's comments on the depth of the tackle class -- I think they take Peterson.
If Edge is somewhat of a questionmark..yeah Peterson may surely be the guy
If they go get McCowen, that in no possible way precludes them from Russell. No possible way. McCowen should be a fourth day pick!
He is not a starting pro QB. Much closer to third string than starter. As a matter of fact he is a third stringer. Not too much going on in the critical 5" area between the ears.
[/Qlobo, I usually agree with you, but not this time. McCown is not a dummy. I see him as a Rich Gannon (another QB Denny was wrong about). Josh will eventually be a decent starter in this league.I guess that is what Al Davis is thinking anyway. To say that Dennis Green didn't give him a chance is wrong. McCown just didn't play well. Cause the cardinals have been in desparate need of a qb since Neil Lomax.

Trade wins brewing
April 15
Boston Globe (scroll down): "At first glance, the deal appears a win-win situation for all parties. The Raiders would like to add a veteran quarterback who could potentially start and are interested in Lions backup Josh McCown. Meanwhile, McCown is seeking an opportunity to start -- which he won't get in Detroit -- and would welcome a move to the Raiders."
Good quote, BHCF. The article went on to say something very interesting...that McCown has not been seen in Lions' headquarters, nor the training facility this off-season.
Orlovsky's the BOMB!! GO UConn!!!!!I just read something interesting about McCown being dealt to Oakland. All the talk is how it would effect the Raiders draft when, in reality, it will probably have more of an impact on the Lions draft. If McCown is dealt they are more likely to draft Quinn to groom as Kitna's successor because they would only have Orlovski(sp.) on the roster and they say they like him but he's not in the same class as a Brady Quinn.
