Terry McCormick of Titan Insider reports that the Rams have "serious interest" in making Jeff Fisher their next head coach.

NBC's Peter King also reports that St. Louis has set up an interview with Fisher. The Rams' last three coaches (Mike Martz, Scott Linehan, Steve Spagnuolo) have all been promoted coordinators. Fisher would be their first "recycled" head coach since the Dick Vermeil era, which apparently is the way owner Stan Kroenke is leaning amid reported interest in Jon Gruden, as well. Fisher turns 54 in February. He had a career record of 146-120 with the Titans.

Fisher is a good coach, and definitely an upgrade over Spagnuolo, but like Mike Shanahan, he has been built up by the media into the second coming of Lombardi, which he isn't.

In 16 full seasons as head coach in Houston and Tennessee, Fisher won only 3 division titles and 5 playoff games.

I'm more worried about where Steve Spagnuolo ends up as a DC.

I think Fisher is much, much more than hype. He wins--and he does it consistently. That's not easy to do in the NFL.

I don't want Fisher landing in St. Louis. Say what you want about his playoff record, but his teams were always tough in the regular season, and I'd rather not have his expertise on their sideline.

He's also interviewing in Miami. I think he would go there over St. Louis, but it will probably be decided by which franchise will give him greater control over his staff and roster.

I would think St. Louis would be much more attractive, they have a young talented defense, their QBOF, a franchise back who can still perform and are missing a WR. The Rams are a better team than their record indicated and Fisher would make them instantly better. The Dolphins are a mess and need a complete overhaul. I could see Fisher being successful not matter where he goes, but I could see him having a lot of success in St. Louis.

Doesn't he have 6 winning seasons in 17 years? :championship:

They were quite good the second half of the season with a coach that had already been fired last offseason. They have some pieces, though St. Louis does have the QB, potentially.

I think he ends up in SD. He's a Southern Cal guy.

Jeff Fisher is expected to focus on head-coaching opportunities that have a franchise quarterback in place.

Fisher is reportedly doing an early-week interview with the Dolphins this week, but it's believed the quarterback factor would give the Rams an edge if Fisher's decision comes down to the two. The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Monday that Fisher is "all but certain" to be St. Louis' next head coach.

In my thinking about the Draft, I see the Rams trading down with Cleveland and picking #4, getting extra picks and still be able to draft Justin Blackmon to get their much needed WR.

He's a good coach. I want more guys like Mike Singletary in our division.

I posted this last week. Was in St Louis for the holiday's and the Fisher talk was going on then. Not sure they will land him though. Hard to say just how bad they are with all the injuries they had. Many I spoke with didn't like Bradford's attitude when things started going bad.

It would be interesting to see him back with the Rams but I'd be surprised if it happened. Fisher is a pretty independent guy and I'm not sure he has the personality to coach with Kroenke (the owner) looking over his shoulder.

Well Norv Turner is staying in San Diego another year, at least, so Fisher won't be landing there. That was the only potential opening that I thought might beat out St. Louis for his services.

If I were Fisher I'd wait a couple of weeks to make a decision. Maybe a job like the Giants will open up.

Much of that was with the Peyton Manning winning 12-15 games per season to take the division crown away from the Titans. Hard for any coach to match that without having a similar QB.
