Lot of great memories on this thread....

1. Boomer Esaison throws a last second TD to Marcus Dowdell to beat the Eagles. The Eagles had recovered an onside kick and ran it in for a TD to take the lead with less than a minute to go. Biggest swing from low to high ever at a Cards game.

The cool thing was we were in FG range to tie it for OT. I was screaming, "Go for six, pump fake an out and then go." Sure enough, that's exactly what gets called, the CB bites (Troy Vincent) hard on the pump, and Dowdell is wide open. My section looks at me like I'm a genius, slapping me on the back like I actually called the play.

2. After the miracle win over the Vikings, hearing all the crap given to their fans after we damn near drowned in purple that game. One guy next to me kept screaming at every overweight Vikings fan, "Hey, Grimace! Better hurry, time for the night shift!" My wife and I, when ever we passed a Vikings fan, we'd say, "Thanks for helping to pay for our stadium. See you in six years in Glendale." One MOM stops and, in front of her 4 kids who were from about 5 to 12, starts screaming a huge string of profanities and flipping us off.

Good times!

One of my favorite memories. I was something near 13 years old and kept screaming "IT'S NOT OVER!".
I think my pop was both excited for me but also wanted to kill me.

Driving 5 hours to watch the Cards play Dallas in the first round of the playoffs...listening to Cowboy radio. They were laughing the whole time. Rolling up into the stadium with my Cards gear on...being laughed at and pointed at the whole way in.

Walking out of the stadium...nobody was laughing.

That's beautiful.

It's a bad memory, but a weirdly fun one too--I remember coming on this board after the Monday Night Meltdown and commiserating with all the other fans. I stayed up to about 4 in the morning just reading other's pain, and their attempts to lighten up.

The highest of highs and the lowest of lows all in about 2 hours.

That was Neil O'Donaghue. And it was a terrible game to watch as a Cardinal fan especially.

I remember after the 9-6 Cards-Cowboys game I went home with my friend and turned on Sunday Night Countdown, and ESPN had put together a special graphic naming it the "Worst Game Ever."

Starting out 4-2 tied for first place and full of hope only to finish 5-11 and dejected again.

That was the worst game ever

Quincy Carter was the QB and threw 4 ints

Dallas missed an extra point

Grammatica missed two kicks in the final 1:30 that would have won it

Dallas missed a kick late that would have won it

Gramattica kicks the winner with 3 mins left -- in OT

Jamir Miller rushing at will blowing up the offensive line and putting Aikman on his ass nearly ever play in "the" playoff game.

Damn, why'd he leave :(

Let's not forget Boston catching a TD on his toes but since he did it going out of bounds backwards and his heels came down after he had made the catch on his toes the refs overturned it and said he was out of bounds.

Hands down the worst call I've ever seen. If he had been dragging his toes and going OB face first it would have been a TD, but since he was going back first it was OB. :bang:

In '78? I remember the cardinals driving very late in a game against CIN, desperately trying to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Mel gray caught a game winning pass in the endzone, took one step, and then dropped it.

I also remember in 1980 or thereabouts how excited I was to watch STL vs. PHI on my local channel in OKC (all I usually saw was DAL (did I mention that I hate them?). I was really fired up to watch the game.

Anyway, the eagles proceeded to kick the cardinals @ss to the tune of 51-7 before CBS finally cut away to another game. That was kind of disappointing.

I remember that game, 1981 and it was 52-14 (just looked it up). A home game for the cards and they finished the season at philly and got trashed 38-0. I debated all winter which of the two games they played worse in, believe it or not. I remember our 3rd QB (behind Hart/Lomax) having to play safety during one of those games because of injuries. Can't recall his name.

1981 was Jim Hart's last season as starter. Lomax played about half that season and was sacked 32 times in 236 attempts while Hart went down only 16 times in 241 attempts.

Which leads to the 1975 team which only allowed 8 sacks in 355 attempts and one of those was on Jim Bakken! Hart was only sacked 6 times. I would guess that is still the NFL record.

Finnie,Young,Banks,Dobler and Dierdorf were an awesome offensive line. From 1974 through 1977 they allowed only 56 sacks and the Cards gained 9,237 yards rushing.

EDIT: For comparison the Cards have gained 5,675 yards rushing the last 4 seasons, 2003-2006.

Did some research, the Cards 3rd string QB was Rusty Lisch.

Oct 1990. Home game against the Bears. Went with about 20 people from work and a couple good friends who were Bears fans that came in from out of town.

They were kicking the Cards butt up and down the field all day. I think the Cardinals finally scored in the 3rd quarter.

There was this guy in our section with a funny Cardinals hat that had wings attached and a string under his chin that he would pull to make the wings flap.

After the score, he stood up, turned to face the crowd, started flapping the wings and repeatedly screamed in an excited voice, "It's not a shutout! It's not a shutout!"

One memorable and very funny moment-

In 1997 in the Eagles game, Ist quarter when Big Bernard Wilson caught a pass and ran it back 66 yrds for a TD. It was the longest return by a defensive lineman in Cardinal's history. The crowd and the bench went nuts, players running out with oxygen for Bernard. We won 31-21. The other one was when we were playing Dallas and Larry Centers jumped at least over 6ft over several cowboys to run it in. Can't remember the year but I still have the photo from the newspaper. There are too many to write about when you have been going to the games since 1988!!:)

I work with Bernard. Super nice guy, gives me the inside scoop on the Cards teams from 95-98.But I have to scold him on not being up on Cardinal trivia from the years before he got there.
