That would make travel much easier for the NFC West.

If the team moved to LA, how would the former Cardinal players who are in the Ram's ring of honor be handled? Would they be enshrined in a stadium of a city they never played in for a team they never played for? Or would the team just disavow?

Very curious because both scenerios would be stupid.

I wonder if anybody in LA saved their Roman Gabriel or Lawrence McCutcheon jerseys. Time to bring them out of the mothballed trunk.

I like how they essentially ran the Cards out of St. Louis, and now the Cardinals ended up with arguably the best stadium in football (voted favorite stadium to play in by NFL players) and now the Rams are up for auction and will potentially move out. Poetic justice.

Busch Breweries have been sold to a foreign entity. I believe Purina still owns the Blues. Can't think of anyone else in that area with the where withall. What about the lease they are locked into on the domed stadium? Can they just walk away from that?

St. Louis is a baseball town, and really too depressed to support a losing NFL franchise. It would be poetic justice for them to return to LA.

I hope they stay in St. Louis, because that's the only chance I get to see the Cardinals live. :(

They have an out in 2014 - if the Edward Jones dome is not considered a "TOP 8" stadium.

You can bet a whole lot of your A$FN dollars that they've saved them.

When their practice facility was in Anaheim I had a bunch of the players as neighbors and some of them were friends. I can tell you a whole lot of people's hearts were broken when she-whose-name-will-not-be-spoken moved them to St. Louis. I know fans who are frothing at the mouth at just the thought of getting a team back in the L.A./Orange County area. And if it is the Rams, there are a bunch of guys who are hollowing out watermelons as we speak.

This is where the lambs will be playing in not so very long.

http://www.losangelesfootballstadium.com/

Chip and his sister own 60% of the team and Stan Kroenke(owner of the Denver Nuggets and Denver Hockey team)owns 40% of the lambs now.

Due to NFL rules I do believe Kroenke cannot block the sale by Chip and his sister.Plus Kroenke owning the Denver teams will not be able to still own any part of the lambs or he will have to sell his two Denver franchises(which I doubt he will). He will just make money off the sale of the lambs to a couple of people who are willing to pay for them now.

Chip only wanted to honor his mothers wishes to keep the team in St.Louie and no one there has the money.Even Budwizer sold out to a foreign country.I understand the catfood company owns something else in St.Louis.

Check out the lambs new stadium and the video that goes along with it.They will become an outdoor team and take the horns back to L.A. and 18 Million people who don't mind driving in traffic to games or anyplace else.

The stadium lease can be broken before 2014 due to the amount of money the city of St.Louis would have to raise to keep the Ed Jones Dome as one off the top 8 stadiums in the NFL.They now know why even try to raise that kind of heavy dough when the lambs are gonna be leaving now anyway.

I don't see the NFL sending the Jags to L.A. since the lambs have a longer history there, than they have had in St. Louie. They have played in more playoff games in the NFL than only the cowpies and the giants.

I can see the watemelon heads already carving out thier watermelons already.

I'm just glad it will be a shorter flight to L.A. and when the NFL goes to 18 games we might get the raiders and San Diego added to our division to add the two new teams.(If that is needed). This last added thought is just a rumor about bringing in new teams,so you can just overlook that part.I do have the name of the men wanting to pay the 900+ Million dollars that the lambs cost right now.

I think they would be approved in a split second.

The key for them to move is for Los Angeles to build (or remodel) a real quality NFL stadium. Over the last 10 years there has been a series of proposals but nothing has come to fruition. The NFL would love to have a team in LA.

OT: This makes me wonder what structures the Bidwill's have put in place; if anything; to enable the family to retain the Cardinals when Bill Bidwill dies. I can't envision Mike B. willingly giving up the club!

Take a deep breath. Granted, the StL economy is hurting* but so is everyone(California is fast becoming the nation's poster child for fiscal disaster, so don't expect much help from there).

This is not a good time for a cash-rich entrepreneurial newcomer (like Wayne H, Paul Allen or Dan Snyder were when they acquired franchises) to arrive on the scene. That's more likely to happen in an economic environment more condusive to innovation, startups and the sudden inflow of cash.

If you accept the metaphor - of the duck floating atop the water, looking as calm as can be but who's actually paddling furiously below the water - you get the feeling that, despite his cool, calm, upbeat demeanor, Roger Goodell is "paddling furiously." Someone should ship him a case of Maalox.

*I flew in and out of StL over the weekend. Lambert Field was really quiet. Our inbound and outbound Continental flights had a few empty seats. The hotel we always stay at was not very busy. Hotel and car rental rates were at bargain levels. (Great for consumer convenience, but it must be sucky for travel industry bean counters in StL and elsewhere.

Unless the Ram owners are in desperation-mode, it may turn out that their best play will be to sit tight, wait for the storm clouds to pass and continue to own the team.

Anyone wanna start a collection? Put some money in a hat?

We can probably get the 32 dollars necessary to buy the team if we tried really hard.

I'll throw in a dollar!

Please send me the paperwork stating that I am now have a 1/32nd ownership share in the Rams...

Until I recieve the legal documents, I reserve the right to continue to be a Cardinals fan! :newcards:

If you visit the lambs website of the Herd you will see the actual names of the people with the money right now that want to make this deal happen and take the lambs back to L.A. and the stadium was voted for and approved already by L.A. just a couple months ago.

No one thought it would pass but it did.

If you have'nt seen the stadium and its plans go back to my last post on the first page of this thread and you will click on the site of all of the lambs hopes and prayers.

I assure you its gonna happen.I've read enough on thier website and refuse to bring back more of thier tripe to our website.names, dates etc...

The possibility certainly seems more likely now than it did just a year or so ago. When Chip(Georgia's son) and his sister took over they made no secret about the team being for sale. But, they wanted it to sell only to someone who promised to keep the team in St. Louis.

Not for the fans of St. Louis as much as for themselves because of how they perceived the L.A. fans to have treated their mother.

Whatever the case, a privately funded stadium proposal in the City of Industry has already passed and is just waiting for a team to commit to the location to really get the ball rolling. I think the stadium may be built regardless but a commitment would really launch the process. The same guy who built and has interest in the Staples Center is the one in charge of the football project.

Unlike the clusterflucks of the past, this L.A. proposal is strong and I think they finally have it dialed in to where the NFL will give it's blessing. In addition to the stadium having design approval, location approval and private financing in place, the cost of the Rams is relatively cheap since it's only for 60% of the value of the team.

The new owner will get controlling interest but not have to pay for the whole ball of wax. Stan Kroenke still owns 40% of the team and wants to keep his shares regardless of what happens. There is a longshot chance that the NFL might bend some rules to allow him to become a split-city owner but it is very remote.

I don't really know how the NFL feels about St. Louis losing another team but I, like everyone else, knows they want a team back in LA. The Rams moving back there makes sense in a lot of ways so it's not hard to imagine it happening.

I read on ESPNews lat night that a guy named Dave Checketts (sp) who now owns the St. Louis Blues and used to have a partial interest in the Knicks is looking into buying the Rams.

I would like to see them move to L.A. and give us a natural rival that is nearby. JMO
